Why St Thérèse and Her “Little Way” Will Change Your Life

Ойын-сауық

How is it that a young French girl who entered the convent at 15 years old and died at only 24 years old would become a Doctor of the Church? How is it that on her deathbed her own sisters thought her life was so unremarkable that they struggled to write her obituary?
Today, Fr. Mike reflects on how the "Little Way" of St. Thérèse of Lisieux contains a secret to holiness for every modern Catholic.

Father Mike is probably the most authentic, most truthful, wisest priest I’ve ever heard. And I think a lot of it is to do with his humility. I too wish I could be more like St Therese and I hope and pray I will be. But I also hope and pray I get to be more like Father Mike. I don’t mean to flatter him or idolise him. I’m just saying this because he seems to me to be very aware of his weaknesses and imperfections, but he doesn’t let that discourage him. He seems to be able to lean on God and other holy people to help him through his difficulties and grow in his spiritual life, and that’s such a huge lesson for me. In that way, he already is like St. Therese, and I so wish I could be like him in that respect. I deeply admire him and pray God gives me the grace to truly learn from his words and example. And I pray God blesses and keeps him always.

I know that He loves the Prodigal Son, I have heard His words to St. Mary Magdalen, to the woman taken in adultery, and to the woman of Samaria. No one could frighten me, for I know what to believe concerning His Mercy and His Love. I’m praying the Rosary for all struggling with addiction for a whole week, with the St Michael’s prayer, because it’s so clear the evil spirits in creation desperately want to see human souls enslaved in this way. May God rebuke them, and deny them the ability to turn our natural desire for joy and pleasure away from godly things to these destructive substances that make human creatures willing to commit every sin with no will left of their own. It’s as if people’s whole personalities are destroyed by addiction, and because it’s seen as a voluntary choice, Christians don’t pray enough for those under attack in this way.

I wish I had heard this advice when I was just a young teenager. I went through years of discouragement issues and I wish I had someone in my life that supported me or showed me what my flaws were so I could start to actually deal with them.. Thank you for all the good service you do for people everywhere in the world. It takes so much hard work to be holy and to not fall in temptation in today’s times. I try fill my life with positivity. I know all too well what it is like to live in the darkness of depression and anxiety. I count my blessings now and I have learned how to worship the Lord in many ways throughout my day. Ever since I let God come back into my life and I abandoned my atheist beliefs, I have been seen so much good come back into my life and I don’t feel weighed down and so many problems I had have been washed away. I have no doubt, God exists and has the power to fix all your problems, to at least to help you deal with them, and he just as much has the power to let bad things happen to you when you stray from your faith and when you turn your back to him.

I was asked tó go to a nearby Monastery and had a serious Conversion experience and for the first time since it was mandatory in Catholic High school, I was found by the Prior in the guest Chapel saying the Rosary. The Blessed Virgin Mary gave me back to the Church and I never left the Monastery until the Dept of State & other Intelligent Agencies like Dept of Justice FBI domestic Terrorism division needed to speak to me and debrief me. I LOVE THIS explanation of Saint Therese it is the BEST🎁💝 If it were not for my spiritual sister Therese, I would never understand how to possibly Love and become a Saint like the Saints of old, who would scourge themselves and do all these, "harder is holier" things. It is Not this, it is "To Trust in the love of God for me"!!! This I did not know for many years but, once I came to know and understand this LOVE, all I wanted to do was Love Jesus back. I did not know how and was so confused until reading at 18, "The Story of a Soul", Saint Therese's autobiography🌹 Simple things like biting my tongue when I want to respond back to an unkind remark, letting go of anger when I want to hang on to it and...... so forth. This is the little way and when I fall brush off myself and run back to The Arms Of Jesus as fast as I can!!!

Well said! I’m publishing a weekly KZread video on episodes from the life of Don Bosco, entitled ST JOHN BOSCO by JOE ZAMMIT. In this series I’m narrating events and miracles from the splendid life of Don Bosco. St John Bosco used to perform a miracle almost every day, through the intercession of Mary Help of Christians. From the lives of saints we can learn how to love God more and draw closer to him. Thank you.

When I read "The Story of A Soul," the autobiography of Saint Threse of Lisieux, many years ago, and the only thing that I remember about that book is that she loves Jesus very much and the scene of how her eyes were lit up and she smiled before her death as if Jesus had came to greet her, it was the only notion that really touched the core of my heart. Yes, we can love God, there are many ways to love God. Try to use the Theory of Suggestion, and one will see many wonders and surprises when one least expects it. It is an invitation from God, and when we accept His invitation to give God a chance, our lives would change forever. When we live in God and with God, we will feel the reciprocation from God, and we will feel the warmth, love, teaching from God, and our lives would be very rich, so give God a try.

