Why Steve Jobs Didn't Have A License Plate

Ғылым және технология

Steve Jobs was known for having many strange habits, one of which was not having a license plate on his car. And his reason for this is equally as strange.
In the state of California, there used to be a loophole where a new car could be driven without a permanent license plate for up to six months.
Jobs took advantage of this by leasing a new silver Mercedes-Benz every six months. Each time the lease term approached the six-month limit, he would return the car and lease an identical model.

Steve Jobs had curable pancreatic cancer and knew folks at Stanford that were doctors that warned him to get the needed surgery or die. Jobs decided to ignore the expert advice and went on a special diet which failed to cure him... I'd say RIP, but the man was a monster to his employees ! The biography of him is eye opening

The barcode is not a substitute for a plate or anything like that. Mercedes puts those barcodes on at the factor on all cars of that era to identify the cars for production and delivery purposes, not a state of California thing

“…replaced with a small barcode was in its place.” - Rough timestamps: 0:35 - 0:38 . That small barcode [Rough timestamps: 0:35 - 0:38 ] is actually a Vehicle Identification Sticker (“VIN Sticker”).
