    For the amount of content you put out, I assumed you were already full time LOL. Count me as +1 subscriber and I wish you the best of luck. Gaming history in Europe is more interesting than the 99% market share the poorly designed blinking light constantly glitching out NES that we were stuck with over hear. Great games, terrible hardware. I've been toying with the idea of starting a channel, but not about video games or technology. People like you have that covered much better than I ever could.

    10:25 These weren't J-Pop idols, but an even more select niche: Japanese voice actresses. I had a Playdia and the Aya Hisakawa (Sailor Mercury voice actress) "game". These so-called games were tasks such as "Push a button 100 times over the course of five minutes to progress through some screenshots. If you complete the task within five seconds before or after five minutes, you unlock an exclusive music video!" Within two hours you'd have extracted all of the content, dubbed them onto a VHS, and thankfully never had to play the actual CD again.

    You know, I already know about most of the consoles/topics you cover on this channel. However, what I really appreciate is just how deep of a dive you take in your videos. The first part sets up the system with the basic info most people already know. Then the second half covers the good stuff. The position in the market, relation to other systems, marketing, failures and successes and on and on. You really do a great job covering your chosen topic/console. One suggestion though, maybe a breakdown of the componentry and bespoke chips/tech if any, Just a thought. Keep up the good work though man, I'm really enjoying what you're making and plan on backing you on patreon as soon as I can. Cheers mate! 👍👌

    Great vid, I love obscure consoles! The Interon-4000 is the European made console I find most interesting. I LOVE the way it looks and it seems like it had a respectable library too. The Fairchild Channel F is interesting too, It is obscure but if it were just slightly less obscure then it would no longer be obscure LOL. It was the first cartridge based system but was much better in every way than the second cartridge based system. I think the Atari 2600 was the third cartridge based system. The Fairchild was advanced for it's time, but the 2600 with Solaris or Jungle Hunt in the cartridge port looks like a PS4 Pro by comparison.

    Why were there so many education-based consoles in the 90s? Very very few people wanted to spend hundreds of dollars on digital encyclopedias and every single one of these systems flopped hard. If people wanted information back then, libraries were still popular.

  • @zigmeisterful

    @zigmeisterful

    5 жыл бұрын

    With that said, it's mind blowing to think that back when libraries were your only source of information, the reality was that the information that you got was often incredibly out of date. Now that we are in the information age, not only is most of the information that you read up to date, but it is also available at our finger tips at any given time.

    I think that the Bandai Playdia controller, the inability to decide whether it wanted to be a video game system or a multimedia system, its clear lack of direction, its poor advertisement campaign overall, a lack of third party support, a lack of an initial killer library in comparison to its competition, possibly inferior hardware, as was the case with both the Bandai WonderSwan and WonderSwan Color, in comparison to its competition, a lack of confidence in the system, a lack of focus on the system, and the fallout due to the failure of the Apple Pippin, are all the reasons on why the Bandai Playdia failed. Coincidentally, there is a computer and mobile video game company that is called Playdia now. I wonder if they got their name from this obscure console video game console? Finally, what are the statistics on the Bandai Playdia? Thanks for responding to my post, Top Hat Gaming Man.

    @@hamstrungharry259 That's Michiru Kaioh aka Sailor Neptune. Oh, thumbnails as in plural? Well that's pretty obvious, innit? Anime is quite popular for 20+ years now in the western civilization. Putting one in your thumbnail of course will make the video more clickable (for most... there will be more liking than detesting it). Another thing is, that the contrast between anime and real world in one pic automatically let's you do a double take.
