I speak in tongues, sing in tongues pray in tongues. I had similar experience too. When i received holy spirit. I was in church we were praying i know the pastor was praying in English speak in tongues. I was praying, my eyes close then suddenly i felt the power of God came inside of me, supernatural i was standing then when i realise, some brothers put me to sat when my eyes opened. After two weeks i starts speak in tongues. I myself was surprised. I was praying in my house and my speak change in the tongues prayer. Before i was Jehovah witnesses before never heard about speak in tongues. I saw scriptures in bible talk about it. But i was think it not happened anymore. Elders never mention about it.

I never fell flat on the ground under the Holy Spirit anointing but I believe in it. My wife would fall but not me. Since I was a teenager I believed in speaking in tongues, influenced by the Assemblies of God friends though I was an ardent Methodist. The Methodists threw out a pastor from the Methodist body who taught such in Guyana. But my experience is different. In the US at a church service, the pastor of a Pentecostal church told me to touch a man who came up for prayer. I have been touching this man throughout the prayer but only when the pastor said to me to touch that man that the man fell. I believe in all the gifts that the Holy Spirit gives though I do not claim to have some. I tried to speak in tongues and sing in tongues and it may be unintelligible as some may say but I encourage it. There is a type of tongue speaking where you deliberately shut off the understanding and babble as some may call it. I believe in that type of tongues speaking also but you must be baptized with the Holy Spirit first. Only with the Holy Spirit we can have that supernatural power. If it is in the Bible I believe in that promise.

Good question. Most thinking individuals would wonder at the same question. First, the gift of interpretation of tongues is a special gift, just like the gift of healing, working or miracles, diverse kinds of tongues etc. So, it won't be as commonly available and experienced as the gift of tongues which is given by God to all believers who have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, as a grace language for worship, prayer, and fellowship with God. Second, and thank God for this, this precious gift is still in operation. I have been to churches where it was in operation, often accompanied by diverse kinds of tongues, interpretation, and prophecy. Our personal experiences do not validate or invalidate God's word (because it stands true no matter our experience), yet, I have personally experienced this precious gift of interpretation of tongues in my own life on a few occasions over the years. Jo, Paul said in Corinthians that when you speak in tongues no one understands it and you speak to God. He also said in this context that he speaks in tongues more than you all.. so these are different than act 2 which is a language... that some people actually understan. God is the same yesterday today and forever so why would the first church only need those spiritual gifts and now for some reason we don't and it's all of a sudden not valid and even like you say, not of God. Read the Bible... one of yours, favorite saying. I find it hilarious how yous say "when that is perfect come" is the completion of Bible so we no longer need spiritual manifestation. You have to do some fantasy doctrine to read that into the word. By the way, is helps for today? Is teaching for today? Just use some but not all.. pick and choose.. it's error... error on the side of caution is still error

Thank you for your question. It is a valid one. You are referring to 1 Corinthians 14:18: "I thank God that I speak in tongues more than any of you" (NLT). First, you notice that Paul did not mean that he spoke in tongues more than everyone (including the other apostles and all Christians everywhere at that time etc.). He simply meant that he was confident that he spoke in tongues more often than any one member of the Corinthian Church at that time. As the founding pastor of that Church, it is reasonable to assume that he knew them (and himself) well enough to make that claim. Second, Paul was referring to the gift of tongues which is given to all believers who have received the Holy Spirit in-filling, as a prayer language to worship and praise God and pray effectively. This is simply the gift of tongues which accompanies baptism of the Holy Spirit and remains with recipients as a form of divine grace language for prayer and worship. It is, in fact, this type of speaking in tongue that Paul was referring to here in the passage as Message translation makes clear: "I’m grateful to God for the gift of praying in tongues that he gives us for praising him, which leads to wonderful intimacies we enjoy with him. I enter into this as much or more than any of you." (1 Corinthians 14:18-19). But then, there is also the gift of "diverse kinds of tongues" which may or may not be accompanied by the ability to interpret those tongues. "To another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues” (1 Corinthians 12:10 NKJV). Not every Holy Spirit-filled believer receives this gift. This is a special gift just like prophecy or healing or faith etc. I have posted different videos on tongues, some of which further clarified this topic. Hope this helps. Let's keep engaging, praying, and advancing Christ' Kingdom! - Frank

