    @@KingRichardDeLeonheart the grand duchy of Lithuania had converted way before the battle of Grunewald with the King of Poland Jagello and King of Lithuania Vitold who were brothers and also both Lithuanian. The Christianisation was just a pretext for war.

    That's sort of a broad criticism, and might also apply to the enemies of the Teutonics as much as any actor in military history.

    @@RomanLion The thing is The Lithuanian and Polish kingdoms were states based upon their respective nationalities while the Teutonic State was, in theory at least, a religious order who's only purpose was to convert the Baltic states. Once that was no longer the case after the Union of Krewo, the order no longer had any right to exist.

    @@cov.teo.8131 The Church would've never agreed that the order had no right to exist, so that's merely one perspective. Others, especially the order itself and the Church that sponsored it, would've disagreed with that idea. The views of the order's enemies aren't necessarily factual, they represent one political perspective. In political conflicts throughout history, disagreement is a fact, that's why you have war.
