Good you spoke on this topic. India is the breeding ground of aspirational features, doesn't matter if form defeats function! Sub 4 m cross over (SUV on a tight budget), sunroof (in a humid tropical summer country??) or coupe SUVs (just because Porsche, Lambo, BMW & Merc make them). There is so much to study our market. :)

If only more reviewers highlights the feature needed than just going gaga over unnecessary feature buyers can make informed decisions…

I'd say worst of both worlds, u miss out on the SUVs larger back space top to bottom & don't have the sedans handling or efficiency. Plus the look is ugly for me. But to each their own.

We are first to make the ugliest combination possible because of price constraints. I am waiting for the day we will be relieved of exorbitant taxes and overall poverty. For example look at wagonr in sri lanka and wagonr in India. Indian budget cars are ugly as sh*t. Only koreans put little effort and maybe honda city in design.

Apart from coupe suvs, Sloping Roof Line sedans me to Skoda Laura/Octavia kaafi acchi dikhti thi jisme trunk rear glass k saath khulta tha, I think Accent Viva bhi kuch aisi hi thi, but usme roofline pe additional kaam karne ki jagah boot ko hi chota kar dia tha. Tata Tigor bhi kuch aisi hi h, but overall sedans ka market hi shrink ho gya h.

I think apart from the unique design distinction, coupe SUVs are being launched by TATA, Mahindra in India because there will be EV variants too. For an electric SUV it makes a lot of sense to do Sloping roof line. It’ll be more efficient and offer better range.

I believe, the success of Suzuki Fronx in also a reason behind the increasing popularity of coupe SUVs. Moreover, I don't really think it is due to companies trying to create unique designs. I think the straight forward reason is, We Indians appreciate to look premium on budget.😂 That's also the reason why many cheap smartphones are being released with camera module, dynamic island similar to iphones.😂😂

Totally agree 💯. There's also a mind set of 90s and 2000s generation in India, " bhai bardi gardi Leni hai" but on the same had budget mein. I think that also played a Vital role in the death of sedans ( sadly) and the birth of hatchback "suvs" and now to fastback.

Maruti did Fronx already & everyone follows it now and the best part is they poke Maruti 😅
