@@nanoblast5748 not yet but he has the potential to be if he perseveres. But it's also not exactly true, while sotl focuses more on basic game data, drongo focuses more on their effect on the current build orders.

Fantastic breakdown again. I really appreciate how you genuinely spend a lot of time testing the new politicians to discover their merits. As someone who has never played AOE III online (only ever extremely casually) you make it easy to understand and you're tempting me to get into it (if only I had a single friend who played lol). Love the content, keep it up!

Tried something similar.. Built TP first, all to food till 10vill can be queued, chop for house then build house and move all to food. No TC idle time. Instead of wood, got 300 food first. This nullified the wood chopping time and got me an age up at 14 pop. Rest was situational with food/gold shipments. I found that 100 wood with the food/gold shipments twice along with wood treasures was enough for stable and mkt and I macroed for the mkt upgrades. One of the best games was when I had advanced tp as second shipment, delayed my stable/mkt a bit and got 2more tps up by age3. After this it was a steamroll. Very situational build though as team games can snowball in rushes.

Yeah this did look the most promising of the new age ups as far as I was concerned on first impression. It’s possible that going Spanish gold and bluffing a standard ff but then focusing more economically might work too. There’s a lot of flexibility to be had with age 1 shipments.

Great video! I really like how the logistician increases the flexibility of all civs. It breaks the meta cast where we were all stuck (except for Aizamk) and brings new options, interesting strategies and flexibility on the board. This politician alone is already a great bonus of DE over TAD.

My question is, what is considered firsdt aid shipments? I have being trying to implement this politic in my strategies because I always play Spain but the problem is that my decks are center in upgrades instead of resources and trops shipments so when I enter age IV and V I can have an stronge economy with only 46 villagers so that I can have a big and buffed army to compensate that Spain is weaker in late game. This strategy works very well once you enter the age 3 but before it let you open to rushes so I was thinking of a contermesure that could help me maintain the strategy while making me able to fight back rush and if I do the right adjustments to my deck it might work well

'Generally' can I fast build to the "infinite" rice paddy/tree field with most races? then wall them in and crush with a semi rushed army?

I play a lot of Spanish, and I was trying to figure out the ideal build order. I was almost there, even in the notion of timing the shipment to hit as I aged up (although I was far from nailing the exact moment yet). However I still insisted on sending settlers as the first Logistician card. Now I know better! Thanks! Spanish seem like they will no longer be the pushovers of the game... at least for a while.

Yeah there were so many curious cards to send, settlers really are tempting and then doing a huge boom with settlers + resource shipments, which I am sure will probably become a competitive team game strategy

It’s hilarious to combine this with Spanish Gold in Age3, and get 200 food, 100 wood, 100coin, + 400 coin (Spanish Gold), + 300 of any resource you chose. Therefore receiving 1100 flexible resources to spend (compared to the normal 1k res). This video leveled up my Spanish gameplay to the roof. Thanks Aussie! Spain gold now gives 330 gold but I don't know why aoe 3 de always favours spain especially spain can have 2 battleship and they nerfed british badly

I've found a lot of success with a native warrior variant of this. It is a bit situational with the map and civ matchup but when it works, it really works. Build order is overpopping to 12 vils in age 1, and using the starting 200 wood to build a native site trading post. Sending (usually) 300 wood timed for the age up and build a house while aging. Immediately start queuing native units when you hit age 2, and hitting your opponent 5ish minutes in with your explorer, 5 war dogs, and 10-15 native warriors. Generally trying to idle their vills while you continue producing them. This saves even more time since you don't have to wait to build a barracks or stable after you've aged up, and the wood cost of natives is offset by the lack of need for houses for native units. You can then continue sending resource crates, or send the age 1 economic or explorer combat cards to help. After 4-5 shipments, use the spare gold to send the 11 Mayan spearmen. You can also produce a few supporting musketeers/rodeleros once you've maxed out on natives and put the barracks up. Works particularly well one maps with a ranged infantry native like navajo or cree since war dogs can be used to entangle with melee units or cavalry. Or just works any time you can use the Sufi elephants.

Aztecs are my favourite native civilisation, and I will be covering them in an up coming video. They are still very relevant, but Inca does outdo them currently.

What unit is better do as spain in 4 age? I mean in a team game?

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL i was going the other way around. when i started the video and heared you describe the politician i thought "cool, infinite 700 recouse crates". then you showed the sheep card and i was like, "ok, this is better. 800 food in sheep + the building which is an additional 200 wood + 400 recouses in crates". but here is a thought, wouldnt it be best to send the 2 vills a couple of times (2 vills + 400 recouses seem op, cause they strengthen your eco AND allow you to feed your aggro strategy with the recouses) and after a while ship economic theory cause those 10% are basically 3 villagers by the time you got 30 vills and another 400 recouses. usually civs have to pick between recouses for their push or vills for their eco. this way spain could do both o.O

@@AussieDrongo not every map got tp´s though, which is why ottomen struggled in random ranked matches and got the exp trickle in their church.

