As a non Glock guy, but an a gun enthusiast, this is one of the most uniformed and inexperienced gun KZreadrs I have ever come across. It’s true, Glocks aren’t one of the most comfortable guns to shoot, but they work. There are reasons some people hate Glocks but this guy is so far off on those reasons it makes me wonder how much experience he actually has. Food for thought.

I've owned Glock pistols since 1988. I've fired hundreds-of-thousands through Glocks. I carried a G-19 on my side 24/7, 365, through several deployments to Afghanistan. Whether I'm shooting a G-19, a G-17, G-17L, G-34, G-20SF or any other large/medium frame Glock, the muscle-memory is there. I choose what I carry based on the threat level and concealment options (if that's an issue), and they all feel and work the same. Well, all except that G-20SF with full-power 10mm Auto loads. That one gets a little more snappy than the others.

Used and using Glock in hostile environments. I’m also an instructor. It’s definitively reliable, easy and simple to use and maintain. Never experienced a malfunction in 23 years. The same applies to Beretta 92, 92B and 92F

The only jams I've seen in Glocks were from limp wristing. I personally don't care for Glocks they just don't do it for me. Nothing wrong with them that I can point out.

That's something that a person that's never held a glock says

Back in the 1980's when the Glock first came into production I was invited to a demonstration in Tampa Florida. The Glock representative took a Glock 17 and tossed it end over end on a airport tarmac. Picked it up put in a magazine and fired it into a bullet trap. He then took the same Glock laid it on the tarmac and had a police vehicle come up to it while it was being driven slam on the brakes and catch the Glock under the front tire and skidded it UNDER THE TIRE across the Tarmac. He then picked it up (it was starting to look a bit worn by this time) and fired it into the bullet trap. The grand finale was a helicopter that landed, picked up the Glock, flew up so high you couldn't hardly see the chopper and dropped it out. The first bounce had to be over 20 feet high and then a few more bounces before the G17 came to a halt on the tarmac. The representative picked it up, put in a filled magazine and fired it into the bullet trap. The pistol had no sights, the grip was beat to crap and the finish was pretty nasty looking BUT IT WORKED. At the time I was collecting 9mm pistols from every country I could find that made one including a Made in Czechoslovakia CZ75, and ordered myself a Glock 17. I just wish I still had that first generation one, but I don't. I do have a few others though...of every size shape and caliber they make. I finally reached the point though that I stopped buying them because Glock is not Glock Perfection. They are Glock SEEKING Perfection. The changes over the years have always been to improve functioning, grips or whatever. The grip angle was copied to be the same as a typical revolver because they wanted police that were used to revolvers to be able to transition without any major issues. I have no problem with the grip angle and shoot my G29 very well and can keep it on an 8" plate at 50 yards. The no safety issue is not an issue if you keep your finger off the trigger UNTIL you engage the target. The SAFETY IS YOUR BRAIN. He said you could have an "accidental" discharge. It should be more properly called a CARELESS or NEGLIGENT discharge. As for the polymer design? I guess when they have run 100,000 rounds though one and it held up with a few recoil spring replacements, it's durability shouldn't be questioned. And as for one blowing up? Well don't put bombs in the chamber because they will blow up ANYTHING they are put in, steel included. The picture he uses is from an OVERLOADED cartridge that either a hand loader made or a bad factory round, which is super rare.

I’ve seen them crack with factory ammo. So I dunno about that. Reliable sure but the slides are comparatively weak compared to most modern fire arms. Not saying it’s common but it’s a thin piece of metal slapped on plastic! I have seen them jam I have seen the barrels go the grips crack etc. people talk about reliability but shoot less than a thousand rounds in a year! That includes cops and certain military regs etc who don’t shoot nearly as often as people think. I have 60k rounds through a staccato p and not one malfunction and never changed the recoil spring. Those guns people say aren’t as reliable as glocks but then again I never seen a me glock shooter shoot 60k rounds in one year like I did last year. I’m not saying staccato is more reliable because typically hammer fired guns aren’t but I have seen glocks break all while not even having to change a recoil spring on my staccato with zero malfunctions. So it’s all relative I just don’t think glock is what people think it is. It’s also stupid uncomfortable to shoot and the trigger is trash. Like I tell people all the time if you got to spend another 400 bucks on a glock to get it to shoot better it’s no longer a glock. Might as well buy a shadows system 😂.

The ergonomics of a Glock were made so police used to a revolver could transition over easier. And they really aren't that far off when it comes right down to it. I can point shoot mine at 10 yards and keep a tight group every time. And I have other pistols and revolvers too. One of my favorites 9's is the H&K P7M13. I carry it in a cross draw open carry quite frequently. @Blakgun

In all the years I've been shooting I've heard a lot of excuses for that grip angle, but never heard that one before. I have the same issue with the Ruger Mk series, but those are target/hunting pistols, not designed for defense, so it's not as big of a deal. @@Courageous_Lion

A friend of mine told me more glocks blow up than any other pistol. It was hard to believe I worked at a range and pretty much every other pistol we had for rent broke long before the Glock. Maybe Glock 40cals do

Everyone Knows Glocks are near perfect for what they do/are. People don’t get them to be “cool”, It’s just the opposite.. They get them because they work, are safe and are Decades Proven. military proven, agency proven, cheap, easy, excellent, etc.. ….They do, however “bash on” and “rip upon” glocks just to”Be Cool”😂 I mean , they even make videos now..😂

I can see it but only as like a result of scaling, 1% fail rate on 100 sales is one failure but pump that to millions of sales and that 1% starts looking bigger than it is.

I have been carrying the same 2nd gen Glock 21 for 28 years as my primary duty weapon. It has never jammed, misfires, stovepiped, or malfunctioned in any way. You can keep all you other brand lower priced polymer weapons. You get what you pay for and Glock has proven itself to me.

The only way that pistol is that old has never had any kind of malfunction is if it is rarely fired every fire arm.at some point will experience a malfunction. If used.. it is a man made mechanical decice.. so even if it's a mag issue or ammo issue or say it didn't lock back on the final round something has malfunctioned some where... you have a glock not a unicorn. And i hope you have atleast changed your magazines out through out this period because that's the #1 cause of all malfunctions in all.fire arms that have them...

