I like the scene of Din going through the ritual and seeing Bo’s reaction to it. She knew that to him it wasn’t *just* tradition, a performance put on for a crowd, for Din this was a true religious experience, which also made me appreciate her gifting him the full context of why there, why *those* waters.
I agree that it feels like we're seeing the gradual birth of a legendary figure; I like that the story started out so humbly.

Grogu may be the heir, but until Grogu is old enough Mando is gonna rule, which fits pretty well because Grogu’s species age very slowly; so Grogu would be around 110 years old, which I’m guessing it’s similar to 16 years for humans, by the time Mando reaches his 90s (having in mind Yoda died at 800 years old saying it was a pretty advanced age, what would be 90 human years)
The mythosaur is a great addition to the show already I don’t know how I felt about Bo stealing the show this episode but she’s definitely improved since S2 and the clone wars depiction of her. I’m really hoping mando just takes the reigns tames that mythosaur and unites the Clans once again just like Canderous once did

I love Bo so it was pretty great for me, they can make the show about more than just Din and Grogu, like past episodes explore other characters alongside Din and see who they are and their history. I honestly think they might be setting up a romance between the two, Grogu needs a mom.

Filoni knows how to develop characters, he made Ahsoka more likable over time on purpose. Maybe Bo Katan is on a similar redemption arc.
I was really sad Bo didnt mention her sister Satin. Seems like it would of fit perfect when mando and her were walking though the ruins, the perfect moment to mention her sister and how see ruled mandalor in peace for a time and how she's glad her sister didn't live to see the destruction of the planet.
@IsaacKuo
Жыл бұрын
It would have been far more awkward, because at the time Bo wasn't really that broken up about Satine's death or her part in it. I think they're showing that Bo still hasn't fully come to terms with her own part in the downfall of Mandalore, and they're saving her discussion of her own guilt and redemption for later.
@tjmcfadden5137
Жыл бұрын
It probably has to do with that while she never wanted her sister dead she did still ideologically disagree with her and it’s not like this was ever settled. While Bo isn’t a strict traditionalist she still believes in many of the old core creeds of the Mandalorians. At that it wasn’t like Satine ever united the Mandalorians and all were new Mandalorians but she had other backing (Jedi and republic) and they were forced into it. It’s a hard discussion but we also see that in the end the Mandalorians did eagerly take back up their warrior roots with many not even carrying to mention the New Mandalorian period.
@kleeblattchen38

that would have probably been a little too heavy and too soon for her to talk about this with mando... maybe at a later point... maybe even at the point when din gets to unite the mandalorians again (if it happens that way) it would give her statement even more gravitas

Even without the reveal of the mythosaur, I feel that scene was phenomenal. When we first look at the Living Waters of Mandalore, you almost feel the weight of history and culture as Din Jarin takes it in and begins the rite of cleansing. Hell, we even see Bo Katan begin to understand the significance of these practices that she has written off for the longest time as simple glorification of a bygone age.
I'm definitely leaning towards Din & Bo jointly reuniting Mandalore, I hope that's where they're headed. Based on trailers we know the Watch comes in to help Navarro repel the pirates in what seems to be Bo's Gauntlet, as well as Din leading a group of other Mandos at various points soo... edit: I watched it again and it looks like the Mandos that drop out of a Gauntlet all have the same color armor like Night Owls or Death Watch proper, meanwhile the Watch with their more colorful palette are on the ground by the former IG-11 statue. And one of them seems to take out Vane right by the anzellen workshop. The shots with Din & his contingent all appear to be on some desert/cliff biome, so it could be Tattooine again or the 73rd desert planet in SW.

@@GameMindOfficial Eh, some IPs are guilty of that, I generally don't care much when you consider some other stuff has had cut content in trailers too. The trailers for s3 here weren't egregious for spoiler butthurts; I'm assuming what we've been shown might play into ep. 1-4 maybe 5, and even then it's not played straight. The content always gets cut & edited so that it evokes a narrative that the trailer is presenting. Example, my earlier predictions for the season were loosely correct in a broad sense from the trailers, but without the context being provided to those scenes the trailers only really give us the pieces on the board and not what they mean or how they happen. I dunno, I do enjoy watching things blind to the plot but I think I prefer having context as well as theorycrafting the next installment based on what we know.

