Only rich woodworker can afford this highly designed by German Mechanical Engineer. The only thing I can do is appreciated what this tool can do.

Surely setting it to 90 degrees is easy and fast - 2 bench dogs in the table, bring the rail up to them, lock in place and done ? Or am I missing something ?

I bought one to make the Paulk Smart Bench. Realised that you need a good bench to make a good bench. It also means I don't have to drill the top of my Paulk bench, as I have the Festool dog holes already! Oh and I use a piece of MDF slightly larger than the bench for my cuts - to keep the top in good shape.

The rails are installed the wrong way round. The stop must be placed on the opposite side and the guide rail must be rotated. A look at the description helps.

I notice you are missing out on the most important fundamental: the hole-dogs. I don't use the feather keys on the side. I removed those. I align fence and rail on the hole pattern using dogs. Tip: if you can stack 8.5 systainer units (T-lock generation) it gives you the same height as the table. Now you have a side table you can move around to support big pieces.

Just joined the Festool system. At 800 dollars, this is one of their most reasonably priced tools. The price is not bad at all for Festool stuff I am noticing. It is high, but good tools DO cost a lot. Look how much a good set of chisels cost. I have ridgid stuff and some bigger delta & grizzly stuff until now. Festool was the only power tool company I could find not made in china. I fell in love with Festool this month because it will make my table saw 95% obsolete. Maybe 100% (for me). Festool is more like classic woodworking - in no time in history until now did you move wood through a tool. Now, with Festool, I am going to be able to work faster, smarter, with less room for error, and like wood was worked historically: Stationary, with me moving the tool, instead of moving boards on a tool - priceless in my eyes. Not THAT expensive, either.

The rail is definitely moved on the wrong side vs the fence, you never extend the fence in the line of the saw blade.

Lookup Bench Dogs UK’s Quad Hinge System. It does the same and can be mounted to any table without the aluminum extrusion that’s on the MFT3 sides. Bench Dogs UK sells a routing template that can turn any table into an MFT.

don't buy the festool one. others like Benchdogs UK and Dashboard PWS sell better versions. The festool one is wiggly. Also the way he has it setup you can't use it. Rail should have been on the right hand side. Compass more in the middle.

Just a question: I’m looking at buying one of these and I’ve looked at quiet a few videos over the last few days, do you think you’ve set this up with the pivot on the wrong side? Yours is the first I’ve seen set up like this and the only one I’ve seen that puts the fence in danger every cut. If your happy with this setup then fantastic but there is another way.

yeah I always move the back fence over when cutting, some times if I have scrap wood i'll put it against the fence.then I would cut it the way I showed in the video but the best practice is to move the fence. I should have showed the other way as well. I better make another vid.Thanks for watching

Yes , it can be a bit wobbly for sure. I have 2 so it really helps out. They make stabilizers for them now. I think.

I just drilled holes in my workbench. Am I cool or what?

You definitely would the way I have it set up in this video. If you put a piece of wood against the fence as a stop. Then you would be ok. But the correct way to set it up is with the fence set back of the track cut line. I really need to make another video showing that.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve seen photos from Festool showing them cutting like that too. When your model and photographer have never touched tools before. 😂

One thing I have noticed is MFT is to small . I have a mft and a Kreg table. I can cut 4 by 8 sheets on my 2 kreg tables hooked together. You can't do that on my MFT just smaller sections

I hook two mft tables together, but I also have other tables I use for assembly

@@hammerandhome I have both the fold down work tables from Keter and DeWalt. I think for my activities/job those work the best...portable and literally instant set up. That Keter table is now being sold at Wal-Mart for $59.00 and is branded Hart. Same table though. I do work with wood doing maintenance and light building/construction so the accuracy your table provides isn't that critical for me but having a work platform that I can take anywhere that can handle my miter saw, assembling a sink or repairing a storm door.

The Dashboard PWS is objectively better than the Festool MFT. I wish I had know that before I bought the Festool table. I did buy the Dashboard guide brackets which is one of the best parts of the PWS and the worst parts of the Festool. There's not a lot of difference in the price, but the quality difference is definitely there.

I disagree. It can be good, but it will be different for different people. It also costs a lot more than the Festool tables. I like what Bent Woodworking did putting 3 MFTs together & combining it with some Dashboard and other third party stuff.

Like, hear me out - my shop is kind of small, “most of a” one car garage. Dashboard table seems more for a great, permanent workbench setup. I can get the MFT/3 out of my way and pull my machines out from the wall and work with those - if I had a bigger shop, I might go with a Dashboard full size table. Since I am working with the need to move stuff around between operation runs, it is best for me to go with the smaller MFT/3, so I ordered one & am excited to use it.

You have it set up wrong. The cut should be to your right so the fence is out of the way.

What plunge saw do you find better? The Dewalt one or the Festool one?

I love the Dewalt because its cordless, but I love the feel of the Festool more. Festool does make a cordless model too. the Milwaukee is very similar to the festool and half the price.

Great table however I’m not happy that it only comes with one leg leveler. It becomes completely useless when putting together 2 or more tables together.

Someone should tell this guy that he has it setup backwards

The amount of wobble in an mft is disconcerting. Even with 1 or 2 sets of the stabilization bars don’t seem to fix the problem.

I would agree with that. If you don’t need the flip down track. Or the T slots on the side. I would just make one then. But for cutting on with the track saw, I don’t find the wobble bugs me.

wow I have never seen a messier shop. cool. I could not work in there. cool table though. way to expensive, like anything festool

Yeah I know it’s not set up the way it was intended. I change it around some times.

Your table is setup completely backwards, your table needs to be set correctly and then you don’t need to use wood in front of your work. The aluminium should NOT be in the path of the blade. How did you get this setup sooo wrong? In the correct setup, configuration takes 2 mins to setup and set at 90??? Please set it up right

I'm not an expert but from what I can tell you have this set up incorrectly, awkwardly and have basically turned it into an expensive clamp :(

My partner has this table, I use it daily, it’s a good work station for cross cutting smaller sheet material, BUT,not remotely worth $700.00 plus, sorry

It's a good idea but under engineered and over priced. It's also really easy to make your own for a fraction of the cost. I have seen some shop made ones on youtube that are much cheaper and much better engineered.

Hight adjustable, compact transport while sturdy? Rails around to quickly connect tools without bending?I think thats difficult to match as a diy
