For me, it's #2: screen sucking!! I have to work on my computer... so it's this constant insidious challenge to be there - but NOT look at email and social media. I feel SOOO much better when I limit social peeking to a couple times a day... but it's astounding the way "social screen suck" creeps in without my looking! When it does... I'm scattered and can't concentrate.

I was 'let go' yesterday because I was 'insubordinate' over calling out my OCD boss politely in him feeling free to group text us micromanaging issues in a passive aggressive way off the clock...having to deal with my autistic son's issues and my phone alerts me: 'you should not be sitting down on the clock at all, please refer back to the handbook for any questions' which hadn't applied to me at all and embarrassed a co-worker. I had responded 'it is not appropriate to contact me about a non-specific matter while I'm off the clock please; and thank you'. It's like we are not allowed to draw boundaries if someone has control over your paycheck...I am smart enough to know this wasn't my loss in the end; and start my new job fist thing Monday.

TucoChannel Actually I agree. Over analyzing is the biggest factor of underperforming. Smart people limiting themselves because they think too much of "what ifs".. I am not saying your opinion is wrong or whatnot. It is great. But it is an opinion of a victim mode. It is better to accept your lacking , than blaming everybody. The victim mode mindset is the very mindset of losers and underperformers. I'm really sorry. Please don't get mad.

My experience suggests smart people do NOT underperform, but they DO ignore the value of sucking up to their bosses. Sadly, most bosses prefer to have ass kissers over talented workers. The only good thing about this is that sooner or later the ass kissers and the ass kissed are found out by their superiors to be useless, and out they go. I sure hope Gordon Anderson, Freddy the Freeloader WIlman, and Sue O' (expletive deleted) have other jobs lined up, because when corp. finds out what total liars, cowards and client-losing imbeciles they are, out they'll go!

I'm guessing overperforming comes naturally to you, but you became disengaged following an offensive lack of results. It doesn't have to be that way. The alternative is to know when and where to overperform. ...For unappreciative, clueless coworkers? Definitely not. ...Doing something you love? Absolutely yes. If you're stuck in a place where overperforming no longer seems worth it, then you could divert even just 25% of your "overperformance effort" into finding people and projects *fully* worth your life's energy. The approach is challenging as it requires the ability to skillful shift your personal energy. But you're rather intelligent. I bet even a mediocre attempt from you yields interesting results ☺️

Real quick just gonna pop in and help everyone out People could make a "Why smart people don't watch 'Why smart people X' videos", which they won't (because it would be bad advertising for similarly named content, as demonstrated below), and it would list some things like "smart people would already be smart enough to know why they do what they do" and "the videos are obvious click bait for the less intelligent to visit, self identify with via confirmation bias and speak out about how smart they are to feel more secure" the latter of which, of course, repels smart people For the record, I know exactly why I underperform, and have no business being on KZread, let alone commenting on it. I just feel like being dumb for a while because it's relaxing.

I get the idea that 3 things is too much. I tried to do that and it overwhelmed me. I always felt incompetent and even confused it with laziness. It's not that. I just need to make this work for me. So, now I just do 1 goal a day that helps me get to 1 main goal for the month. For me it's just going to bed at 10 pm so I can get up earlier in the day and be more productive. My goal is to give myself more sleep because I'm always tired. Then my next goal is to drink 32 oz of water a day. Drinking water gives energy as they say so I'll do it starting in January. Maybe you can try 1 goal a day, even if it's the same thing, until it becomes a regular habit. Then you can still be productive. That is 1 of the secrets I've learned that's really gotten me, slowly, over depression. Tell me what you think.

I understand how you feel. But be open to the possibility that your mind is painting a bleaker picture than what your body is willing to try. Here's an *exceptional* video where a high performance coach describes three very small daily goals for a client with depression: kzread.info/dash/bejne/p5uIl7ikds-aiNI.html (Spoiler alert: it's Brendon Burchard on Tom Bilyeu's Impact Theory. The "three goals" is in the last interview segment)

Asperger is a highly functional form of autism. I can function just fine, just have an inability to socialize. Asperger people tend do be very smart just like autists. ADHD is excess brain activity, inability to keep focus and excess energy. Aspergers + ADHD means being smart but not being able to focus to use it. Real autists are not fully functional, there is a difference there.

But we owe it to ourselves and to the world to live our lives in our highest vibration. This wouldn't be possible if we are stuck in a relation with a vampire - even if it is our mother. Rare Person No, you are not stupid. You just have an amazing brain, different from people who don't have ADD and this is why they cannot see how great your brain actually is. Most visible symptoms are bad but this is because you haven't seen the great stuff about ADD. To help you, you may want to do meditation/mindfulness, making sure you are not on low sugar levels, increase the amount of blood coming to your brain (put your head upside down for some time or get some medicines - for example, gingko biloda, a plant, help extremes body extremitues to get more bloid and because this is a plant, there are no negative effects contrary to drugs) and, very inportant, cut gluten out of your diet. Improve your sleep but setting sleeping routines and stopping usage of screens at least 30min before the time you want to go to bed. I am not diagnosed with ADD but I have assessments at the end of the months are these are advices I read from a lot of different sources.

Because they're smart enough to realize that unless you like getting everything getting dumped on your table, it's better to be lowkey at your job. If you want to get a job done well, you give em to smart people, because you know they're smart and won't mess up. And if you're a boss and you want something done, but the person you gave that job to is fucking it up, because you want it done, you'll give that job to someone smart. That means more work for smart people, while the fuck-ups lean back and smile, because now you're doing their job for them. Of course, the kicker here is that we don't really know if these fuck-ups are doing it on purpose, which begs the question of "Who's smarter now when you're doing my job for me?". And what's worse is if it's no longer peer-to-peer, but boss-to-employee. You do their job, then they take all the credit. Really, it's a combination of people who want shit done well, and people who knows how to take advantage of this dynamic.

I just love when americans talk about underperforming or underperformence . You would know wouldn't you . And no wonder the world leader on the topic is american ! Thanks for the video i had a good laugh . Smart people do not underperform , stupid people do not realize we are and think, that's all . we are not underperforming , we are just tired of trying to explain top you what you don't understand and it makes us waste precious hours every day . Just for the record I am Both an MD (medical doctor for the overperformers) sepecialized in the human brain , a vet, (veterinarian for the dumb cunts who watch too many war movies) and an ethologist (look it up i have already wasted enough time explaining to you what a vet and an MD are) . Graduated from La Sorbonnes and Pari 5 , from Cambridge and later on the royal veterinary school, and finally from Kyodai one of the two best university in Japan . (and yes i speak 7 languages and i am actually Icelandic, but i had the misfortune to be born in the US and leave there until puberty and i know a lot about this joke of a country and how it revels in its mediocrity yet refuse to acknowledge it ). There are two men i admire a lot (i am far from comparing myself to them) and both of them were deemed underperformers , they failed at their tests in school and their teachers relentlessly told them that they would never achieve anything in their life and were even called stupid and inefficient by their employers before they started becoming self employed . One of these men was Nikola Tesla and the other was Albert Eisntein . So i guess i'd rather have the world filled with underperformers like them .

Jim Samuel This is very hard. Try to control your brain activity using your... brain. Not easy at all, it needs practise and time ! And this is even more an issue because what controls the focus is about the amount of neurotransmettors (not sure how you write that word), not something you can control with meditation or by will ! Sometimes there is no way you can focus and sometimes you are so focused that someone could die next to you without noticing it !
