Why Taoism's REBELLIOUS Sage Left the Insane World

Do you feel like you don't belong in this world? Have you tried to escape the madness of this world? Well, you're not alone. In this episode of The Sacred Word, I will explain two important verses from the 9th-century Taoist and Zen master Hanshan that detail how he dealt with the insanity of the world.

    Hi Jason, years I go I found great solace walking around the South Downs of England, I found myself frequenting the great foothills of the downs, to clear my head and just let go. I enjoyed meditating out there and feeling so free after relaxing the mind and becoming still , I was suddenly very open and aware of my lovely surroundings. during meditation and after great satsangs I've felt so so transformed and quite literally in an almost constant ecstasy in bliss as more of my normal . Doing really slowly meditative all days walks , I can be totally free and safe and focused here Just dropping the personhood away a little at a time to merge with it, chip by chip! - practice at first is okay, a simple feet on the ground, bottoms on chairs approach. like you say -' reverse our busy motion back to stillness where we find the nature of dao' - I feel so relaxed here and going where I please, like a horse in the hills happy as can be . I feel cleansed of the noise, suffering and chaos of the external perfect chaos, noise pollution is a real thing and can effect more sensitive ones easily. The hills A place where I can really be free and not be scared of the mad busyness of the city, free from much monkey mind nonsense talk and mind games both from myself and others . Ahh the hills thank you thank you thank you for guiding and helping me slow down to see the ultimate . The great dao

    We honestly don't understand how busy the outer world is now and how it affects us. An extreme example of this is living in New York. A very hard place to live with a calm nervous system.

    I live in the mountains of Montana USA, but I am compelled to go much deeper....I understand Cold Mountain.....Very little Tao in the city...Peace to all that must endure the concrete wilderness as I cannot imagine....It is comforting to know Tao is everywhere....not everyone needs to go to the mountains to find peace......but for myself, it definitely helps. Thank you for you work, it helps me.

    I hear what u r saying n feel it too. Yet I live in Chicago kinda a shady part. Yet I feel n see as well connect with the Dao. It's much more fleeing n elusive out here yet when I go with the flow of the insanity of inner city living by not resisting the spontaneity of the Way i.e.traffic,busy lines n craziness on every corner ...I just drift n float along the waves of countless people with nothing but understanding for their striving for their so called goals. But not me I keep my boat empty. Lol I struggle all the time but return to the moment n the flow of the current of the Way.Wui Wei is all powerful any n everywhere. Go wit da flow my brothers n sisters. I love all the calamities that come my way, twist n turn, duck n move. Sometimes a punch is thrown back only when warranted😊

    @@vladdyydaddyI've found the Tao in homelessness in the city. Especially one sunrise so cold too cold to sleep so I watched the sunrise. The wilderness is always quiet when the city is quiet like that morning you feel it deeply.

    We can't all become Monks and ermits. In the Gita Krishna scolds Arjuna for wanting to put down his weapons and escape to the Himalayas to meditate in a cave, and urges him to fulfill his warrior duty and fight the terrible war he's meant to fight. All life has to become spiritual life even when engaged in the world. The way is to act while being detached from the fruits of action, give them up to God, and turn all karma (action) into Karma yoga. Very similar to daoist Wu Wei in a lot of regards

    We could, but most don't, everyone has the potential and until that day when everyone becomes monk's on their own accord, their own choice, there will be no peace on earth, or for the Marxists, no communist utopia. That's how unrealistic Marxism is because it hasn't happened yet and probably never will.

    Arjuna trained to be a soldier and wanted to be involved; it was his karma (his doing) but it wasn't necessarily going with the dao. The momentum of his chosen life carried him into the war even when he became aware of what he was going to be doing; a master of the dao does not care what people will think of him if he flees, nor does a master of the dao flee due to emotion; the dao does what the dao does. Live your life according to stories if that is your karma, but perhaps investigate if its in keeping with the dao. Your comment simultaneously says "WE HAVE DUTIES! WE CAN'T JUST ABANDON SOCIETY" like a Confucian while praising the dao hypocritically; the perfect world that the tao te ching says we should have certaintly can't come about when people think they have to impose their will to make it come about instead of trusting in the dao.

    Ah beautiful thank you ever so much Jason. PS I was listening to Hanshan's Cold mountain pretty much on repeat all day yesterday in the hills! Many times, these things I am looking into, appear in your videos within a matter of hours on a regular basis. A beautiful simplicity is always conveyed from Hanshan that ultimately reminds us of who we really are at our core, to cleanse and become relaxed from not residing into the dusty city . Just so wonderful Hanshan and I mustn't forget dear Ryokan was another lovely zen poet

    Is there any literature of taoist sages living in society?

  • @aware2action
    @aware2action7 ай бұрын

    The big issue, with current society, is the inability to discriminate between, focused attention and mindlessly losing time(by getting absorbed in the chaos). Also we try to do, more with less time, that too without sufficient rest inbetween, all in the name of increased productivity. Inner peace could be achieved only through regular periods of silence and contemplation(could also be wire free meditation, authentic nature walk etc), letting go of things not in our control, and just being in the moment. IMHO🙏❤👍

    Put simply: shift attention from the visible material objects around you and focus on the immaterial realm of Open Space around you. Do this only when in a safe environment. You will feel a subtle perceptual shift to the Present and experience a Still Alertness as well as a tinnitus like ringing in the ears: the Still Small Voice.

    @@Lone_Star86Advice for your Ayahuasca journey. Be meditative mindful, don't get dragged away by thoughts and feelings. Observe when you feel "uncomfortable" through the cleaning process. Accept all that's happening by being greatful/thankful from the depth of your heart. Surrender your being unconditionally to mother Ayahuasca. Don't go into unpleasant memories, don't go into your trauma. You don't have to live your traumas all over, it only will lead your mind into the darkness. Instead, stay in your heart and feel the unconditional love radiating from your heart. This will wash off all your "dirty spots". Darkness can't exist in the light. It's your own love, your acceptance, your forgiveness, your surrender that will help clear your problems. I'm not saying that you will be "cured" in one session, but mother Ayahuasca will show you the way and after that you will know how to live your life accordingly. From my own experience, my body desolved and left me powerless. I had to accept my own death, or more precise, the death of my ego, the false personalized sense of I. Once I surrendered, transcendent my ego, I became an unconditional radiating being. I know, these journey's are all individual, but whatever unpleasantness that may happens, never forget your own pure heart 🙏💜🌈