I've owned and carried my Glock 19 Gen 2 for 32 years and I can get any spare part easily. That being said, I never had to change anything other than my recoil spring after putting tens of thousands of rounds thru it. I own a variety of other range guns. Once they were discontinued, spare parts are hard or impossible to get. The beauty of Glocks is that they are reliable and widely available. You'll never have to worry about the availability of spare parts.

Norinco 1911A1, talk about everyone having spare parts. 1911 been in production for over 100 years. Yes. I carry 7 mags. Same amount I carry for my Taurus PT92, Sigma .40. But I carry the 1911 over all of them 10k+ rds with 1 failure.

I have had a Gen2 G19 since 1991 that has had at least 200k rounds through it, and the only thing I have had to do is replace all the springs, the trigger spring and recoil spring assy 2x. The pistol has had a couple misfires due to bad ammo......but it is the most accurate 9mm pistol I own and I can carry it with one in the pipe and one reload and have 35 rounds with +2's on the mags. And it works.

I’ve owned two Glocks throughout my 50 years of hunting shooting and CCW. I’ve found nothing wrong with them they are reliable and seem tuff. But I discovered H&K then Sig and got rid of both my Glocks. I just feel that their cheap feel and no contour just blocky. I found other brands that have a quality feel and look. But to each their own I’m glad people like them.

I went the opposite direction. Turned two Sigs into two Glocks. Same reliability, but Glock's lighter weight, 5 more rounds in the G19 than the Sig 239 despite the same size gun, and Glock's easier and cheaper modification ability. I liked the Sigs, but the Glocks are every bit as capable.

@@CervantesPR1 Yeah. I've also seen pictures of the military sig 320s all in pieces because they about exploded from the stress of firing. Then there's the sig p365 with such a poor design they have broken firing pins everywhere. Then they blame it on the user for "dry firing"

I’ve owned Glock pistols for almost 30 years. I’ve carried a G19 for the better part of 20 years and it’s had thousands upon thousands of rounds through it. It’s never let me down. In total I have six Glock pistols, all Gen 3 and all stock, nothing aftermarket. All plastic sights too. I could part with a lot of pistols but never my 17 and 19.

@@That.1.2020RT If you could try one before you buy that would be great. I’ve shot one a couple times, and they’re definitely popular for concealed carry. The smallest gun I carry is a Glock 26, but it’s just as thick as my G17 and G19. Just be sure to get a good holster too.

Or buyers remorse. Many of these returned Glocks were from the 2020 panic buying craze. Many of Glock buyers were new gun owners who didn’t know any better and were pushed (by Glock fanboys) into getting Glocks at stupid high prices up to $900-$1200 for a Glock 19. Common sense would tell you that new gun owners would rather have a firearm with a manual safety. And please don’t sell me that “Glocks already have a safety” because they don’t. Glocks are single action guns which means that once you load a round into the chamber the gun is cocked and ready to fire. Glock marketing team and the fanboys have everyone smoking 32 flavors of dope.

I have owned my gen one model 20, 10mm for 35 years. It still is my first choice. Badass gun!

In Houston, an HPD Officer transitioned from a revolver to a Colt 1911. He got in a confrontation with a suspect and was killed because the suspect saw the cops safety was on so drew his own weapon and killed the officer. That would not have happened if the officer was carrying a Glock.

If you hold enough force against the trigger, the gun will fire as you disengage the safety. Basically using the safety as the trigger under stress. There are so many ways around not screwing this up that only the officer is to blame here.@@RespectMyAuthoritaah

I bought my Glock 17 after my police department just transitioned from the revolver to the Glock 17. I was so impressed after the Chief convinced me on how much better it was, I bought my own and qualified to carry it on the job. I’ve put thousands of rounds through it and allowed my life to depend on it. After a few years carrying it I too became a Firearms Instructor used by several departments. The only change I made was to add Trijacon sights. It’s been 21 years now and my night sights are still working. I carried my 17 RD mags plus’s a Plus2 mag and one up the spout, giving me 20 rounds in the weapon along with two 17 RD mags for a total of 56 rounds on my belt. Much better than the 18 round duty loads! I am still sold on my Glock choice.

Comprehensive list of gripes that some people have. It’s always nice to see the pluses and minuses of any product and go over them so it’s nice to have somebody badmouth a product even though it’s a good product just to point out some gripes that some people may have. You can have a Glock and just love it. I’m sure so just sit back and relax and look at the gripes and don’t get too excited about it.

Yup. 90-95% of the “cons” of the glocks in this video were all opinions. Not concrete facts. Glocks are still the king of handguns and that’s why there are probably what 10 other companies make Glock knock offs. Can’t say the same thing about Sig, CZ, S&W, Walther, etc. if Glocks were so shit then why is everyone copying them? 😂

I do have a Glock 42 in 380. It is my everyday carry. Works well as I have had no problems with it.

I slowly became a Glock fanboy and guess what I still am. Simple to use and easiest to clean in my opinion. I have 5 and intend to buy more. I'm glad people are returning them so I can pick them up at a discount. Yahoo

There are also a ton of Glock clones on the market. Not just similar to Glock, but perfect reproductions that are fully compatible with brand name Glock. It's all made possible by the expired copyright. Glock has had such a massive impact on the handgun market that a lot of people don't appreciate the significance of polymer frame / striker-fired. It was absolutely revolutionary back in the day, and its design has echoed across innumerable clones, all of which are highly reliable. It's a two-thumbs-up design even if Glock isn't doing the manufacturing.

“easiest to clean”…lol any common handgun on the market is easy to clean..😂 Btw, I think the Sig/Springfield lever takedown is the easiest. Just rock that lever up with one thumb and rip that slide off!

Your manual safety is keep your finger off of the trigger and out of the trigger guard until your sights are on the target and your prepared to shoot.

I love the XDMs. The grip safety gives me piece of mind when holstering. It is easy to holster without depressing it. My P365XL that I pocket carry has a manual safety.

I still like Glocks, but I rented an XD years ago and found it had a better trigger, sights and less recoil (in .40). I'd take an XD even without the grip safety.

