Cinema is a visual medium. But in Hindi cinema, a lot of directors seem to have forgotten that. Paul Thomas Anderson’s masterpiece There Will Be Blood is a good reminder where we can examine how to use staging, blocking, and editing, to tell a story, any story, visually.

So true bro but sadly views are low 😢
Even cinema lovers like me who don't know much about the technicals of film making learn so much from your videos. And now the wait for your next video begins. Please make it soon!

This videos help me a lot as well as I am just another ordinary spectator who has barely any technical knowledge about film making. But my question is, will people like us grow once they are exposed to such technical videos?? Will you and me and other people like us be able to differentiate between average and great camera work or interpret cinematic language properly?? I don't think I''ll be...

@@aftabeasty8577 we definitely experience it, we may not be able to say why we are experiencing the things we are experiencing but it is a fact that the filmmaker made it in that specific way to us to feel a specific set of emotions. I've only recently watched there will be blood and also it is the first film I've watched directed by PTA and half the scenes i don't know why I'm feeling the way I'm feeling but i know for sure that the director meant to portray it like that and there is some merit to it. And as i keep watching analyses like this i understand how it all works in technical aspects
I admire your videos very much :) but .. I think the reason for this channel's ordinary no of subscribers is that Indian audience doesn't care about these intricate details what can you expect as they don't even notice a change in hair style and skin tone between shots I say this because I recommended your channel to my friend and he told me that why would he care to know such about a film which he is going to watch once this incident has saddened me and I wish people like you who have a great perspective about filmmaking should make Hindi cinema whole.

This channel is geared towards film students and budding self taught filmmakers looking to hone their craft. Regarding audience, we all subconsciously see these intricate details while watching movies. When I watched There will be blood, I just loved the movie but I didn't know why, cuz the story was pretty mediocre. Now I know one of the reasons might be the filming technique, of-course, apart from brilliant acting and production etc.

Agreed Anderson can be credited with the staging and blocking of the scene. But I think when you mention editing, you should also mention Dylan Tichenor. Afterall, he is the one who makes the decision of ‘when not to cut’.

Please make a video on movie Lincoln 2014..... I want to know how they made iconic table scenes in it
Hi sir You should make a film. Immensely talented and knowledge you have
Can you also analise "Ship of Theseus" please ?
hey vinit give some time to analyse these movies : 1) there will be blood, and 2) as good as it gets !!
If the profile shot of Paul was to show that he is strong ("meaning business") why was it used again to show him back as a naïve boy??
How about analyzing Nuri Bilge Ceylan's Winter Sleep or Once Upon A Time In Anatolia?
Superb
God, you know how to enjoy films! I think great critics can teach us, how to enjoy a film.
Appreciate your attempt... Plz elaborate SAIRAT with your next attempt
Cinema Beyond Entertainment, since you are a PTA fan will you make a video essay on Inherent Vice?
Kindly publish an analysis of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. It will be awesome. I have seen it about 20 times.
Do I hear Nujabes in the background?
So that will understand his work more clearly..
what's the name of the background music?
Which soundtrack of the violin ?
Just watched cinefixs camera movement video n now this video...home feed is full of these film school videos...n of course after this m gonna watch frame by frame by the film theorists
Seriously guys, I don't think even PTA would have given attention to all these interpretations. But still a masterpiece nonethe less!
I am confused now ! Saw the video on blocking recently in StudioBinder and they are defining staging and blocking exactly the opposite with what you said here !
@CinemaBeyondEntertainment
3 жыл бұрын
You will always be confused if you don't test it by shooting something yourself. Here's a simple shorthand. Staging happens for a FRAME. Blocking happens for CAMERA.

@@CinemaBeyondEntertainment Hey there! thanks a lot for your response. I mean, being a film undergrad student I always coming up here on your channel for explanations. But this 'Staging/blocking' is kinda confusing as different channels are defining these two terms in different ways but now I guess I am pretty much clear about it and a 'Huge Shout out' goes to you and your altruistic channel!
sir kaise, kaise kar let3 hai aap...
Aurarian dance - nujabes in the background ! thank god we got people like you. great analysis . thank you.
U played hyouka's theme music in this video... Are u also an anime fan?
Undoubtedly PTA is a true, genius writer/filmmaker of all time.despite of not having a successful box office shit,he contributed alot to CINEMA.. cigarettes and coffee, magnolia, boogie nights, hard eight, master and this.
yes
make a video on Good Will Hunting
niceee
Kind of unrelated to the topic discussed in the video but I would like to talk about Daniel Day lewis. What he does is embody another person or character like a chameleon and he does it with meticulous detail but he lacks the essence. He is so consumed by perfecting his accent and looks that when you try to look past it there is nothing there. Think about it when you think about Day Lewis what do you think? Bill the butcher, Daniel Plainview, Lincoln but not him. He hasn't shared himself with the audience, he doesn't have a distinct screen presence and so he hides behind the outward appearances of his characters. It could be said that great actors like Paul Newman, Humphrey Bogart, James Stewart etc played the same characters in all movie. It was about their screen presence they could convey so much by doing so little. They stayed true to themselves and lived on screen you couldn't see them act it was so real. If we look at Spencer Tracy, who I consider to be the greatest Film actor, he embodied characters perfectly, performed a variety of characters but the character traits didn't overshadow the performance themself.
What range of lens used for this shot?

Probably wide (but not too wide) to normal.
I like many of his videos ..very detailed and informative..but some seems "trying too hard" and forced like this one.. although, the shot is perfect, there is nothing much unique about it in a sense that, a shot like this is used quite often in many movies.. and the narrator is making it more complicated than it really is... jst to add, this movie has lot many scenes which is better and literally a work of genius.. one being the famous confession shot..
