50 Greatest Films of All Time

Фильм және анимация

So to celebrate 100K Subscribers, here’s a small video of the 50 Greatest Films I have ever seen.
These are different from my favourite 50 films. What differentiates both lists is that my favourite movies are solely based on my taste and how much I like to re-watch them; the greatest ones I believe, hold greater cinematic value when gauged against the historical development of the medium. These films are the ones that have the highest cinematic quality in terms of their medium specificity, narrative and cinematic innovation and relevance along with historical and cultural legacy. There are a lot of films in common with my favourite list. It also contains movies that I acknowledge are among the greatest, but I don’t necessarily enjoy them. It’s like you know how particular food has excellent nutritional value, but you still don’t like eating it.
Of course, I haven’t seen every single film ever made. These 50 are from all the movies I have seen so far. You will find films common to many such lists, along with some bold additions. From 50 to 11, films are arranged based on their release year. From 10 to 1 is an ordered list I consider to be the greatest 10.

I was never really into what you term "pure cinema" and you almost single-handedly made me engaged with them, to that extent that I managed to get a delegate card at Kolkata Film Festival. Thank you so much 😊😊. One request, I'm really curious to know what are thy thoughts about Ritwik Ghatak or melodrama as a form in general. However, just know you got an admirer...

@@shivamnagrale2104 I think within Jodorowsky's work if we are to judge them on their artistic merit we have to primarily consider their coherency in their use of symbols and scope because no doubt he is overflowing with creativity in nearly all other aspects in his movies. In that way, Holy Mountain represents the high point at which his structure followed an admirable internal mosaic-like logic. But I still like Sante Sangre for pure ambition in it's view on horror in general. It's just more frizzled and bridled in nature which is a risk with avant-gardists like Lynch,Bunuel and Jodorowsky after a while.