For the past few years, since the P365 came out, I have gone from holster carrying my XD-40 to pocket carrying the P365. I loved the convenience, but it always made me nervous. Last year I got the P365XL with the manual safety, which I still don't like as much as the grip safety on the XD. I was pocket carrying at work and moving some heavy materials and later when I got home I realized that the materials had managed to turn off the guns safety in my pocket. Made me realize that a grip safety is still the best route. @@antoniotula262

My 5 cents is, I shoot IPSC for 17 years with a glock 17. All original parts about 200k shots fired and gun is still 100% functional. I use reloads and did had to change from .356 to .357 projectiles. I do from time to shoot other guns HK, Walther, SW shield etc some of them have better trigger etc. But in point of reliability out of the box I can't fault it. I would love to try other guns but here in Australia it has become a pain to get more and availability is limited.

That reliability is why a G19 is my main defensive pistol. Everything else takes a back seat to “just work”. Plus I’ve come to like the trigger. I think of it like a short DA instead of a mushy SA. Sure, might be able to shave some tenths off with a good SA, but that wouldn’t matter in a defensive scenario.

I think Glocks have been more popular than ever. One of the problems though is that many aftermarket companies are making Glock parts now and although many people have been buying gen 3 Glock pattern guns, they haven't been buying actual Glocks and Glock parts. (because Glock don't sell parts. They only sell complete guns and if anyone wants to sell Glock parts, they have to buy completed Glocks and strip them down and sell the parts... so people are just buying aftermarket parts. Also, many of the aftermarket parts are better than the Glock parts, although the Glock OEM parts are most reliable).

True, but the current market price of Glocks and their competitors is most assuredly hurting them. After the Sig P320 won the military contract and began to boast how their frames are interchangeable, it started going downhill for Glock. Some buyers will always gravitate towards the make/model used by the military because they believe it’s the best (I’m not one of those people, even though I like the p320 alright). After Sigs p320 release, the polymer pistol market seemed to explode with options. Sig’s p365 (which I’m sure is dominating Glock at the moment), Ruger released several polymer striker pistols, FN released a few new models, HK released a few including the revised HK45 and HK45C, Canik blew up in popularity with their TP9SF and Elite models that are ridiculously low priced (I just won a Gunbroker auction for the TP9SF Elite with Tungsten cerakote slide for $285 + $30 shipping), and the list goes on and on. Glock pistols are priced much higher comparatively. I love my Glock 19 Gen4. It was my first gun purchase. But 17 years later I’ve gravitated hard towards Sig Sauer’s pistols (and Adams Arms ARs 😊). I ended up selling my only other Glock, which was a G22 Gen4. In case of curiosity, as far as Sig pistols I’ve bought and customized over the last ten years, there’s the P226 .357 Sig that puts the Legion model to shame with Gray Guns everything and Bar-Sto .357 Sig extended and fluted barrel and Sig matte black aluminum grips, P229 with Sig cherry rosewood grips similarly tricked out with Gray Guns everything and a Bar-Sto .357 Sig barrel, and a P229 currently under construction that came as a .357 Sig DAK I’ll be converting to a 9mm DA/SA via Bar-Sto barrel and Gray Guns everything with E2 grip. Plus a P365X RomeoZero that’s had a spring job and will get a Gray Guns trigger soon.

Glock, Sig, s&w, 1911, and ruger owner here. I have no complaints about my glocks. Reliable and always goes bang. For most, it wouldn't matter what they carry because most don't train. It's not so much the gun anymore as it is how efficient one is with one. Someone who puts in the time training with a $500 gun will always be more effective than the one who doesn't and owns a much more expensive race gun. Glocks work for me

I love my 1911. I thought about it when the video mentioned glock hasn't changed aesthetically, and i look at my RI 1911 and thought "huh, things just don't have to change if it works"

Anytime someone focuses on the looks of a gun over the reliability and versatility of a Glock, I stop listening.

I think watching this just made me love my Glocks even more. I have a G19 gen4- and a G22 gen 3 with an after-market barrel that allows me to shoot the cheaper 9mm ammo instead of 40cal S&W.. But I must say I really like my Taurus G2C as well.

What you have said about why people are returning Glocks, or buying other brands are true, but only if we are talking about the audience that the Glock was not designed for. This is a lot like me listing all the reasons that I, as a 65 year old white man, do not care for rap music. It was never designed for me so that makes perfect sense.. I spoke personally to Gaston Glock at the SHOT Show in 1999, and asked him who he designed his pistol for. He told me that while he was happy to sell his pistol to anyone who could legally own it, he designed it for military personnel and other armed professionals. When I asked him what he designed it to do, he said, "To be able to hit a man in the chest under adverse conditions at 50 meters, and do it 100% of the time." The pistol does this admirably, and Gaston himself never cared that the pistol did not meet the desires of people for whom carrying a gun is a fashion statement. I spent many years as a police officer, and my last 10 years were spent carrying a Glock 19 as my duty weapon, and a Glock 26 as my backup. Both would do what they were designed to do and never let me down. For 20 years I also owned a firearms training school that had 29,000 students. I owned a dozen Glocks as training guns and they did exactly what they were supposed to do as well. No armed professional gives a rat's ass about the aesthetics of their duty weapon, and none of us want that weapon to be any more complicated than it has to be. Thus, our Special Forces' insistence on buying the Gen 3 Glock 19 when the pistol is in Gen 5. They simply do not want, or need the additional features dreamed up to spur civilian sales. You comment on the much maligned Glock sights also indicates a lack of understanding about who the gun is aimed at. A rank and file soldier does not give a damn about whether his sights are plastic or not. To him, if he has to use a pistol, he probably won't be using sights, and they are one less thing to rust. Glock factory sights provide a very usable combat sight picture, but I replace them because in hard use I've seen them come off the pistol. To the more advanced person who uses a pistol regularly, they have very specific preferences in what sights they want, and typically replace the issue sights immediately for their desired sights. These preferences are too broad for Glock to guess, so the inexpensive plastic sight makes sense, especially if they are going to be replaced and thrown in the trash. Police departments can simply specify what tritium sights they want and Glock will install them at the factory, or for that matter, plain steel sights from the factory can be ordered. Your complaint about Glock pricing is again, only valid if you do not understand who the primary customer is. While the prices you quoted for retail sales do seem high, professionals are not paying anything like that. For example, if you have a police ID, evidence of being a member of the military, or even a fire fighter or paramedic, you can buy Glock handguns at "Blue Label" prices. For example, two months ago, as a retired officer, I bought a new Glock 19 with three magazines at $399.00, and then later bought a new Glock 43-X at $340. Additionally, Glock sells to military and police organizations at even lower prices. So when you pay what you think of as too much for your Glock at retail, realize that you are making those low agency prices possible. For the last ten years I worked, I was working private security (bodyguard) contracts internationally, and was able to have my Glock serviced almost anywhere in the world, but I didn't have to have it worked on because Glock trained me to do it myself in a no cost Armorer's class. All I ever did was carry a baggie of spare parts in my luggage, which I never needed. My Glocks kept rocking even with the worst ammo that the Third World could produce. One one job, my team had all of our spare magazines in checked baggage in a suitcase that the airlines lost for a week. I was able to buy all the factory Glock magazines we needed in an open air market in Qatar. Try doing that with your Taurus. It has been so long since I've seen anyone in that line of work carrying anything BUT a Glock that I almost don't remember it. 25-30 years ago we all carried Browning Hi Powers overseas, now it is the Glock 19 or 17. Are there other high quality striker fired pistols on the market? Sure there are. Are there cheaper models that are for people for whom price is the most important factor in their buying decision? Of course. Are there handguns which come out of the box being more ready for competition? There are. But for the armed professional now worldwide, is there a better choice in a sidearm? I think not, all things considered. And if you stop to consider who the Glock was designed for, that is as it should be.