@@AbsurdScandal We don’t see the wind, but we believe that the wind exists through indirect evidences, i.e., leaves are moving, feeling the hairs moving, and most of all the coolness on our skin. God comes with energy, so if He is around us, then effects are grand and we would feel the goosebumps on our skins. The wind makes great special effects, and it is fun to dance in the wind. The melody would come into our mind and as we dance in the wind, each step, each hand movement awaiting us to create. Let our hearts flow with the wind and the dance would be so meaningful. God is invisible, just like the wind, so elusive, so transient, yet He is very loving, and as we twirl around in the wind, we could feel His energy, and as we move through the wind, we welcome Him wholeheartedly. Most of us are trying to find God, but could never find nor feel His energy. It is not that He is not around, but it is because our focus is somewhere else. So, next time when the wind is blowing in nature, leaves are flying in the air, or blowing in nature, take a deep breath, move around with glee, laugh, or smile, stretch our arms to the sky, and twirl around in the wind. Then invite God to come for a dance, and imagine that God is dancing with you. Feel the goose bumps in your neck, back, and feel the energy traveling from head to toes and vice versa. Feel God's embrace at each step, feel the wind in your hair, and just dance with glee. If He ever comes, then you just know. Tears will flow or start to well up in your eyes. Feel God's love as immense as the universe, and dance away with Him in the wind, and each step is a melody in the wind.....

When I sit at mass, I often envision myself sitting in the pew with a few of my favorite saints. Terese is right next to me. I think of them in their day and age at the traditional mass, and now at the novus ordo. I tihnk of how lucky each and every member of the congregation is to have these intercessors, and we pray for their needs. One particular church has quite a few statues of the saints lining the upper walls, and after each consecration, I have to glance back at St. Terese's statue, knowing how overwhelmed both she and I are at this miracle. God's Perfect Love gives us our Perfect Joy and it will never be taken away from us. OK OK I know it's only a statue-- but man at that point she and I are in such union with God.

20 years ago I've lost two babies through miscarriage. I was devastated. We have been married for 4 years and our babies died before they were born. I took a few weeks off and went to see my parents in Europe. In my mom's library, I've found diary of Zelia Martin, St. Terese's mom. She has lost few of her children, her love and pain after their deaths is palpable. But so is her faith that her babies are with Jesus, happy. She talks lovingly about meeting her children in heaven. That diary gave me so much hope! I stopped looking at my children as lost; I've gained my very own, precious, innocent little saints! St. Zelia Martin: thank you for sharing your love for God through your children.

Without knowing it, Jansenism plagued me most of my young adult life. I never really adhered to it, but I always felt guilty that I wasn't "doing more"...essentially feeling guilty that I wasn't becoming a martyr. I thought that to live a holy life, I should have become a Religious or should be very uncomfortable out there on the streets shouting God's news from the rooftops. But I wasn't doing any of those things. Then I read 33 Days to Merciful Love by Fr. Gaitley and it blew my mind and changed my life. St. Therese's perspective on the faith was so revolutionary to me, personally, that I couldn't believe I had gone my whole life without knowing these beautiful truths.

Just yesterday I posed a question on another channel pleading for help about my increased sence of wretchedness after hearing the truthful homily presented there. Then I find your video here today. The extent of my amazement cannot be offered here, but in a nutshell it is that great teaching of Christ: ask and you shall receive, knock and it will be opened to you. Although finding a proper spiritual advisor is very important, I can see now, in a small way, how God works all for the good for those that love Him, even by way of a platform dedicated to hindering the flow of truth. Lord, please continue to bless all those, painstakingly working hard in your vineyard, especially Fr. Mike! I already loved St. Therese. But thank-you, Father, for putting her in the context of the "harder is holier" context she was surrounded with. I didn't know about that and it deeply touches me right now. I grew up with a secularized version of that (always felt pushed to choose the hardest thing, _because_ it was hardest, even if it made me miserable), and I'm trying to unwind from that and grow a backbone. Start making decisions based on what I actually want, rather than always pushing myself (in a direction that itself is repellant to me) so far to the limits of my ability to cope with it, that I can't cope with anything else in life either, and especially am constantly strained in my relationships and ability to give to others. That was a tangent, I guess. But something about how you described Jansenism finally 'clicked' for me. Even if I don't actually think I have the religious version of it, but just the secular version.
