Why System Latency Matters - ft n0thing
Ойындар
System latency is the delay between your mouse to actions on your display. Lower system latency allows for better hit registration, faster reactions like flick shots, and reducing peeker's advantage. Learn more: www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/...

As someone who plays at higher latencies, I always try to compensate it with strats. But yes, there's always a limit to what you can do when the latency is just not low enough. You miss 100% of the shots, even if you take them, if the latency is too high for the system and then the server to register it.
That's why competitive games on console felt more fair. Everyone is running basically the same hardware. But as we move to 120hz and high refresh TVs that might change
@Wirzxcve
Жыл бұрын
Right. I owned a basic HD TV back in 2012 and I felt I was able to keep up with other players who owned better TVs or Headsets in BO2 Holding up a 4 KD with no Headset and reaching Kills up to 100 and never felt people had anything else, except better wifi (host connection.) but using basic wifi was more than enough and a regular TV. Now since cross-platform exists. It's not the settings they use or the Input controls. It's the system and the rates they receive data that make “Pros” have that Perception we see as skill. Until those same people compete against Those with the same latency and connection. We see that they're not as skilled as they made themselves to be in common game matchups.

Agree! I think the experience of gaming is infinitely better on PC. But in terms of competitive integrity, consoles giving everyone an equal shot in terms of hardware. And that’s a good foundation for any competitive sport/game

@Wirzxcve

It's not really the monitor. U have a 120hz vs a 144hz, but if the system can't produce i. The 120hz will still outplay you. Because their system can hold the consistent 120hz while yours is struggling to get near it, because it focuses on reaching 144hz even though the system is only outputting 80fps.
This is awesome to see, I love having data to quantify and explain what I am feeling but haven't been able to articulate before. #UltimatePlay

6:49 That graph implies that the 60hz system also has a slower CPU and GPU. It's possible to get low system latency on a 60hz system (down to 17ms) with fast hardware.
@rado4506
3 жыл бұрын
They are testing 144hz + 144fps which gives you 7,16ms + 7,16ms + 1ms (1000hz mouse) = 15,3ms (dunno how they got them 33ms system latency?) If you were playing 144hz + 360fps it would be 7,16ms + 2,77ms + 1ms = ~11ms 360hz + 360fps = 2,77ms + 2,77ms + 1ms = 6,5ms So if your system is able to maintain stable 360fps the difference between 144hz and 360hz would be around 4,5ms not 18ms like they had shown in vid. I might be wrong because i dont know how they got 33ms sys latency from 144hz and 144fps ?? i think it should be 15,3ms not 33ms.
this was actually really informative
I have tested this thing recently with my 60hz and my 240hz monitor and it actually very noticeable and awesome to see how latency just impacts multiple hardware and ultimately influence precision.

I really hope after this gets released nvidia actually make a full guide of the best competitive settings with the less input lag, because I only see quality tutorials on your videos, and a lot of randoms youtubers always contradict each other so we need the best settings from the Nvidia Experts.

Bringing the best always. Thanks Nvidia!!
I diagree system latency isnt as important as your ping to a server.You can have the best gpu ,cpu,or monitor ,keyboard,etc in the market and still not hit your shots. What matters the most is your internet speed and the server u play on.good ping offers better hit detection.we need better tick rate servers like 120hz
I just want to know actual price we are going to get in Denmark now for the new cards And yeah Latency was a big factor in Counterstrike back in 1.3 and forward it was a horrible back and forth with high low latency we had to deal with.

Also, if your system is already capable of pulling 144hz or more, buy a new 144hz monitor as your main one and use your 60-75hz older monitor as a second/third monitor. Switching to 144hz has forever changed my gaming experience and Im sure it will change yours, too

Thats why im using my best usb ports for my mouse and keyboard. Also graphics always on the lowest settings for best latency, more fps and better latency is so much more important than graphics quality in my opinion Of course all of that together with good internet connection and latency of all players in match. @@bobsag1164 yeah I kond of noticed aswell. Also I gotta admit I domt totally turn everything down. Some settings give a nice visual boost with barely any downsides to performance so i will of course turn them a lil up
The latency prediction is great if you put it into account when dealing with lag switching competitors. Worst case you need to experiment against them in each match to find how offset they are and determine the route in advance to there timing to actually interact with them. Halo reach on 360 had a solid 2 second lag gap so killing those intentional cheaters would be unrealistically satisfying
Glad im 30yo and done with competitive titles enjoyed CS 1.3 - 1.6 blazing everybody CS Source newcomers like with DoD This stuff cost too much and keep refreshing market so often
Yup that's true
I play Valorant at 144Hz laptop. I mainly use hotspot since my home wifi sucks, so there is an inconsistency in ping. 70ms and all of a sudden it goes 96 and 84 and 120ms. When I peek against enemy, I usually strafe back when I miss my shot but the enemy somehow killed me when I already strafed and the enemy supposed to not see me at that time because my body shouldn't be visible from the enemy's POV. This is one of the reasons why I always lost in a gunplay. I'm Gold 2 btw
Nice vid