lol all that write-up to defend something that wasn't even being attacked 🤣 skip to 1:30 of the video, it was mentioned that Glocks were designed for the military. it was also mentioned that the sights work in a pinch somewhere. the long and short of it is, because of competition, glocks have become somewhat outdated as far as features, price, and value. you can defend glock all you want but in the end, gaston isn't paying you to defend his company lol. you can talk about your credibility and your school etc but the time you spent to type such a long comment to defend glock makes you sound like a fanboy more than anything 😂 that, or you didn't watch the whole video.

As a former US military service member, I still look for that type of firearm. I don't give a hoot about all of the fancy-colored barrels, the fancy sights, nor the fancy handgrips. I still hold my handguns the way I was taught as a kid and that is the cup and saucer type of hold on the pistol. In fact, that is the way the Army taught me to shoot the M1911A1 and the Beretta M9. I see everyone stacking their thumbs along the side of the firearm. The best way to hold your firearm is have it in a holster, reach down and shake hands with it, wrap your hand around the handgrip, and draw the weapon, then you should look down your arm and the pistol is in line with your arm and sighting eye. That's all you need to do, and you can hit a target with ease. Also, so I don't get the yeah you know so much, I was a 19D20 and spent a total of 13 years in the Army.

Why did the us military go with the sig now vs the glock? They didn't turn in what was asked(glock turn in a basic glock) and stayed in the past. So being designed for military isn't a good standing point now as much.

@@paulvanlue6790 You're completely correct about Glock not complying with the terms of the Army's request. The same can be said for Beretta, who tried to change the customer's mind about what they "should want" as opposed to what they asked for. This is always a risky strategy in business. Both Glock and Beretta presented fine pistols with their own good points, one based on simplicity, the other on the economics of the military not having to re-tool everything in their pistol and accessory inventory. But neither product is what the customer asked for. Glock has a long history of producing what they think their customers should want, rather than what they DO want, and often they are right. Witness the introduction of the Glock 42, when the market was demanding a small 9mm from them like the Glock 43. It doesn't matter to the marketplace that the Glock 42 is a more generally useful and controllable small pistol than the Glock 43, it simply wasn't what the customer asked for. SIG may have offered up a less proven design to the Army, that certainly has had teething problems, but at least they knew how to read a request for proposal and respond to it, even if some of the requested features in it were objectively silly. I have my own ideas about which handgun would have been better for military adoption, but the fact is that SIG complied with the assignment and nobody else did. Therefore they earned this major contract. That is just business.

I have carried Glock since 2001.A few years ago s&w came out with the 2.0. I read all the magazines and watched lots of KZread vids.I got one and gave it a chance tried to like it for about a year.One day while out shooting I took a few other side arm’s along including my old every day carry and it was like being reunited with an old friend.I thought the 2.0 was good until I started handing my old glock.The 2.0 is back in the box now in the safe and me and my Glock lived happily ever after.❤🥰

That was a totally misleading thumbnail. Gun on the left looks like a 1911 variant while the one on the right looks like a Glock but upon closer inspection you can see that the factory barrel was replaced with a third party threaded barrel. The catastrophic failure looks like the chamber actually exploded so both not Glock issues

I can say the same for both my Smith & Wesson and my Sig after thousands and thousands of rounds downrange. You would be hard-pressed to find any unreliable polymer, striker-fired pistol over $400 these days.

After buying Sig P320 i realized i made mistake and bought Glock19 gen5. After that it was love at first sight, i bought 43 Vickers edition and Glock36. Simplicity is a key to success.

I love my three Glocks. Made a few adjustments to get them to my perfection. Easy to work on, clean, and modify.

I can’t be the only one who absolutely adores the styling and blocky shape of the Glock. It was the first thing that made me like them, I like the blocky simple lines. Never been a fan of guns with lots of curves.

I've put thousands of rounds through my Glocks back in the day for competition. I'm not getting rid of any of mine. However I'm not blind to newer advancements in technology from other companies either, I just buy them too.

EXACTLY.. these people with that either or mentality are dumb... I love my Glocks.. but that don't mean I dont like my canik. That don't mean my EDC isn't a Springfield xds . I like em all.. but if I could only pick one to make it thru a bad time, it's gonna be the g17

My carry is a security-9 (good, inexpensive for the cops to take). My main 9,10,45 ‘s are Springfield. My G19 gen 3 has never failed me. I just prefer the XDM’s because they are easier to take apart and clean.

I’ve switched from Glock multiple times over the years to the latest and greatest of the moment. Today I’m carrying my Glock again.

