Why the Godox Flashpoint AD200 is still the best flash in 2023
The Godox AD200 has been a key piece of equipment to me and our team for years. In 2023 with so many other options, we truly believe it's still very much worth it. Here are some key points about why we love this flash:
Rubber case Mentioned:
www.adorama.co...
LED Light Mentioned:
www.amazon.com...
Compact and Powerful: The AD200 is a compact and portable flash unit with a built-in lithium battery, making it ideal for on-location shoots. Despite its small size, it packs a powerful punch with a guide number of around 60-70, providing ample lighting even in challenging conditions.
Versatility: One of the standout features of the AD200 is its dual-head design, which allows you to switch between a traditional speedlight-style head and a bare bulb head. This versatility enables you to achieve a broader range of lighting effects and modify the light to suit various shooting scenarios. We also have the LED light which we use and can be found here:
www.amazon.com...
Wireless Capabilities: The AD200 is equipped with a built-in 2.4GHz wireless receiver, allowing for seamless integration with Godox's X system. This feature enables remote power control, TTL, and high-speed sync (HSS) capabilities, making it easy to control multiple flashes from a single transmitter.
Expandability: Godox is known for its extensive ecosystem of lighting equipment and accessories. The AD200 can be used with a wide array of modifiers, including softboxes, umbrellas, and gels, allowing for further customization of your lighting setup. We use ours a lot with the ‪@MagnetMod‬ modifiers
Affordable Price: Despite its advanced features, the AD200 was relatively affordable compared to other high-end flash units on the market, making it an attractive choice for both amateur and professional photographers.

We have 5, the same 5 we’ve been using for 3 years. Not one fail. Battery life is phenomenal and so easy to pop in a spare! We have all the accessories because they really extend the creativity options. We can’t imagine any piece of photo gear as cost effective as our AD200’s.

I had a HS Shoot yesterday, I use a 43in bounce as so light and easy to walk in the woods with. I was F1.4 1/640 HSS and only need 1/16 juice. Pics looked great. I have shot one AD200 in a 65In at 1/2 power, really balanced the light and looked amazing on that shoot.

I've been eyeing the AD200s for a while now! When photography was just a hobby for me I went with budget dups, the Neewer Q3 200s. They have done their job for me so far, but once they stop working I'm upgrading to the Godox line. This size work great too as I can fit both my Q3 200 in my backpack with other lens no problem, I couldn't do this with AD300/400s.

Yeah man it really is a great size-power ratio. The 300/400/600 just becomes more of a chore in my opinion to be able to carry around. Plus all these 200's work with Godox on-camera flashes so we use it in the reception sometimes as a room light. Thank you for watching Edgar!

Best explanation of use and power of ad200pro! If in wide angle shots use bare and don't mess with quality of shadows or just add second to fill shadow with 1-2 stop less power. If close up just put softbox on the frame edge! Will buy another 2 ad200pro in addition to my one) also outdoor if no wind we can use translucent umbrella. Cheap and light and compact setup.

Absolutely! We have a shooter who swears by the ad100 but to me, for the same price, getting twice the power with a slightly bigger size (trade-off), is still a better option. For small flashes I just use my speedlights as off camera options. When I broke one of my AD200s I was using it for a few shoots for back lights since they don't really require as much power. Thank you for watching Chris!

Nice one. I have 2 AD 200 pro's, and I'll check out the LED head. I also bought the AD-B2, in which you can combine 2 AD 200's and end up with a 400Ws light. Awesome. I love Godox / Flashpoint equipment. They are not too expensive but you get quality for your money... and all their systems are compatible. I've also 2 V860iii's... which are awesome speedlights. And all is controllable with the XT-2 controller (of which I also have 2). Alas, these 2 controllers do not communicate with each other, so altering settings on 1 forces you to make the same alterations on #2 manually. But hey, I can live with that.

The AD200 strobes are fantastic! When using multiple units, at one time Adorama sold a 6-bay charger that charges up to 6 batteries simultaneously AND allows you to individually stop charging any/all of them at 80%. That coupled with the MagMod accessories' abilities makes the AD200 an extremely functional powerhouse of strobes.

Thank you for that comment! I had no idea they sell that multiple-bay charger! Very good to have! I've broken about 5 of these already so I have a bunch of chargers lol! But that ability to stop it from charging above 80% is extremely helpful for the longevity of the batteries. I have that for the AA/AAA batteries. Thank you so much for watching and leaving a great bit of info!

@@TNKPhoto The ad300 is still in its testing phase. I have taken it out a few times but for right now, I have only been testing it with the OEM reflector. From the research I have done, is it looses a ton of power with that reflector, but you keep the size. The idea setup would have the 7" reflector. It's a little bigger but you get the full power of the light. I'll do some more tests in the next few days and try and bring some more insight. But for the size, it's not much bigger than the ad200!

Great question Sergio! I was gonna say instead of getting one AD600 I would just get 2 AD200s for the same price in case you need more power outside, and that way you always have a secondary flash if you wanna add a back flash. However, now I'm coming with a question lol. Where are you finding a 600 for 70 more than the 200? Cause I may jump on that too lol I would honestly say if you always use a softbox, go with the 600, because the 200 won't be enough generally speaking. Outdoors in less than ideal situations (right before sunset), the 200 will probably struggle