Din Djarin already owns the Darksaber, if he learns how to ride the Mythosaur, he could theoretically becomes the new ruler of Mandalore, whether willingly or not. If Din does become the new ruler, that could rewrite the whole SW lore in a new direction.
@granatmof

not really. Uniting the Mandalorians and heading off to some distant space is meh, or they control their own sector and ignore the threat of the First Order, or they get defeated by the First Order. The problem with inbetweenquels is the beginning and ending are already decided. Now if this was taking place outside of the Skywalker Era, then yes it can do whatever, because it doesn't have to deal with all plotholes bad writing, inconsistencies of the Skywalker Saga.
The monster fight during the “baptism” scene in the first episode foreshadowed what happened in the Living Waters-and it allowed the two “baptism” scenes to bookend the episodes. Not only that, it set up Din as a savior of his people, which I’m sure they’ll build on now that he and Bo Katan have encountered a Mythosaur.
@00Recoil
Жыл бұрын
Bo literally pulled Din from the water. Interesting that Bo Katan mirrored the role of the Armorer as the High Priest facilitating the baptism. Even to the extent of her reading the plaque explaining the significance of the area, much as the Armorer explained the history to the new initiate.
It's only 2 episodes in, and we already have a general idea for how things might go. Can't wait to see how it all plays out.
This show just keeps getting better and better. This thing gave me chills to the bone. I was terrified FOR them. That thing is MASSIVE. I can not wait to see what comes of this. Awesome breakdown.
I feel like the plot is building up to something really large, such as Din or even Grogu becoming the great mandatorily reclaimer, as such with the irony of how Bo Katan doesn’t believe in the old traditions of the Watch yet she just saw the Mythosaur and Din holding the prophesied Darksaber
I have a feeling that Din will be the Luke to Bo Katan’s Leia, particularly in the Legends sense. Luke was the big damn hero, but it was Leia who stepped up in the government while Luke went off to do his own thing.
I *could* be wrong, but I feel Grogu may have a big part to play in dealing with the mythosaur in the next episode. He seems to share Ezra's "Connect With Beast" ability, as seen with his calming Boba's rancor.
I definitely think the show could've benefitted if it spent more time building up to the mines. It would've been cool if we'd seen mando exploring the ruins in search of clues to where the mine might be and maybe even establishing some new mysterious subplot or mandalorian lore. The pacing felt a bit off too; he gets to mandalore, randomly gets captured by some unnamed creature, gets rescued in quick succession, and reaches his objective right after without any more difficulty.

@granatmof

Redeemer. or Honorable, or Vadder, or the Searcher. Or Mandalore the Revanchist if he reclaims a bunch of lost Mandalorian territory.
I think Din trying to revive IG-88 was a nice touch. He knew what he needed, who had it, and felt it was worth a shot. It felt like a natural decision, which led him, organically, to Peli and R5. Some of the best story threads are those that evolve naturally from characters planning things out, then having to adapt as curve balls get thrown at them. That's what made "The Slayers" so good.
Someone pointed out that the episode was heavily borrowing from HG Wells novels, you have the creatures being obvious reference to the Morlocks and the decayed civilisation from The Time Machine which I came to the same conclusion (also a few visual nods to the Mines of Moria from LOTR), but he also pointed out that the droid piloting cyborg creature capturing humans in cages to drink their blood for food is also what the aliens did in War of the Worlds.
What would be a big twist is if the armorer and that sect are brought to Mandalor and meet up with the side of Bo Katan’s sect. Some kinda scuffle breaks out and Paz Vizsla is trying to retake the darksaber some of the new gut owls are beating on the watch people and Djin is trying to stop Paz and talk everyone down with then Grogu using the force to communicate with the Mythosaur hops up on it and asked it to roar getting everyone’s attention to stop fighting!!
We are gonna get a Kyju battle in starwars and I'm actually hyped for it! It's no coincidence that last week we saw the cloned zilo beast in the bad batch and the Mythosour this week. We are clearly gonna get a big battle on Mandalor between the Mandalorians and an Imperial remnant that will bring at least one zilo beast to the battle field and Din and/Grogu is gonna call the Mythosour out tonight it.

It was also possibly the first fight she was in where there wasn't anyone to help her. She's always been part of a squad, a team, or had someone to report to. The leader of Mandalore stands apart because their the leader. It's partly why the mythmaking around the leader relies on personal and singular achievement.
I don't think Mando will be interested in the Mythosaur. He came to Mandlore to bathe in the living waters and accomplished that ( he already shows no interest in leadership with dark saber present) but Bo . BO ! On the other hand ..is head over heels for that toothy beast of Mandalorian Myth and Legend.

Ok now that we have the mythosaur let’s bring out the Basilisks!! (legendary war droids rode during the Mandalorian Wars)
I was in tears knowing where this was going and I like it
Mando has no desire to pursue Mandalorian leadership. Bo Katan did use the Dark Saber proficiently in combat to rescue Mando after he lost it while being caught with his guard down, getting captured and rendered helpless.
Yeah, next week we'll see Mando riding the Mythosaur- but only if Bo holds it still for him first (since he can't do anything himself).