I have carried Glock for a duty gun for 23 years. Current carry is a Glock 45 Gen 5. They go bang every time and they shoot where you point them.

After reading a vast majority of comments I'm glad there are shooters out there that share my love of the Glock! It's the one I carry and the one I trust my and my family's life with!

I have a number of guns, as far as pistols are concerned, all of my Glocks have been 100% trouble free and I've fired countless rounds through them. I primarily stick with their 9mm offerings and I love that the magazines all interchange with whatever model Glock you're using - few other manufacturer's can make that claim. I've also had excellent luck with Springfields, but, they cost more, and the Beretta 92 family of pistols also perform very well. The 1911 platform, however, is where I always run into issues. If I'm going to have a problem at the range, it's going to be with a 1911. Bottom line with Glocks is, they always work, they're amazingly simple, and they have so many interchangable parts it's brilliant. The guns are superbly designed and superbly simple - exactly what you want in a gun that you have to rely on.

I own several Glocks, they for the most part sit in my gun safe and rarely get shot compared to my other guns. The only one that is used alot is my Glock 42 which is my summertime ccw. Honestly from a selling standpoint a Taurus will sell quicker than a Glock in my area.

Glocks are a very good pistol. It’s greatest attribute is parts availability. If my Glock needed a new part, I could get one today or tomorrow. That’s not going to be so easy with other brands. The benefit of so many people carry Glocks, is mag sharing. The stock sights are steel,reinforced, and not as cheap as some people think. I still replace mine with Trijicons.

You can get steel / metal OEM sights for the Glock or aftermarket sights, but the plastic ones they often come with AREN'T "steel reinforced." They simply have a small and thin metal plate, that reinforces the dovetail type shape the rear sights lock in.. An helps to secure the sight in place tighter..

First pistol I ever shot was a G21. I shot the crap out of that thing and shot it well too. Now I got a G20. 16 rounds of 10mm. Just not that many choices for for me. Especially for the price. They are extremely reliable and durable. Like Honda, not flashy but guaranteed to get you to where your going for a decent price.

I think there is a relatively unknown feature about glocks almost no one talks about. Despite being ambi gripped, I recall glocks being purposed for single hand fire unlike most conventional self defense fire arms, think that came from the creator or company themselves.

That's not really a feature. Handguns designed before the 70s were meant to be fired from one hand as well. Nowadays the two handed hold is accepted as the standard.

I did not get rid of my Glocks because of the sites (or any other reason), I simply changed out the sites for some higher quality fiber optic-tritium sites. The only time one of my Glocks failed to cycle reliably, it was totally my fault. The gun was oil dry. Once I re-oiled it, it ran perfectly again. You can’t drive your car without oil either.

I will still buy Glocks, now that they're being turned in by previous owners there should be great deals out there,also the canik looks great also.

I carry a 1911 FS as EDC. Have tried polymer and polymer/metal frame. Just enjoy the weight and can be used as a steel club. Have a 1911 built in 1913 I carried till 2 years ago. Retired it for a new 1911. Couldn't shoot the light guns because in my opinion firing 45acp , keep jump high. No weight

I have owned 3 Glocks since 2001. The only malfunction I had was when qualifying law enforcement and caught a stovepipe in a G17. My Gen 3 19 has over 3,000 rounds and I have only had one problem with failure to feed but that was because of experimenting with a cheap mag. Fact is, every one compares their guns to Glocks because Glock is the team to beat. All in all, Glock is still the world heavy weight champ. 9 out of 10 SEALs agree.

they return it because it's too much gun for some and is so relevant that it is the gun that all others are still measured with and this video just makes that point without glock you lack content

I’ve been a 1911 user all my life , we are well in to the 21st century and Glocks just work ,every time , with mechanical simplicity .

What I personally don’t like about Glocks is the angle of the grip, it just doesn’t feel right to me.

The aftermarket has made the manual safety thing moot. I have outfitted my pistol with a trigger that has a small push button safety on the side that blocks or permits the trigger from being pulled.

I have owned a Glock since 1992 don't try to adapt the pistol to you adapt yourself to the pistol you have to many variables the pistol doesn't. Mushy trigger? You just have to learn to shoot it properly odds are the pistol will always be better than you can shoot. But I'm not a gun collector I am a gun user it's a tool that has a job to do and it's dam good as what it does. I really don't care if you break into my house and think my Glock is ugly, you're going to be on the receiving end of it!

I use to be anti striker pistol period. I have always loved the traditional hammer fired semi automatic and love the option of either single or double action. Well I'm now a Glock fan I finally broke down and tried a Glock and I actually liked the trigger pull and the weight of the firearm. I now EDC a Glock 21 and I have more 45 acp ammo than I did 40 cal in my other pistol with a lighter carry load. The price for this Glock was awesome way cheaper than most other 45 caliber pistols that can't match its capacity or reliability.

I hate the trigger on my G17, even after trigger work. 1911s spoiled me.

Ngl it’s just something about the Glock that speaks to my inner child. Everything I thought a gun should like like as a kid is how a Glock looks.

The 9X19 Glock was the first pistol I owned, and there is absolutely no reason for anyone trained or not to have a negligent discharge. The safety is either between your ears or it isn't, the gun doesn't matter.

The only problem I’ve ever had out of any of my Glocks was a cycling issue one time. Ironically, it was due to a cheap aftermarket mag. 🚀✨🚀✨🚀

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Bought a Glock 42 a year ago for the wife. It was a jam machine. We ended up shooting 1000 rounds through it as Glock advised this was needed to stop the jamming problem (started at 100 rounds, then 250, then 500, then 1000). In 1000 rounds we had one single clip not jam. We tried every kind of round Glock recommended over the span of the 1000 rounds to no avail. Glock then replaced the return spring, still jammed. They tried in every way to not refund our money but ulimatley gave us our money back and the wife bought a Charter Arms .38 special revolver. It was her first semi-auto handgun and now she wants nothing to do with another one. I've got Glock 19 that hasn't given me much trouble over the years, but has never been as reliable as my Walther PPK/S that I carry every day. Will I ever buy another Glock? Nope.

