Why there is no "Safe Dose" of Alcohol for the Brain
Ғылым және технология
Alcohols effects on the brain are profound and wildly misunderstood. I thought I would try make an engaging but educational video describing the various effects of alcohol consumption on different brain regions and how it affects behaviour, what causes addiction and how one might overcome and beat their addictions.
I'm not anti-alcohol but please drink responsibly and seek help if struggling with any kind of consumption problems that is negatively affecting you life.

The real problem with Ethanol is that it is considered normal and okay to ingest. We don't have that problem with other drugs.
@evanmcgloughlin

Exactly, the normalisation of alcohol is way out of proportion with its danger in comparison to other substances. We need to take a more nuanced perspective on “drugs”.

Look at the addiction to caffeine look at the addiction to sugar look at the addiction..... Look at the addiction to prescription pills the doctor gives you. If you go out here and lost your family in a fire and turn into a drunk for a year while you recover in 30 days you can dry out quit drinking and go on. If you take Xanax for a year and quit it's going to be at least a year to quit you're going to have to tape her off and I've heard the withdrawal is like a year long panic attack. If you think we normalized alcohol consumption somehow and don't warn people look at the prescription problems we have now. We normalize going to the doctor and getting a pill to solve every problem .

We have a huge problem with "psych meds," among other drugs. Many "mental health professionals" are the absolute worst type of drug pushers.

@@myblacklab7 well if you ask me would it be better to start drinking or start taking Xanax I would have to say drinking is better because you can quit in a month. Quitting Xanax is like a 4-year panic attack according to one poor victim. Everybody in the universe will now say something about me your willy your Nilly. Anything at all but face the fact that the doctor offers 47 more months of misery if you cope with Xanax and it fails you versus the person who copes with alcohol and fails.

We have caffeine and that drives some people off their rocker we have nicotine that's pretty hard on people very addictive these things are considered normal. We've got energy drinks now with a bunch of different natural drugs. We have like jagermeister and that has a lot of weird stuff. Some people drink a couple liters of soda pop a day. This soda pop contains phosphoric acid. This is hard on your skeletal system. We have a lot of stuff that's bad for you and doesn't show up quite as quickly as alcohol
This video is IMMENSELY helpful with understanding why it’s so difficult to quit alcohol. Hijacking is certainly a great way to put it

@@evanmcgloughlindepends on the situation, for a chill party i usually use phenibut. I would have access to alprazolam but i personally just dont like the feeling (i dont hate it either but it just feels like a strong depressant und nothing else, phenibut with its slightly entactogenic features is much better for social situations.) apart from that i sometimes use tramadol instead, makes me less funny in the way that phenibut does (somewhat similar to alcohol in that regard) but the SNRI action is quite nice to stay up longer. Apart from that for festivals i just use a serotonergic stimulant like mdma or 6 apb a at max few times a year.....

@@evanmcgloughlin Typically with phenibut, id have access to alprazolam but just dont really enjoy it. Especially since phenibut has some entactogenic properties it is just the superious choice. Apart from that, tramadol a pretty good drug for social situations. PS: another thing i very much dislike about our alcohol drinking culture is the dosage problem. If i take a drug on a party i decide how much i think is fitting and then take that amount to the party and consume it. When people drink alcohol they do not have a set dosage. They just see where it goes and decide in a "fucked up" if they want another drink , which is absolutely not a good idea, especially with gaba agonists (insanely strong carelessness relative to other drugs) its just an insanely stupid idea
7:17 The most "responsible" way to drink is to actually not drink at all. I know, difficult because of how ingrained alcohol is to our society and social lives, but it's the truth!

My dads a drinker, when I was a kid I begged him to stop. Look at me now, 19 and drank more then probably what 80% of people drink in their entire lifetime, it’s a mindset for me tho like I’m not in denial I don’t get any physical withdrawals but it’s always that thought “I’m bored I wanna get hammered” I need to work on that.

Excellent video. I believe it should be stigmatized. Just because something is legal, if they know it’s addictive, and potentially life threatening, they should never try it. They taught me in paramedic school that Alcohol makes you feel the way it does because it’s literally a poison. Thats why I’ve never tried it. No empathy for them.

Humans have evolved alongside alcohol. So in moderation it’s okay.

We have been drinking alcohol in some shape or form for a long time but I’m not sure it’s correct to say we have evolved alongside it. But I completely agree that in moderation and even infrequently not in moderation I think it’s ok. I’m not trying to demonise alcohol completely just bring some much needed awareness to the neuroscience and the effects it has on the brain. Something I think not a lot of people know about.
