Great job Kevin! im writing an article/blog as we speak about the benefits of podcasting as a way to provide content and serve a (nichier) audience... All while helping the podcaster earn new leads. Outstanding job!

And congrats on starting your own podcast. The first step is really the hardest. Just be sure you get "nichy" enough :-)

Hi Kevin, I'm curious on your thoughts of podcasting vs. videos, if one had to choose?

Personally, I would focus on podcasting for two reasons: 1. KZread and other video leads are very noisy. We do have some videos, but the odds of getting found are lower here. We're about 90/10 in our podcasting/video ratio. 2. Podcasting is actually MORE personal. For example, if I tell you on a podcast about how blue the ocean is, or how big the clouds are, you can insert your own interpretation of that image I drew. As in, your favorite version of blue is a bit lighter than mine so it personalizes the story for you. In video, you see the color so it becomes a little less personal because we're going (by default) with my color blue. Take that same idea and apply it to your business or your podcast, or the TONE you use to describe your content on the podcast. The fact that it is auditory only allows you to make you the listener part of it. That's why I like podcasting more than video. I hope that helped. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Thanks so much for the insightful feedback. Lots to think about. I've done podcasting and have considered switching to video, but it seems that video can also be more time consuming to make, and possibly to, listen to/watch, whereas, podcast seems easier for people to listen to on the go, or while doing other things (cooking dinner, putting make-up on, etc.). Then again, I listen to both podcasts and videos while doing those things. Anyway, I appreciate your insights.

You're welcome. While videos do have their upside, if our audience is only seeking our content, and that content can be delivered efficiently for us and them by podcast, then the video may just overkill. That's just my take because I don't need visuals to share our content. If I did, I may feel differently.

Being an early adopter was hard...it took a year for people to even notice our podcast...but now we have a huge headstart...it was worth it in the end. I'm just glad I was right about podcasts...I've been wrong about the next new idea a bunch of times 🙂