The only time I shot a Glock was when I initially qualified for my CHL in TX. At that time the CHLs were issued depending on revolver v. SA. If you qualified w a SA you could carry either but if you qualed with a revolver you only could carry a revolver. That changed a few years later. At that time I just carried a .357. The Glock I rented at the range did very well but when I did buy a SA I stuck with hammer fired as my experience was with the 1911 in the Corps and just felt more comfortable. I did later get a double action CZ 75 clone though. The Sarsilmaz B6P compact.. Pretty good for $290 and I still carry that today though I still alternate with my Dan Wesson .357.

I have 2 Glocks, a 17 and a 21, both gen 3’s. I enjoy shooting them! They are great for teaching someone new to firearms how to shoot and easy to clean.

Take down is not easy compared to nearly everything except maybe Walther CCP.

Im gonna be the outlier here and say that i really like the simple pure utilitarian aesthetics of Glock. I got the gen5 g34 and theres just something about it that i like. Perhaps the longer slide balances out the blocky look more proportionately?

I agree totally. That concept also works on other guns which is why I shave my pubic hair.

I prefer a 1911 myself but, I do like the G19 gen 5. I don't worry about the safety because I carry my safety with me every where I go. Sometimes I use it to scratch my nose. I agree the sights are crap. My son loves his Canik.

I own a Glock 43 and carry it everywhere I go and have never had any problems with it and have fired thousands of rounds though it,. Many companies manufacture hand guns based on the Glock platform.

I don't own a Glock but I am here looking for reliability issues, I can't find many people complaining about those yet.

Glocks have 3 safety I've never seen one have a accidentally discharge I've seen someone pick one up and intentionally applied about 6 and half pounds of pressure to the trigger without realizing it was loaded no extra safety could prevent such stupidity. If your to dumb to be around a glock stay clear of any double action revolver as well they also don't have a external safeties. Only way a glock goes off is if you pulled that trigger. Perfect for a high anxiety situation and you need to get that gun into the fight immediately every micro second counts and if your already shot you might draw your gun and forget to take the safety off. Another issue with a outside safety for me is that's one more thing that could break on your gun or cause the gun not to fire for any reason. That a oxymoron to me. I've see all kinds of issues guns that are on safety but still go off when you drop it. Give you a false sense of security. With the glock its straight forward you know what its gonna do and one thing I'm sure it won't do is fire when I drop it on the ground or throw it across the room for that matter. I've seem people while shooting accidentally flick on the safety breaking their concentration etc. Firing is a violent action so some guns something about that safety will be messed causing the gun to miss fire soft strike the primer. Or even though you think the safety is off its stuck on because something broke. You go to flick the safety off and it's stuck I've personally seen all these issues myself while shooting different guns. But never with a glock that's a unnecessary peace of a firearm that is all. I really can't stand spring field xds with their grip safety or the 1911 I've had issues with those also some have a grip and thump safety and if your not holding the gun just right it won't fire or fails to disengage even when held properly. Violence doesn't come with a warning. And you never know what kinda situation you'll be facing you might have to shoot from a compromised position. Sometimes it's not even about hitting the target but just getting shots off to begin with. Causing the threat to become disoriented. Once you've broken their focus then you can adjust and put shot on target the function as well high capacity of the glock allows this strategy to be very effective. Hell its more important to not get shot then it is to land a shot. If I can put down an overwhelming amount of fire power on my attacker it might open up a window of time that I need to advance my possession,move to more adequate cover or just escape the situation entirely. Without knowing or caring if I actually hit anyone. Even with peace broken or missing from a glock the gun can still function. Though it might not work well but it's better then nothing. They've buried a glock for 5 years then dug it up and ran a thousand rounds through the gun. The same feat cannot be Said for 90% of the alternatives he recommended. As they haven't even been on the market for 5 years to prove that they're just as reliable as the glock. They're still in their beginning stages and being recalled for number of different safety and functionality returns. When I see a guns been recall it discourages me from ever buying that gun in the future even it the company claims to have fixed the issue. How can I be sure the one I'm buying doesn't have the issue? Same thing can be said for these newer generations of glock. I own all generations of glock and and some off gens like the 43 and 43x but the only one I truly trust is gen 1 through 3 preferring the gen 3. From personal experience. And you can pick up a gen 3 right now for a great price. They claim their new gen 5 is the best they've ever made but being a owner of a gen 5 ill tell yay. It don't got shit over my gen 3s except a price tag.

Only problem with Glock sights is no Tritium insert and light collector tubes. Glock 5.5 lb triggers aren't the best, but they hardly could be considered mushy. Put a 2.5# or 3.5 # OEM connector in it. Its fine with the connector change. Glock went with 5.5 or higher for liability reasons in our litigious society.

Thank you for telling people that guns are tools with different uses. I have been telling people this for years!

As a NYPD cop for 24 years, I can tell you the Glock 19 had their share of problems, especially with hollow point ammo. So I took the Sig p226 instead of Glock and s&w. In the early 2000s, Glock was forced to come to the range and service all the Glocks we owned and was authorized to carry, both on and off duty. I will say, my off-duty/backup Glock 26 never malfunctioned, but Glock still tuned and cleaned it. Now retired I still carry it along with a p365 and sig p226. The gold dot 124gr +p jacketed hollow points gave it hell before Glock stopped by the range, now they're much more reliable. not as reliable as my sig.

NYPD tinkered with the G19 trigger twice (NY-1 & NY-2 triggers). Both were horrible triggers. Hollow points are all I've ever shot with Glocks & no problems. NYPD did have a couple issues with the Sig P226. Rust (they cheaped out on the K-Kote finish), and the mags often wouldn't go all the way in (they added a baseplate to bottom of mags). This is why it wasn't an available option in the late 90s. Never heard of any problems with the Smith 5946.

@@antoniotula262 all they did was change the trigger to a target 🎯 trigger and replaced the stick spring to 12 lbs.. you will get use to it with all the hot ammo they use. Glock is designed for fmj military ammunition not police ammunition. The trigger has nothing to do with it. The shape of a defensive round is a little different than target ammunition. I showed a couple videos where a nypd cop 👮‍♀️ had a feeding issue during a gunfight in an elevator. If you slow it down you can see it.

