Why The Trek To Gurez Valley In Kashmir Is So Special | Indiahikes

👉🏽India ends at Gurez. It is the northernmost latitude of Kashmir. This part of Kashmir is very different from what we see on our Kashmir Valley treks,” shares Arjun Majumdar, Founder-CEO of Indiahikes.
“To go to the northernmost tip, you cross the Razdan Pass. And this pass crossing changes everything.
“On the other side of the pass, the landscape changes totally. This is the Kashmir of ancient silk route times. If you think you have seen Kashmir by visiting the Kashmir valley, then you have not seen Kashmir yet.
“The species of the trees, the shape of the valley, the colours, everything is different from how it is in the Kashmir Valley. The beauty of Gurez is spectacular and special. Trekkers have not seen this Kashmir before,” says Arjun.

I think indiahikes is only organization in India that can explore mostly unexplored treks in kashmir properly and run professionally for nature lovers from all over the world. Love if IH opens more treks in kashmir like recently opened bodhpathri lakes trek

Gurez is best destination for advanture tourism and tracking. Topography is different from rest of valley and most of places in high altitude in area are totally new palaces to discover

He is absolutely right. People who know kashmir from srinagar, sonmarg, pahalgam, then I m sorry they don't know nothing about kashmir. I hv been to kashmir 12 times. I explore many countries but trust me kashmir is next level.

We would need your help Arjun. We are starting a campaign to press Govt of India to actively consider a brand new highway alignment which starts at Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh and then touches Hatkoti - Chirgaon - Sangla - Wangtu - Kafnu - Mud - Kaza - Korzok. It will provide a whole new access route from Delhi / Chandigarh to Leh. Three high passes stand in the way - Buran Ghati Pass, Pin Bhabha Pass and Parang La, which would need massive tunnel projects. I know this sounds laughable and almost utopian, but most big projects start off with a daring thought. An off shoot of this could be the Pin Parvati Pass tunnel which links Mud village in Spiti with Manali. If and when we get down to creating a detailed report for a presentation, we would need your assistance to map the three passes. I hope we can create a compelling enough report. Thanx !

This would largely impact our env, creating tunnels hollows our mountains. These tunnels and highways are now a days are major reason for landslides. Just because for comfort we shall not put env at stake

Hi Chollada, You can go to Gurez valley as a tourist, that shouldn't be an issue. But if you're planning to go on a trek on your own, we are not very sure of any such restrictions. You will have to check with TRC, Srinagar. If you're interested to join on one of our Indiahikes groups, you sure can! But, the season for this year is over. We'll be opening groups for next year around July - August. Keep an eye out on our trek page - indiahikes.com/gurez-valley-trek#view-dates
