    I love the power locks, I have a small metalworking vice screwed to a piece of plywood with 20mm holes, so I can drop it anywhere on the bench and secure it with power locks.

    Definitely getting that TSO refined 13 stop! I got the MTR-X from them & that is next. I had to send back my Whiteside undersized bits, they were a bit rusty and when I called Whiteside they said even though I picked the seller, Amazon just picks from a pile of all sellers so send them back & buy direct from a seller instead! So I have to get them again, more-direct.

    I had a buddy that did that with a 5 in 1 scraper and I was cleaning out the can to use for cut in and didnt realize he did that. I ended up nearly cutting off the tip of my finger. Blood everywhere, customer was cool about it but concerned.

    I do 50/50 mix of wipe on poly and mineral spirits. It dries so fast that you can do an application every hour. I apply the first 3 coats and sand up through the grits to 220. Then I apply 4-8 more coats. I let that cure for 24 hours. I then apply a coat of paste wax and buff off. I use the UJK bit to clear everything out afterwards. It tends to last 2 years and I've seen zero droop in the top because that finish is so hard that it keeps it from flexing. Reapplication is easy. I sand it back to 100 grit and start over when it finally wears out.

    Sedge, I was thinking (Run for the hills🤣) about gluing Formica to my MFT's top. I have some leftover from a desk I made for a friend's daughters during the pandemic as an "Ikea" clone as none where available and she was dead set on a specific design/look. I use a small piece of it on my MFT from time to time to protect it as I work, and then I thought it might be better if it was just permanently laminated/glued to the top. I realize it would be a bit of work re-drilling all the holes, and I would be using UJK's tools like you demonstrated, as I have already bought into their system. I was also wondering how the chamfer tool would work on formica, I would have to do a test on some scrap first to make sure. What are your thoughts Sedge? All the Best, Chuck.

    Chuck...I personally would not go through all that effort...I cut into my MFT/3 occasionally as I cross cut...

    @@sedgetool Yeah, it would be hard to clamp down to being it is rather slick too. But it would look nice and clean, until I cut it all up. 🤪 I'll try your seal coat method, thanks. All the Best, Chuck.

    Sedge- "Somebody" did the #1 NO NO and didn't check the depth on the TS55 cordless track saw and went through the MDF-only about a few inches then realized my mistake. Can I put painters tape underneath and fill the hole with epoxy halfway? Is there any trick/video to just flipping the table and starting fresh from the other side? If I only walked on water :-) Really enjoy your tips- They DO help. From Inferno Texas

    I know several folks that did exactly that and poured epoxy in the cut to fill the void ... make sure you use a tape that sticks really well....

    Do you think it would be beneficial to seal both sides? I’m thinking maybe it would be less prone to cupping?

  • @sedgetool

    @sedgetool

    11 ай бұрын

    it could be..I never have and have never had a cupping issue due to not sealing the bottom...... when I flip it over to a fresh top I seal it then...
