Why So Few People Have This AWFUL Achievement [EU4]
Ойындар
Today we're one of the most tedious EU4 achievements. Start as Hawaii and form the USA. It might be a good pun but boy is it tedious.

It seems around 1300 is when historical evidence of Polynesian expansion stops which would be linked with the time that the Samoan and Tongan empires begun to collapse. Not too much is known about their collapses, if they were still expanding after the 1300s, or if they were up to anything else (i.e. landing in the Americas or Australasia).

I tried to get this achievement, it's just that I didn't want to have a heart attack after getting attacked by the colonizers randomly, especially when for some reason they bring their powerful allies, I reformed into a theocracy and was stuck with a 1/2/1 which I named Enrique while I had a good heir, It was boring but at least I had a gold mine in California which helped alot but I hate the fact that having them means being targert by everyone in Europe, I also bordered the Zuni federation which for some reason hostile at me but they also didn't attack me despite being better than me. Agreed, Hawaii should get explorers as its tradition considering they explored waaayyyy before EU4 began, it wouldn't make sense to have it as an ambition, it's like the Ottomans getting tolerance of heathens, or Morocco and Tunis raiding coasts as an ambition, it doesn't make sense that something they had before 1444 has to be taken much later, too bad the Polynesians are neglected by the developers.

The polynesians didn't get neglected, lol, the whole reason we have polynesians AT ALL is because they bothered to do it alongside other, more pressing regions at the time. They just didn't get a very expansive amount of content, which is... well, to be expected. Close to no one will be playing the polynesians, and on a Grand Strategy level, they did close to nothing at all in the game's timeline.

This was the last achievement I got when i had my old computer. That took a minute to do a whole month. Although I thought the run in terms of gameplay was quite fun, the lack of action made the game pretty boring and just sitting at the computer for like 3 whole days made me go buy a new computer for a thousand dollars that does a month in 3 seconds. It’s interesting to actually be rolling in ducats after you unite the Hawaiian islands and just delete your whole army until you need it to colonize, which I did by going south to go east. I colonized north Colombia to just bypass all of South America, moved my capital there, and then went up to the USA and colonized there while conquering 1-2 native tribes. I had conquered Australia and New Zealand cause I was bored but that ended up making my capital switching harder, as I had to release all the nations as vassals.

I tried this run. Right after I started colonizing in Florida, the Brits followed right next to me and immediately declared, destroying/taking all of them. Never remotely considered trying the achievement again. I was devastated by spending a decent part of a day doing fuck all just waiting to get colonial range only to be instantly stopped the moment I can start properly doing the achievement. On a kind of similar note I just finished a Knights of the Caribbean run that was much more enjoyable. Except I didn't get the achievement because I forgot I needed the Mediterranean islands also and the Ottos are way the fuck stronger than me.

I don't know if it was intended but if you vassalize a nation out of your colonial range and you give them land in a war you can claim land for yourself next to that province. You can't core it unless you lose the rest of your provinces and become an OPM but if you do it in Mexico you will be able to find some easy targets that you will easily conquer. This way you can reach the New World before the Europeans and be strong enough when they start creating colonial nations. Once you start snowballing you can easily conquer the whole continent and if you stack the correct modifiers you can get tons of governance capacity and 40% minimum autonomy in territories.
Every time I see these games I always want to see someone take every island in the world and just become a huge naval power holding the world hostage.

Although I did thy great mistake to colonize that damned island in my capital region, which despite being in the state it's not in the same sea tile, so I could not give it away. So, I had to move my capital twice, first to the damned island and the to the New World. :P
@crayonmythos
Жыл бұрын
Doesn't make sense that that's a choice seeing as Hawaiians had no form of currency and making war claims was super difficult because you had to defend your reason to the tribe and inspire them. Even if you were a chief you could still get shot down plus it depends on what tribe and island and time of year you invade. We had a holiday that made it kapu (illegal) to start wars. This was the same time Cooke came hence why we didn't kill him despite knowing who he was. This is why when king Kamehameha went to war with the islands he used guns. Some tribes joined without conflict though. Really, you don't need vassals in Hawai'i because we were self sufficient and had everything we needed. Only reason why we united was because of threat of invasion by the English. Other than that there was no reason. Instead, the run should be about trading and discovery rather than warfare as that is what traditionally Pacific Islanders did, warfare was a background thing and was rare until the 19th century but that was because of Colonialism rather than pure greed or ignorance.
*Sees the Balrijin save* Ah, I see you too are a man of culture.