I get that 1v1 seems to be the main focus of competitive play just like all rts but I’d really like to see some videos about team games. Great content lately. Just a suggestion.

Question from a relative noob regarding Sweden. With the way the Torps work, could there be any merit to sending the 7 sheep + homestead instead of 3 villagers, or even going for a focus on livestock (though I know they don't have most of the cards Britain uses for their livestock boom) ? Send the shipment > build the livestock pen near your first torps > fatten 6 of the sheep while the first one is harvested by vills and torps. Not super dissapointed if this doesn't work, but I gotta be honest: I get really tired of seeing 3 vills as the de facto first shipment. I need some variety! xD

Try blueberries, it's the only age 1 card I have in my Swedish deck. I like your thinking outside the box, but I normally prefer to focus on coin rather than food, as blueberries gives me more than enough food.

This means u can also skip 3 vils and time it as the first shipment with age up, on average u will lose around 250 food but gain 100 w and 100 coin and u can follow it by 300wood shipment which already comes faster? Also how will it affect archaic rush? i always wanted a sotl for age3 and now we have it xd

I think the problem with that is that by the time you reach the second age you already have a shipment waiting for you, you send it, it arrives, and then theres another ones there for you again lol. So it would take a while to pay off, I'm not sure if it would be worth it.

Now I know what to make of that Logistician I always loved playing Spain because of their FF strats, but they were always a good civ for colonial aggression, when it came to team games. Now it seems that this guys packs their early punch into 1v1's as well, I'll have to try it.

A video that would help a lot, as someone who is learning this game right now, would be on card selection. Like, why do I take X over Y, if there are any broad strokes rules.

I just have 1080 TI, but I have optimised my graphical settings.

For this kind of strategy, you don't really need a lots of resource cards in you 2nd age do you? like 600 W and 600 G for sure not... not even 700xy I guess... What kind of deck would you recommand to build especially for this build?

I know it's early and will be balanced, but an idea to put it on tables properly would be to make it affect first economic shipment and single use for each card, so if you get imperial you can't overuse it, and age I cards (unlimited) well... It seems nice, are low range resources for late game

im watching the musks in the beginning dancing around the trading post like "ahhhh is it gonna happen?"

So, looking from the outside (as someone who hasn't played AoE 3 in years), with most cases of the Logistician, you sacrifice another politician, f.Ex. giving 500 food, to get it, and some sort of usually offensive bonus. But in this, spanish, case, you're paying your 100 food, and you essentially immediately, get those and 200 more resources back, which means after just 1 more shipment, you're already even. Now, I know there's a significant value in the details of timing, but isn't the trade-off a bit minor, in this case?

Somehow it doesn't makes sanse to age up with Logistician, but I hope somone will prove me wrong. You basically give up on benefit that any other politician would give you, paying even 100 food more to do so. And in return you can continue sending shipments from age 1 for a net worth of an age 2 shipment - so no benefit at all.

Will you cover the ottomans One day ??

Which is funny actually. It really made spain age 2 quite viable. But i found it also very usefull with archaic training card. You need just one barrack and all that wood can be used on xbow production.

very interesting, on the official forum people are complaining that Spain is still the worst CIV, but you said that Spain would need a nerf.

@@AussieDrongo It still works, however it always copies to the civ the ai or player was who revolted. I achieved it by playing against 7 dutch ai and turn on speed always wins. This way I got (after some went indonesia etc) South Africa and copied the deck. It takes around 8-12 min. It also turns out which I first thought didnt work, you can actually have 5 factories and working.

I played a team game as spain where I FF'd using the Logistician (sent two 300 gold shipments to get there) and then sent spanish gold. All of a sudden, all of my infinite shipments are giving me 1100 resources each and I'm spamming the crap out of Lancers and carrying the game. It probably won't work in higher level play, but the power trip was simply amazing.

I wish I played the game so I could actually follow any of this.

Please do not say that they nerf Spain more, the logistician already nerfed it in the beta, before it was 10 seconds. If they nerf it more , completely loses the sense of this politician and we will return to the same boring Spain as always, even with this politician Spain is one of the worst civs in the game, since with the logistician you are easy to rush for as long as it takes in up age and that you do not have shipments of range army to do "all in" strategy , other player if u know stay to fight in second age can do all in and destroy u easily because u are solwer than him , it's easy whit india , otto, or any rush civ. Spain don't need more nerfs , need a bit buff again because still weak in many ways.

Do u think spain is op? Compared with other nations such as otomans, brits, portugues... thats the only way spain can have something interesting to bring to the game.