@tax905972 I've shot & carried 3 different duty Glocks from a 1st generation G17 with standard 5.5lb spring to the notorious NY-2 in an issued G19 (also owned a G23 & G27). When I said horrible NY-1 & NY-2 triggers, I was referring to the pull weight of 8lbs & 12lbs respectively, not the physical plastic trigger part that touches your finger. It's a subjective issue, but for me it made a huge difference going from a 12lb pull to a 5.5lb pull. Every semi-auto handgun will more reliability feed FMJ rounds, but unlike the 1911 pistol (aka Colt .45), most quality duty sized handguns from the mid 70s till today will reliably feed thousands of hollow points or +p rounds (Beretta 92, Sig P220 series, HKs, CZs & yes, especially Glocks of any caliber). The original long slide 9mm Glock 34 was designed as a competition pistol for IPSC matches & came with an even lighter than standard 5.5lb trigger spring (3.5 - 4.5lbs). *I just checked because I thought I'd read it somewhere. Sure enough, NYPD class of 2021 were issued guns with the normal 5lb trigger after a test of 457 recruits averaged a score of 93.5 vs 88.7 with the 12lb trigger. This wasn't rocket science as they say. A large part of the problem is the brass making these decisions are very rarely going to be gun enthusiasts who regularly shoot. These are folk with fond memories of their. 38 Smith revolvers (Remember, it took Officer Scott Gadell losing his life reloading his revolver before some genius thought maybe we should go semi auto 9mm)

There is a reason why JSOC and SOCOM units ditched the 1911 and have adopted GLOCKs. Same with allied SMU’s. I’ve been carrying a GLOCK for over 22 years and will continue to do so.

After qualifying twice a year after year at the dept, I remembered to ask my range instructor if he'd see if I could qualify with it. He said, "Suuuure! If You provide the ammo!" So I did. And again, I qualified on the range and then through the gauntlet, I again received a 100%. I don't care what the piece looks like. I don't care whether it has a safety on the piece or not. In the military we went through thousands and thousands of rounds, function drills, body armor drills and even had to qualify with our Off hands, just in case our strong arm was incapacitated. Then after retiring I became a Glock Armorer. And now after over 30 Years of using a Glock in one form or another, I still like them. Of course I want to change my sights to all metal but, they're still in perfect shape and work just fine. Sure there are many Glocks out there, but this one is mine. "Beware the man who only owns one gun. He probably knows how to use it." - I have no idea.

i like them for the NO safety no nonsense simple basics - security work . . .

I am far from a fanboy in Glocks, but I have a gen 3 G17 and its fine. I also wanted to see for myself what all of the dustup was about, so I got one. Time moves on and better choices will be out there.

On the triggers, it is designed for basically combat use which mean you are going to yank or slap the trigger under stress...and it's striker fired which means as you pull the trigger it pull the striker pack to the firing point so each pull is actually completing the cocking motion...a saying i live by...a light or match grade trigger has no place in a fighting weapon...

I have always loved glock pistols, but the one thing you didn't point out is the grip angle, it is off and nothing like the 1911 for a natural point on sight line for instant target acquisition

The only thing I REALLY didn't like about the 'stock' Glock was the grip angle. The P80 lower fixed that, giving it a steeper angle that's much like a 1911. I hand load and have run some pretty hot ammo through both my G21 & G17 uppers, and while I did replace both barrels with Lone Wolf's, I've never worried about a KABOOM. The other upgrades I did were night sights and replacing the standard polymer recoil spring assembly with stainless steel ones. Another plus of the Glock is the small number of parts. 36 is almost half of the 58 parts in a 1911, and after building a few Glocks you can almost do it blindfolded. For me? The Glock is a fine pistol. Not as pretty as my stainless 'wheel guns', but with double stack mags it's what I would bring into battle.

Hot loads aren’t the problem although Glock says do not use +p ammo its squib rounds that cause issues

@@BLEACH366 I thought Glock said that most +p ammo is safe. Have seen many people shoot the hottest +p+ rounds without any issues too (in 9mm anyways). Even Buffalo Bore and Underwood ammo function without any issues.

@@BLEACH366 Squibs are almost always caused by insufficient powder in the case, excessive crimping or compromised powder rather than hot (or +p) ammo. Glock's warnings are because of their barrel design. Either way, when you swap out the OEM Glock barrel for an aftermarket like I did, everything changes. Glocks 'recommendations' go out the window.

@@oregonpatriot1570 🤣 you are talking about switching parts so its not junk and its not the barrel its the composite frame when a glock goes kaboom the whole frame explodes on a metal frame gun the back of the barrel blows straight up instead of the whole frame blowing off your fingers Ive done excessive research on this Glock is being sued they are also striker fire guns when the pin wears out they can also just fire on their own not even being touched its kinda comical to me anyone even tries defending them against a 1911 the most scrutinized gun ever used in the military they where dropping them from over ten feet high

Carried a glock 23 for 26 years, still have it. 5 yrs training at Thunder ranch. NEVER a malfunction that wasn't intentionally caused. Trigger and accuracy are just fine for self defense. What I have learned, practice and carry it in a holster that covers the trigger.. most effective safety is " finger straight". I would take this pistol to any gunfight.

People who buy NODs to shoot steel at midnight to impress people on Instagram, are not the same as "non deployed" soldiers. At all... In any way. Or even close. You should feel bad for even writing something that stupid.

I own a S&W TSW Tactical 5903 9mm, sure it's heavier then a Glock, but for me it's as solid as a tank, and has never had any issues. I'll keep my S&W, it'll be with me long after most Glocks have hit the junk pile, I prefer stainless steel to plastic any day.

good mini list, i'm not on any single brands side when i go shopping or decide what to protect me. What works, works is how i look at it but, did you take into account the value in warranty and unparallel reliability (if taken care of them by following Glocks step instead of general gun knowledge) or performance and endurance in harsh conditions, just general things like that?