That is why it was the sign to Peter that Cornelious household and all that was there was saved when he witnessed all being infilling with the Holy Spirit. Thats why jews had to accept the fact the gentiles were saved because it is only gift given for a believer after Salvation. But all it was another event in a believers life after Salvation. It has nothing to do with recieving Salvation.

The difference between the 2 is the indwelling happens when you accept Jesus. The infilling of the Holy Spirit equipps for your Spiritual Warfare. That is why Jesus says wait till you get it. If you notice all the gifts of the Holy Spirt, there is only 1 gift that is needed and used to strengthen a believer (SPEAKING IN TONGUES) but the remainder is ministering gift. It was the Holy Spirit that revealed Gods Word for both defense and offense. As a christian you should be equipped with Gods Word and also given speaking in tongues to strengthen.(Defensive) The remainder gifts is ministry gifts and Gods Word is for battle. (Offensive)

You have an important point there. The same issue you mentioned was precisely the same issue that made Paul write the Corinthian Church to straighten things out. In fact, that was what 1 Corinthians 14 was all about! Churches or individuals who abuse this precious gift and use it as a wedge to drive away other believes need to be encouraged to practice it orderly and biblically. Yet, Paul was clear to set order in place and not discourage the use of the gifts, including speaking in tongues. In fact, he encouraged believers to speak in tongues more often during private prayer and worship. There is something powerful about that. 1 corinthians 14:2 For he that speakers in an UNKNOWN tongue speaketh NOT UNTO MEN, but unto God..... so, it is clear from scripture that this gift from God is not a human language at all, for it is an "unknown tongue". This tongue is spoken to God only NOT to men. NOW Acts 2: 6-11 In the above scripture we are told that after the Spirit of God came at Pentecost, men heard (the believers filled with the Holy Ghost) those gathered in one place speak with OTHER TONGUES, every man heard them speak in his own language..... The Apostle Paul clearly distinguishes 2 different tongues here: 1) the 'UNKNOWN TONGUE' in Corinthians 14 that speaks unto God (a mystery) 2) the 'OTHER TONGUES' that all men heard in Jerusalem spoken in his own language. (A long list of places and languages from Parthians to Arabians).

Speaking of tongues we have today is speaking gibberish. It’s unintelligible and meaningless. It’s a lot of noise that’s unprofitable and that nobody understands. Not at all like mentioned in bible. Acts 2:6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them SPEAK IN HIS OWN LANGUAGE. It’s a language that could be understood. See also 1 Corinthians 14:5 I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he INTERPRET, that the church may receive edifying. 1 Corinthians 14:6 Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine? If you go to a church that makes a lot of noise that can’t be understood or nobody to interpret , you better run. During our worship service , we have people who worship in other tongues, telagu, mandarin etc, but it’s always interpreted so the whole body gets edified, otherwise what’s the use ??

Why put God in a theological box, He is more incredible and vast than you can understand. I'm not saying learning scripture is a bad thing, I'm saying He is greater than what you or I can coveive! Proof? Paul was pharisee, extremely knowledgeable of the scriptures, yet God had to knock him off his high horse inorder to fullfill God's purpose for his life and to be able to break down the prophecies and mysteries in the scriptures to teach the other disciples and ultimately the church, and over the years He is revealing more and more to the church. Please be more receptive to possibilities you are completely unaware of, don't lock yourself into thinking if you learn all the scriptures you will have arrived and be acceptable to God, if you do that, there would not be anymore need for God and you will fall as did the angel who claimed he would be like the Most High! Hehas yet to reveal His Glory in these last days but I am in hope we will experience some of His manifest Glory and Prescence!MARANATHA
