I think it made everyone tear up. Especially because it had Uncle Ben in the flesh. The only two other moments that come close are Spectacular Spider-Man when Peter fights the Symbiote in his mindscape and gets saved by Uncle Ben, and Ultimate Spider-Man when they team up with Dr. Strange to fight the demon nightmare who defeats Steven Iron Fist before attempting to torture Peter with his greatest loss. Unfortunately Nightmare's attempt to defeat Spidey through Ben Parker backfired. Instead Uncle Ben gave his nephew a confidence boost, and helped him remember that Nightmares only have power if you let them.

It really hits hard when a VA has such a genuine, heart breaking scream. Christopher Barnes definitely has one of those. Every time Peter was screaming like when the Mary Jane clone died, it just hits harder than it should, his performance is THAT good.

The ending to this show was amazing. Him meeting Stan Lee really brings the inner guilt and depression that Peter suffered throughout the series full circle. “For Once I love my life”, was Spider-Man embracing who he was and is something we can all inspire for inner peace and acceptance of who and what we have gone through.

As someone who grew up in the UK. This is my introduction to Spider-Man. Comics were annoying to collect, you would get 1-4 then none for weeks then 6-8. Every comic book I collected I had gaps. The cartoons were my real introduction to Spider-man, Batman, xmen, fantastic 4 and iron man. I feel like a lot of kids who grew up in the 90’s might be the same.

I can sorta relate. Not because of regional issues, but age. I LOVED the original Run of the Teen Titans. It was my favorite comic series ever since I received a big creepy trunk of comics from a family friend. The only problem? That original run took place in the 80's, one decade before comic collecting became a fad and all the comics were worthless due to there being so many in circulation. As a result, I could never find any of the books that left me with gaps in knowledge, because I didn't have internet, and my local comic book store employees would look at me like I had a third head when I'd walk in and say: "No thanks, I don't want to read One Piece. Can you point me in the direction of your multi-decade old rare-as-fuck comic books, please? By the way, my budget's ten bucks"

Thank you for making this video. I grew up in the 80s and 90s and this was the first well-made Spider-Man cartoon series I watched growing up. I read The Uncanny X-Men & X-Men as a kid while the original X-Men 90s series was on, but didn’t really get into Spidey until the show aired (I was in 6th grade when it first came out on Fox). I got heavy into Spider-Man reading Amazing, Spectacular, The Web Of, Sensational, & what was then known just as Spider-Man comics. I’d leaf through long boxes at the local comic book stores in my hometown (there used to be so many, usually next to arcades) to get the original available prints that the animated series had episodes based on and to this day, in my 40s now… Pete’s my favorite superhero of all time and I have all my old comics from the 80s and 90s. Watching this video brought back so many memories and even a tear to my eye. 😢

The Spiderwoman thing is always interesting to me. Because she literally exists for no reason but to exist. Stan Lee I believe said they made her up for the original Secret Wars just so they could copyright the name, and make sure no one created a knock off Spider-man named Spiderwoman. And the fact that she often just doesn't seem to have much to do in the Comics kind of reflects the nature of her existing just to tie up a name. They never really had plans for her.

It was also competing with the even more legendary Batman animated series, further cementing its place in history. Spider Man TAS is indeed, a great show that I am glad I got a VHS of as a kid. Granted, said VHS was lost to time, but I still remember the 4 episodes (Framed, The Man Without Fear, The Ultimate Slayer, and Tombstone) that were on it quite vividly.

I did not know that Christopher Daniel Barnes was a hardcore Spider-Man fan. Thanks for enlightening me with that info, and that he continued doing Spider-Man roles in other incarnations of the franchise at any chances he got.

I kind of like that we got Hobgoblin THEN Green Goblin, right down to their comflict later. I think that worked out for the best. I also like Felicia’s character in this show. The distorted voices of the symbiotes easily stand out as the best depictions of them for me and nothing comes close to me. The voices in general really. This is the spidey voice that i think of. Lastly, tbh even here I always found Morbis boring, although I didn’t mind the idea of hm teaming up with Blade and kind of wouldnt have minded a chance for him amd Spidey to have.

It’s the same exact thing as the Batman animated series. A lot of the origin stories we know and love came from the cartoons. Like Mr Freeze, Clay Face and introducing Harley Quinn.

Excellent work on this review. I don’t agree with your evaluation of every story arc but I can totally tell that we both strongly appreciate this show. It’s a very special piece of my childhood and it is indeed my favorite interpretation of spider-man. It’s got a lot of depth and great character development. You’re also right about many cool characters and your voice actor tributes are great too. Very good job. I’m so glad I watched this video today and I’m looking forward to seeing plenty more marvel cartoon reviews from you. On a side note I am one of the few people who actually likes the forgotten warriors arc. Maybe it’s just me but for me this story is a hidden treasure.

God, i loved this show so much growing up. Still do, still my favorite Spider-Man series (though Spectacular gives this one a good run for its money to me). I hope to whatever god is listening that they can bring this back. If X-Men the animated series is coming back with X-Men '97, then i dont see why they can't do that with this show. I just want Spidey to find MJ. I don't care if its just a single season, I need closure 😭

This series, Spiderman(2000) game and Tobey Maguire movies are so close to my heart. The studios could spun any form of entertainment related to Spiderman and it would always be awesome. Hated anything post 2009. Good old days of Jetix!😢

This show is a legend for numerous reasons, and the times Chris Barnes memed it up long before memes remains solid as a thing of beauty. I like Unlimited, it's different and unique with a rocky start, but I think it had the potential to be better than Spectacular.

Only minor issues this show had were fast pacing, reusing clips due to budget, and too many flashbacks of previous episodes or Peter's past. But besides that, this show was great. Loved this version of Black Cat having a story outside her costume and being a super soldier to keep up with Spider-man. Kingpin was an impressive villain. I found it interesting how his life of crime gave him everything, but then started taking away during the show. His wife left him for being neglected and becoming a hostage for his criminal rivals, and his son takes the fall for his crimes like how he did for his father and leaves Fisk fearing that history will repeat itself. I liked Hobgoblin appearing before Green Goblin because it feels like Spider-man had to face a stronger Goblin after the first, instead of a weaker one. And despite the somewhat cliffhanger with MJ not found yet, it felt like an ending to the series with the hero saving reality from his evil counterpart and meeting his creator. Also loved how Stan Lee called Madame Webb an exotic lady, given that she was voiced by his wife.