THE FIRST TIME I HELD AND SHOT MY FIRST GLOCK IT WAS RELATIONSHIP THAT WILL NEVER BE BROKEN

I initially went with a Kimber micro 9 as a small 9mm conceal carry pistol, had a lot of reliability issues rented both a g43 and sig 365, ended up liking the g43 better since it felt less snappy. I got a g43x and now only stick or sig or glock, I don't want to troubleshoot issues or send stuff back to the manufacturer. I'm willing to take a boring gun that I can trust my life with over something more exciting,new,flashy, or inexpensive. I carried a Beretta m9 everyday for years in the military so even a g17 is a vast improvement in weight and size.

I have a relative that has a G 21C and it’s a pos. Feed jam problems, stovepipe issues and a few others. Happened to me on several occasions while using it. They even sent it back to g and they did a few things to it like polishing the feed ramp. Didn’t fix it. They might be good looking but for me that’s where I draw the line.

I have a WWII Reminton Rand M1911A1 a Glock 17, a S&W M&P 9mm and some S&W revolvers. If i had to sell them, my Glock would be the last one.

CZ 75b has been my preferred choice since 1984 for a 9mm. Colt 1911 Commander in .45. Both are a perfect fit in my hands. Both have Pachmayers grips. I have three of each and 18 OEM magazines of both kinds. None other need apply since. Their weight is the least of my worries. Not saying they are the best, I just know them best. To each their own.

I love both of your choices when I am on my own time, and I carried a Commander daily concealed for 13 years before I switched my carry gun to Glock. There is nothing on earth wrong with a CZ-75B either!

ya, i own those guns and glocks, my 19x is still my go to. the 75 is an accurate pistol but it does malfunction and the 1911 malfunctions quite a bit. also im guessing you haven't done much running and maneuvering, rolling around in the mud and dirt, or carrying all day every day?

I bought my glock because I loved that it didn't have an external safety, decocker, or any other trivial shit slapped on the aide of it. I also love the simplistic square look. There's no need for all the extra serrations and giant logos and shit that glock competitors add to their guns. It does what its supposed to reliably, efficiently, is incredibly reliable and resilient, and doesn't have a bunch of unnecessary levers and what's it's on the side of it. Just pull it out, pull the trigger, and you're done!! That being said, glock could work on some better factory sights, and add a metal cleaning rod to the case.... That plastic rod they give you is just insulting. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with my purchase.

Springfield XD-M .40 for me - that I can chamber in 9mm with a barrel and recoil spring change if need be. I also have a budget SAR9 in stainless steel that performs really well and is built solid. Nothing against Glocks, but the Springfield is soooo smoooooth all the way around - and the SAR is slowly breaking in to be nearly as good as the Springfield, if not even better (since it's newer)......

The SAS chose to use the Glock 17/19. Aesthetics are largely irrelevant for something intended to kill an enemy. How about reliability, accuracy and quality of manufacture?

As a guy who carries and trains with this pistol for thousands of rounds, I can appreciate it. I definitely agree with a lot of issues that Glock has. Triggers, sights, blocky appearance, etc. I get it. I've gotten used it. It's like a new pair of boots. Hurt like hell breaking them in but after awhile, they fit like a glove.

My first handgun was a gen 1 Glock 22. It was ok, but it had two issues I couldn’t get over. One, the plastic frame had a distinctive flex I didn’t like. But the worst was the fact that I shoot left-handed and that gun has a propensity to eject it’s brass right into my forehead. After having hot brass end up dropping down behind my glasses more than once, I forced myself to learn to shoot right-handed. So, I credit Glock with my ability to shoot equally well with either hand. Anyway, I sold it and never looked back. I tend to hang around 1911 style handguns these days.

I collect fine vintage pistols such as the Swiss made Sig P210 and HK P7. These are all steel and beautifully manufactured by the old ways of the past… yet today I purchased a Glock G48 for its slim, simple and timeless looks and love the way it feels in my hand. I’ve shot one before and it’s snappy but I can cut large ragged holes into the bullseye from 10 yards freehand. It’s a great piece of modern engineering!

I did have a Glock 30 blow up on me in my early 20s . Ended up being a over pressured round from some brand the range carried . Glock did repair the pistol free of charge , so that was nice . Cut my bang finger up pretty bad in the process.

Here in Europe, many sport shooters have a Glock, often next to a steel frame gun. I use a 1911 for competition, but my Glock 34 Gen 5 is so much fun to shoot and learn to master.

Hi there. I now use a STI Trojan 6inch in 9mm for competition. Super accurate gun that will probably last for a life time. My first 1911 was a colt series 70 in 45 ACP. I later had a Wilson Combat barrel with compensator fitted. The second was a Springfield with factory compensator in 38 super. My Glock 34 gen 5 is more a fun gun. However, I installed LPA adjustable sights, a one pieve guide rod with different springs and a Timney alfa trigger. With reduced hand loads also this gun became a tack driver. Hoever it is a bit more difficult to shoot because of the much lighter weight.

Nothing here to keep me from buying a Glock, they are reliable, easy to get upgrade parts for. There is a good reason why most all major law enforcement agencies use the Glock 19, because it always goes boom when you pull the trigger.

Wrong!! The ONLY reason Glock was bought by so many LE agencies was 1/ cheap price 2/ it was easier to transition from revolver to Glock without dealing a thumb safety. Sure there various S&W metal frames on 59 family that had a rep for reliability but they were more $$$. So the Glock did not have any real competition, a whole different universe than now. Plus the Cocaine Wars had whipped up a hysteria that more than 50 rounds were needed to venture out into the wild, which was quite exaggerated nationwide. After Glock gained a foothold then came the .40 then came generational changes then came the 9mm back then came another generation. Glock offered killer deals if you traded your used Glocks in for new ones. See a pattern emerging??? Can you see why there's so many Glocks floating around? Its all politics and money......mostly money. Glock is a master at both.

@@LuvBorderCollies True, not complete. Such an event that you described would only last a short amount of time till the political tides turn. Tides have turned yet Glock is still king. Your basis for it's longevity is not valid.

I have a Glock 21SF, Smith and Wesson MP1.0 and a Smith and Wesson Shield. They are all similar. Only change was the trigger on the S&W mp1.0 Apex trigger, with safe trigger pull weight. My Glock is still my favorite by far.

I like polymer and striker fire pistols. Walther PDP is what I carry and it is amazing ! It is not hard to put a manual saftey on a Glock. The aftermarket on PDP sucks.