Kazdan Paratus was the first thing I thought of when I saw the creepy droid thing. I don't think it has any connection to him but I did like the design.
Its still really weird how the return to Tatooine wasn't at the end of the first episode and had him check in with Bo right before heading to Mandalore instead. Very good episode though. Loved that we got to see that Grogu's practice with the force actually paid off.
grogu getting bo reminded me of R2 getting the Jedi at the temple, but it made more sense as the moon was like a 5 min flight there since it was in the same system
I've been waiting for Mandalorian lore-heavy episodes since this show started and this season has finally given me what I wanted. I literally stopped breathing when I saw the mythosaur. I can't wait until we see the Children face the rest of the remaining Mandalorians, and whether Dinn is no longer Dar'manda.
When Din was entering the Living Waters, saying the words of the Creed you could feel the interest and the emotions in Bo-Katan's mind. She may think the Children of the Watch are a sect but it's apparent this sheer faith is rekindling something in her heart. I really like this character. She's honorable. And I think, hope rather, something audacious and constructive will come out of this association.
Agree about IG11." I absolutely need the most deadly assassin droid to help me. Will a knackered astromech do? Sure!"
I never expected Din to get to Mandalor in episode 2. Based on the premiere it looked like it was going to be like six side quests before he ventured to Mandalor. I am very happy with this second episode and I have long suspected that Din would play a role at uniting and revitalizing the Mandalorian people, and that seems inevitable now. I am most curious about how they will even approach the mythosaur, much less tame and ride it.
I couldn’t believe they brought back the Mythosaur! My eyes got big and my jaw dropped as I suddenly realized how big the world of the Mandalorian is going to be.
It would be really cool if they brought the Mask of Mandalore into cannon. It would be the last item Din would need to fully complete his claim to the throne. I know his armor is very iconic at this point but to see the mask brought into cannon and more importantly into live action would be so cool. It would be great to hear the characters talk about the Mandalorian wars and Mandalorian crusaders since armor has been shown in the clone wars and Solo. Also artwork in the background of the Maul vs Sidious fight.
I’m excited but also disappointed that they completely left Boba out of this storyline. Would’ve been incredible if all 3 of them went to Mandalore to rediscover themselves. Boba learning about Jango’s and Jaster’s legacies and meeting Mandalorians that followed them would’ve been great to see. They really did Boba dirty these past couple of years. They need to make it up to Tem.

Which was a huge mistake Favreau made. Both Jango and Jaster have incredible Mandalorian legacies, and Boba discovering more about that would’ve been amazing to see. They didn’t do Boba justice in his own show, and Boba at the end of the finale hinted that ruling Tatooine wasn’t really meant for him, which really made his storyline pointless. Favreau gave Boba’s legends legacy away to Din Djarin, but can’t write a proper story for Boba, which should be really easy. Disney loves to wreck Lucas’s OG characters, so it doesn’t surprise me though.

Honestly, I think they should just let Boba's character die. Between his portrayal as an entitled crown-prince of crime in the clone wars show to the empty shelled protagonist archetype we got in the BoBF, it feels like much of his character is unsalvageable. Just let Din take the wheel, I don't want to see them beat a dead horse.
Great episode
The weird creature in the mines reminded me a lot about the story of The war of the worlds: Weird creatures in machines coming out of the ground to catch humans and drain them of their blood
I have the mythasaur skull tattooed on my back long before the Mandalorian came out. This makes me happy. 😂
Reminds me of Greek Mythology in some ways. Din Djarin has been made a pariah seeking redemption who stumbles into the symbols of power. It wouldn't surprise me now that some one either insist he go find or remake The Lost Mask of The Mandalore, despite it being hidden or destroyed by a Sith/Jedi millennia ago.

as a huge Legends fan, I'd be so conflicted (happy and somewhat salty) seeing my nigga Din repair or forge a new "Mandalore's Mask" in Canon. On one end, I wanna see him dripped tf out with an OG mask + cape + war axe combo and lead a new faction of Mandalorians inspired by historical artifacts dating back to before the Great Sith War. But on the other end, I kinda wanna just see him get his honor back, chill with his people again, and become a cool war chief or something. Either way, I still wanna see him and Bo Katan become close friends and Din become a living legend (pun intended) 👍
I felt a bit of my childhood come up in my impression this ep. The mythosaur literally being a myth until now is soooo cool. Always hearing mandalore the great having tamed one.

