“I pay them for the design and the thought that went into it”, brilliant!! I have two MFTs (conturo is in one), and I love it. What I love about the festool system is how integrated the designs are. I use the kapex trimming attachments as cross cut extensions (with accurate flag stops) on my MFT. Such a great piece of kit.

Single parent, just landed an amazing woman, and I’m in my last year at uni, so once I’m done with school I’m going full on back into videos. I also started at podcast with Jason Bent (bents woodworking) and Brian Sedgeley (festoolsedge, Sedge tool) - which I edit and make content for. Needless to say, I’m quite busy 😆. I have a book full of video topics ready to go though! Enjoying your vids as well, appreciate the perspective! Cheers!

Precision. This table is precise!! As mentioned below, down to .1mm hole to hole. 90 degrees, perfect, all the time, every time. Buy another top, total precision, never miss a beat. And there is no faster way to do crosscuts with a tracksaw. Set the cut up, pull down the track, make the cut, pull up the track on the hinge, nothing easier or faster. Just watch Peter Millard, who made a custom cabinetry business in London with nothing more than an old MFT and a few Festool hand power tools!! No large table saws, totally safe, and he built virtually everything he sold with this setup. Try that with any other system at any cost. I built my own table using the UJK system but it is not nearly as good as the MFT even though it is just as precise. Thanks for this video and stay safe in the UK!!

A woodworker says things like 'perfect' , 'exactly square', 'spot on' etc. An engineer says 'within tolerance'. - you missed out two steps in your description- - pick up the saw and locate it on the rail - lift the saw off the rail and find somewhere to put it. so today i bought the Festool MFT 3, also because of your video. an i have to say, it seems like Festool has made some improvements to the table as it is slightly better to set up und not as wobbly as some people show in their videos on KZread. In fact, it is very stable for a still portable table. Overall: i love it and would definitely recommend it

Basically we are paying for their failure by buying the stabilizers, festool is like Apple you have to trade a kidney for a tool

I have the 1080 that I like better. I did have the mft 3 table and sold it. I also have the Kreg set up which is very stable and you can move it anywhere it will fit through a door way. Only negative is the stand is hard to fold up.

Great point!

Fine if you need portability - which I understand you do. But why would you want this in your shop? Wobbly, space underneath is compromised/difficult to clean. Needs to stand off the wall and have space above because the rail hinges. Needs adjusting to square if any part is moved. Needs to be bigger for larger cuts (you cannot get a 600mm cupboard side between short side dogs). MDF is far from an ideal material to use (its performance in moisture is bad, very bad) Baltic pine is much better. Trust Festool to charge more for a kit to fix a flaw like the wobble.

I like the table, it makes me money overall so the cost is not as big of a deal. Yes I agree quality costs money, it’s satisfying to use but the portability is really mediocre

You are completely right, this is a tool to make you money and I’m glad you pointed that out, easy to forget that, and when I’m out doing jobs I never take it! It’s way to heavy to move around for me.

If you’re from across the pond I’m sorry this might not be for you (taxes and import fees are wicked) but if you’re from the US look into dashboard portable workshop. It does laps around the Festool MFT3 system. Festool better pay attention.

You’re the second comment that asked me! That’s a very good question. And to honest I don’t have an answer, hearing from you and the other comments asking why, I will 👍🏽 it’s about time. Our new season on The Flow stars filming in the next month so as long as Azu is well enough I will start taking about this channel.

I use an MFT. It's a very flexible base to work from. It's a big and accurate square. It's my clamping vise. It' my 0.1 mm setup table. I wish it was less wobbly. The press joints of the hip piece on top of the legs can work itself loose, increasing the wobblyness. I could fold in the legs and use it in its "very sturdy state", but I don't have the room for a stationary base. This is the one festool I own of which I think the price is too high. Mind that expenses only START with this table, since you need accessories to reach the full potential. You can easily add another 500 pound of useful accessories (a collection of quick clamps and dogs for example). I find it very ironic that festool offers this table with a crappy squaring method in their promotion campaign (e.g. squaring up the rail with a large and seperate square). I guess the MFT took a life of its own after they released it. I removed the stops in the side fence and aligh rail and fence using dogs. I distrust the heightsetting devices a bit and recalibrate after each heigth change. That might be a bit paranoid of me. Tip: The MFT is the same height as 8.5 units of systainers. You can move your tower of systainers around to be able to accomodate large panels with safety and ease. Another tip: You can hinge a longer rail in the longer direction of the table, for those time you need more cutting capacity.

One thing to consider with price: Festool make their stuff in the EU (mostly but not exclusively Germany), meaning that the people making it are employed under EU employment law. So, treated properly, with sensible working hours, paid leave, and safe factories. All of that costs, and some of that cost has to be picked up by the consumer. But what the consumer also picks up is not just a great product, but the peace of mind that it wasn’t made by some poor sod slaving away in an unsafe factory for 80 hours a week. Then there’s the EU environmental legislation to add into that: again it costs, but again there’s additional peace of mind. Oh, and then there’s the after-sales service, customer support, and so on. (Don’t work for or have shares in Festool btw!).

Yeah the 3 cons, it's gd expensive, it's gd expensive, and it's gd expensive. Well 4, bc the stabilizers should come with it right? That said I have to learn to cut a straight line before I get the table and saw, I guess, so she says.

I have the MFT, full set up, it’s great for routing and cutting smaller sheet material, BUT, I could live without it, and no way can I reconcile what I paid, Festool is not worth the price of their tools ( in my opinion).

@@workshopdojo I understand that, but the Germans have an arrogance about their products that transcends the power tool industry, I'd buy a Makita tool and a Lexus car, before i"d buy a Festool, or a BMW, the japanese products are cheaper and last longer
