Why the FBI Spies On Celebrities

Ойын-сауық

Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act, we know of the wide variety of subjects the FBI keeps files on. Along with the obvious serial killers, terrorists, and embezzlers, the FBI investigates actors, musicians, athletes, comedians, cartoonists, and even a fast food “colonel.” The reasons for said federal surveillance range from the subject receiving death threats to having communist sympathies to possessing giant collections of adult material.

Longtime FBI director J. Edgar Hoover (who ordered the investigations of some the celebs portrayed here) understood as early as the 1920s the power that the film industry could assert over the masses and that understanding sparked an odd love-hate relationship between the Bureau and the movie industry. On one hand, Hoover was personally awed over the allure of film celebrities and sought to court select individuals in order to encourage them to cooperate with the FBI and help promote the Bureau's agenda. On the other hand, he distrusted the film industry overall because of it's potential influential power and was especially harsh on those stars he personally viewed as 'subversives' (or at least met his personal definition of subversive). One of the stars Hoover was fond of was, in fact, Shirley Temple. The two shared a friendship that dated back to Temple's childhood when she was America's 'golden child'. When Temple reached her adult years, Hoover investigated her potential love interests to make certain they weren't trying to exploit her. The FBI's investigation of Temple prior to her ambassadorship was standard procedure. Great video as always, though.

he's been demonized because he was a true patriot who was determined to protect the country...all those scandalous rumors taken as fact today have zero basis in reality, there is no evidence of crs-drssing or gyness, his friendship with clyde tolson, as far as all known facts go, was just a normal friendship. It's interesting that the left uses the things they supposedly celebrate as a way to destroy someone's reputation.

Well, as you ask for subjects for new videos, here goes one: the true history of how the idea for the Original Kung Fu TV series *was not* stolen from Bruce Lee. Yup, there were different degrees of racism involved in the events, but the chronology of how Spielman-Friedlander wrote the first script for a film feature and it ended up as a TV series starring David Carradine because he was a better actor for that role is well documented in Matthew Polly's "Bruce Lee: A Life," and even in Wikipedia. It's a quite interesting story.

Interestingly enough, it is perfectly legal to request and ultimately receive, a report on whatever information the FBI may have on you through the FOI act of 1966. An older friend of mine did just that in the early 2000s. He was surprised to learn he was suspected in a courthouse firebombing in a small town on the Oregon coast. He was a patched biker (still is, even though he's 76 years old now) and ran with a pretty rough crowd for decades, so it wouldn't surprise me if it's true.

@@SquirrelMonkeyCom I've got 1971-2001. Should have made it clear in the video that they were referring to a bunch of communist terrorists who operated under several names 'Nihon Sekigun' being just one.

4:45 According to a flight attendant who posted on the internet, Lucille Ball was on one of her flights and was exceptionally graceful. She said that Lucille Ball went way out of her way (even for the average person) to make sure she was given recognition for how great of a job she was doing.

Funnily enough, I saw a video on Mother Jones' channel today (either posted today or yesterday), about The Beatles and their anti-segregation demand (not a request!). The video is about the song Blackbird which in turn was about the struggle against segregation. There's another funny (coincidental, not amusing, in either case; segregation is never amusing) thing about that video. I'd just seen another one by Jesse Dollemore (a v interesting political channel) who had discovered a young man who creates occasional, but absolutely fascinating videos of his own, about black history and related subjects. He was so impressed by him that he said to us to go and check him out and sub to him. I did and I did! Guess who it was who did the Mother Jones video! I'm sorry I can't remember his name in full - I only found him in the early hours - and I won't insult him by getting it wrong, but you should be able to track him down from the above info. At least watch the short video on Blackbird because it's very sweet and heartwarming, despite the painful subject matter.

He will attack any agent who is slack in his mack so I think it's best if we come fully packed with a fat rugged stack." FBI Chief: "So shame on us if we stepped through to the Ol' Dirty Bastard straight from the Brooklyn Zoo?" FBI Agent: "Yes, sir. He'll be damned if he let any man come to his center. They enter the winter." FBI Chief: "So straight up and down that sh*t-packed jam, we can't slam. We can't let him get fool on us, man." FBI Agent: "Sir, the Ol' Dirty Bastard is dirty and stinking. Ason Unique's rolling with the night of the creeps. And they are rolling with a stash, not saying cash but those who bite his style, he bites their motherf*cking ass." FBI Chief: "What do you suggest we should do, agent?" FBI Agent: "Protect our necks, sir."

@@btetschner okay………. That is, again, not relevant to my question, or content this comment is under. *What is purpose of making SO many comments under each Weird History videos, and as soon as they are posted?* Are you just like obsessed with this channel and think they’re interested in every comment from you? Or is there some underlying (hidden or perceived) financial incentive going on? You do same for all followed channels or just Weird history? If so why? Some of comments with facts you make are so basic, it’s like forgetting the rest of us have internet too. Like, what if I kept posting on your Facebook page things likewhat I was going to eat for lunch that day and copy-pasting Wikipedia fact about what someone said once during production of your favorite show, or why the sky appears blue or grass green, or I feel hot, turning AC up, the AC was invented in ____? Posting literally every thought that comes into your head, broadcasting internal thought to whole world, and on someone else’s platform on less. You’d also be curious, and ask “whats your point here?”. Is it part of some spam scheme, or just a particular obsession you have? (Which is fine if so)
