F your fear. Over priced education and giving crippling loans to young people is much bigger. Now its more widely known about the pifalls of taking on debt - not so much before, you have a whole generation of people struggling. There will always be bad actors - in the end, forgiveness will help way more people than hurt
Noone thinks its “okay” we as a generation are drowning .
Lots of super rich people have benefited from debt forgiveness. Why is it ok for them but not for others?

Maybe because it is their money to begin with? Check what you paid in federal income tax and then realize you don't pay squat. 50% of US citizens pay zero income taxes. The top 10% of the wealthy pay 90%.of all income taxes. So, it's there money anyway.
She is wrong. Predatory lending is wrong. We should teach financial literacy in schools so that children will have the chance to know better. This would solve most of the problem. But they benefit too much from our ignorance.
Education is definitely overpriced

In all seriousness, I don’t see what she’s saying here as a true threat. We took out these loan when we were CHILDREN. We didn’t know what we were doing, we just knew that if we wanted to get a higher education for a “higher paying job” we’d need a degree. I feel as though going into loans and contacts now as adults we are aware of what we’re signing up for and have actually done some analysis before signing on the dotted line. If anything, student loans are in their own lane because we feel as though we got bamboozled. For many, it didn’t provide them the high paying job they were bated with. Yet, we’re on the hook for full payments and interest. And on top of alllll that, where was all this backlash to PPP loans which were just rushed through. So much so it’s littered with fraud. Like, come on. You hate poor people and are scared to lose power, just be real. Too much upward mobility is bad for the current ruling class. They like thing JUST THE WAY THEY ARE. And you should too, peasant.

Yes!! Thank you…this reminds me of the talk surrounding extending unemployment benefits during the middle of the pandemic. There were comments, primarily from the wealthy, that felt continuing to provide people with unemployment compensation would encourage them not to work. Absolutely ridiculous. It always amazes me that the wealthy find a way to insert themselves into anything that involves giving financial support to those most in need. Meanwhile, you have countless big corporations receiving tax cuts and bailouts.
According to Dave Ramsey we should buy everything cash and if we can’t yet just go out there and get a 6 figure job even thou it requires a degree but make sure you pay for that degree out of pocket because student loans are stupid and if you can’t do all the above then your just a lazy spoiled millennial. Got it! I also love how his family or someone connected to his family are the ones running this show that are employed by him but hey if they can make it so can you!!

Good point. I wonder how Dave will rationalize central bank digital currencies when whichever Federal Reserve chairman starts pumping up the idea. War on cash and financial autonomy.
I think if you are not able to get a job based on your degree, student loans should be cancelled. Schools "sell" you a degree. If it turns out to be useless, then they sold you a bad product. Should return it for a refund.
It's obviously not okay to go into debt. But corporations should give thousands to kids for anything, much less a degree they don't even need. Schools shouldn't be charging this much money. I blame collegiate sports.
I do agree, people's behavior won't change and they will just change that $10k to consumer debt. However, with all due respect, she never had to personally deal with the anxiety and weight of student loans. She went to school fully funded by scholarships. Although that's commendable, Anthony was such a better expert because he knew that debt and could relate to everyone so much better.
I forgave myself for taking out loans by working hard to pay them off.
What if someone's perception of debt is that it's not okay and their just leveraging this forgiveness plan to save thousands of dollars. That's a win in my eyes.
So that they think it's okay.. "Muted"
My fear is that it doesn't go through and i won't get my $10,000 back
Which is why someone that benefited from declaring bankruptcy after making irrational decisions… shouldn’t be denying to others and running this company?
Lol 😂😂
Why would she be scared of OTHER people accumulating debt? Pretty sure she’s one of those people who know how to turn others debt into her profit.
Can’t wait to get my 5,000 student loan cancelation
No one forced you to go to college and not work while in college. You knew what a loan was.
Public colleges and universities should be free. Same with healthcare
Get outta here, lady! People can now breathe and not be bogged down by endless loan debt for a degree that most of us didn’t make much money from!
It's kind of my fear that predatory loan people become the victim.... This lady's opinion is less important than grass clippings.
It will infate the currency and contribute to inflation
Forgive a loan 😂
Student loan forgiveness. Oh wait-my mortgage identifies as a student loan. No one forced me to take out my mortgage, I signed for it, said I’d pay it back and did it of my own accord. Same thing right?

Someone will pay for it that’s for sure. Remember how Obamacare was free? Then the same people fawning over it where all like “this isn’t free!” Well expect something similar when they get their student loans forgiven. I take comfort in knowing I’m not them and I did the right thing by paying off the money I borrowed.
Debt IS okay. Talk to a millionaire or billionaire. They LIVE off debt in a way that an average person doesn’t understand. Debt is great if you know how to use it. How much debt someone has doesn’t change YOUR life. Learn how to be smart about the debt you take out. Invest with someone else’s money. Not your own.
college should be free, going into lifetime debt to get a high-level education is what is scary...
IDK what I would do if there was no debt..It's the way I do business.
Student loan forgiveness will not happen.
Well, lady, that’s their goal is to make you irresponsible with your money so then they can take control of everything you have.
Watch suicides increase this year and for the elderly. They don't care as long as it has a stock buybacks. Hold your loved ones close.
I agree. Don't sweat it bc it's not gonna happen. Or at least anywhere near the level critics might be worried about.
For a show that likes to quote the bible. Look up the verse on the debt jubilee. It is where all debts are forgiven. Not sins but debts are forgiven by religious decree. It isn't anything new to show compassion by lifting some of the burdens off the shoulders of people that are struggling. A meme that put this perfectly showed a kid coming home from college carrying $100k of student loan debt on their back. His parents bragged about starting their lives with nothing. He replied with i wish i was that lucky.
PPP loan forgiveness for most of these politicians should scare you because they think it's okay not to pay it back
Sadly the average American loves debt. Buying things they cannot afford to attain a lifestyle they cannot afford. Loan forgiveness changes nothing.

The fact that higher education should be a choice of financial debt isn’t ok. You’re priorities are insane
Thank you! Yes, people have been holding off paying down student loans, because of a rumor about getting them forgiven. So they are gambling with this rumor. Then, when the debt is not forgiven, they will still hold out, just in case.... Or... In the small chance some is "forgiven", more people will take out debt with the intention to not pay it back.... And it will spiral downhill from there. Unfortunately, it will cause people who struggle with finances, to continue to be enslaved... :-(