I feel like with the imperial scientist guy returning they will either try and clone the mythosaur and spread em around the galaxy or something. Either that or he's just a cameo or a way to break moff Gideon out idk
I do have to say tho, I wish the first episode ended with the Tatooine scene from ep 2. The fireworks and “May the force be with you” would have been like a celebration in and of itself for the return of the Mandolorian! And to be honest the first episode droid sequence went a little long

That weird crab eye Droid thing was a particular highlight for me. It looks like a combination of the Promethean dog things from Halo 4 and 5 combined with some abomination from the movie 9. It's pretty damn cool, I love it when star wars makes weird ass things like that and doesn't explain them, like the massive Droid earlier in the Bad batch.
I feel like Din is like a through line that connects great people and events. He's the gunslinging everyman. Hes helping Grogu on his way to becoming something great no doubt. Thats what happened to Din, I think I laughed XD It probably was toxic for awhile, and we see that the altered magnetic field of the planet plays havoc on instruments, so maybe since the planet was glassed, you couldn't get any reading from space, that everyone just overlooked it because they knew there was probably nothing left down there. Obviously we saw something smart down there, which means that the planet prolly does get some visitors, but would you advertise to the galaxy that a planet that still might be full of stuff isn't dead after all? XD

@@griz312 Plasma by itself is pretty safe thing actually, it is just very, very hot. Stuff it destroys might create toxic fumes, though.
I've been running with the theory that Grogu is "The Mandolorian". The trouble Din has with the darksaber is one clue. Now the Mythosaur will undoubtedly be tamed, and the Force has been shown to be a valuable tool in such things. Will become the next Mandalore.

Solid theory
I'm glad that they dropped the IG88 thing so fast.
Din is also no longer an apostate so he can rejoin the armorer if he wants
One thing I think will happen is that Navarro will be attacked at some point by the pirates and Mando will bring in the reinforcements.
I really like your take on it and yet again you made great points. So glad they did the mines in one episode I was concerned it would be a multi episode event. Very unrealistic. Also to see the mando and children of watch will be interesting. You saw how she wad so skilled with the dark saver and he was unable to wield it yet he was the first mandolorian to see that creature in decades or hundreds of years. (Don't know timeline) it's an exciting time to be a nerd
That eye-bot looks really similar to the robot from Netflix’s Lost in Space.
Really glad they showed it in mando really cool
“The revelation of Mandalore’s air/heir not being toxic …”
Mech spider eye creature kind of reminded me of a dalek at first. Super curious as to what it actually is. Maybe a survivor of the purge who's gone mad trying to stay alive, who knows. Great episode
Makes me wonder that since we saw a Mythosaur. That they will mention the Taung at some point to canonize them a bit more. Even if it's a little throwaway line. Like Luthen mentioning Rakaktan
The Cyborg reminded me of AMEE in Red Planet with Val Kilmer... moved and acted almost identically. Really cool character addition... It lead me to wonder if it were a remnant Mandalorian from The Night of 1000 Tears that somehow survived and placed themselves into this abomination to survive the "holocaust" that was unleashed on Mandalore.
Nobody seems to recognize that the weird creature that captured Din was exactly like the Netflix lost in space robot. The evil red ones. With the multiple arms and legs
This was a FANTASTIC episode. I hope the Mythosaur comes to the surface of the water, enabling Grogu to commune with it. I also hope that Bo Katan becomes "born again" from this experience, and also takes the Creed and rejoins The Watch, partnering with Din to groom Grogu to become the next great Mandalore.

I don't see her joining the watch but some boundaries are certainly going down

@@cedriceric9730 I think coming face to face with the Mythosaur really knocked the snot out of her. She's going to have to question everything she doubted.
I really hope we get to see Din riding the mythosaur while holding the dark saber.
As you said, it’s good we got to the mines quick. Though it’s also kinda wild. It felt like we were building a whole thing like “we have to rebuild IG before we can go to Mandalore, the whole season is now gonna be a long convoluted fetch quest and the finale will be landing on Mandalore.” Instead we got “hi Pelli, I need to fix IG. Nah, you don’t. Ok, im off to Mandalore then!” It was kinda wild and it felt almost like in a video game when you accidentally already cleared the dungeon a quest giver was going to send you to. The pacing of their story telling is like “you must go into THE GREAT DARKNESS and fight THE BEAST!” And then it’s just like, “oh, you already did? Ok then, I guess you can join the guild” Was just a really weird and jerky experience but it’s cool to be at where we’re at now!
I really enjoyed this side of Bo. Bad ass.
I was hoping that big crab droid thing was a basilisk war droid
About the fight with the monster in ep1... that was just a display of force so the Armorer's followers can now follow Din Djarin... a re-christened Mandalorian that actually went to Mandalore and holds the Darksaber won in combat.
Would definitely be a plot twist to find a small herd of mythosaurs
I really don't feel like Din as a character would want to be a ruler of any kind. Even if forced into it, I just don't think that character in that role would make any sense.