True, he should get explorers and conquistadors as a tradition because the polynesians went all the way to Madagascar, it's like saying that Morocco should raid after their get the ambition, after all if they were ambitions they shouldn't be existing nations in polynesia in the samr way Barbary piracy did from the 15th century.
@joshuaalach9431
Жыл бұрын
@@Rullino32 sort of. The Polynesians didn't go to Madagascar. The Austronesians did. There is a distinction. Basically the Polynesians are one of a variety of groups descended from Austronesians. Also i think that there should simply be a fairly wide "seen" area, but beginning with a conquistador or colonist right away would be a bit op. Colonist and conquistador as a 3rd idea for the smaller island nations seems fair to me. Notably the Maori did not do much exploration after settling in NZ. NZ had so many more resources than the Polynesian island chains that it seemed pointless. One major change needs to be the number of provinces in NZ, as well as a reworking of the system to reflect the multi-tiered whanau-hapu-iwi structure of Maoridom.

The one thing I would have suggested is to try and nocb vassalize a Maori country. I don’t know if Hawaii and New Zealand count as being part of the same Oceania “continent”. If they do, then you could fabricate claims, annex and core any province adjacent to a vassal provided that province is on the same continent as your capital. This factors in often to join the hre by conquering East Frisia, taking Irish earldom for colonial range, or imereti for conquering in the Middle East. Some Japanese shogun players use it in India. If this case it’s debatable whether the 50 dev is worth a nocb stab hit but it would give you some expansion while waiting for colonists, also expanding range.
At least it's not just me that hasn't done Voltaire's Nightmare
Another method to change capital to the new world is by having 1 province/state in another continent (Asia/Africa/Europe) and make that your capital. In my knights game I changed my capital to Djerba, my only African province and then I could move it to the new world.
Oh man. I did this right after the update. I feel your pain. It was so frickn boring xD. But now I've got the achievement.
I didn't even know there is Hawai'i in EU4. I wish I could understand this game (HoI4, CK2/3 sure, but EU4 is beyond me) :D Anyway, great video, had fun.
One of the great things about eu4 and paradox games in general, is that not only do you get the console to play around with, but you can also mess with the save files, and even the game files to any extent that you'll still find more fun than game breaking. To give an example, all you need to do to switch the Hawaii-an traditions and ambitions is to go to the game folder\common\ideas, edit 'zz_group_ideas.txt', and under 'hawaiian_ideas' replace the values inside 'start={}' and 'bonus={}'.
Would be cool if you could use manpower to move ships overland
If you like interesting Mission Trees, you can try the Anbennar Mod for EU4. It is really great and has excellent Missions.
11:39 So Long Island is just Manhattan now?
12:25 Quarbit: "Now we can vassalize the Len-ape" Me whose studied the Lenape tribes in 7th grade (our curriculum was weird): its literally pronounced "len-a-pay"
Please do Voltaire’s Nightmare next. It’s pretty easy as Austria. Just conquer a lot of Slavic land and let them join the hre.
That idea with Ming seems cool

Every Dev of a coastal province gives both landforcelimit and naval forcelimit
Well done anyway. I didn't get it last time cause i had had a more intresting things to do, like napping after a long busy week in bed instead of chair. But i chose a different path for that run. Though the California and Rocky Mountains. It was sufficient, despite dropping everything to a vassal, got 3 gold mines across all of western coast to fuel the war efforts. It wasn't hard, but it was boring to get there and extremely annoying with all of this tribal shitland and millions of native stacks.
Man, I got this achievement in like 1.31.something; to roleplay the US of A, I had corruption in the 20s and about 40 inflation, and max loans at all time
A five word objective made so, so painful to go through.
5:13 How? They’re a new feature
Switching Capital is not necessary for the achievement: just colonize some provinces in the east coast region until your colonial nation will form and has 10 provinces. Than give them independence and choose play as "whatever-name-you-gave-your-cn". Now form America. Achievement done! That's the way I did it
Because 99% of the playerbase does not own all 9 million dlcs so they don't go for the achievements because they can't get all of them

Hawaii mod would be great!
It makes zero sense that Hawaiians would be placed in colonizer shoes, this is not what Pacific Islanders are. We had a few skirmishes here and there but that was for petty squabbles usually rather than purely land and resources although that would also be pretty petty as well. We were self sufficient and had no concept of currency so there was no need for vassals or servants, instead we relied on each other. Occasionally you might have a helper who might be seen as a servant but this was for specific cases like someone to help a woman change her pad during periods (the "pad" was made from plant fibre that wrapped around her body to be secure). Warfare in Hawai'i began as a reaction to Colonialism where we were terrified of an invasion rather than pure greed or ignorance. Instead the Pacific Islander run should be about trade and exploration rather than conquer as that would be more accurate to my ancestor's culture.
When the nation has such a lack of gameplay that you want to develop a mod to fix it lol
An anbennar video when?
