What i’d like to see moving forward: a new CEO who can embrace the fact that Six Flags was always meant to be a premier thrill park destination and improve the things that likely result in unruly teenagers. clean the parks up, improve the food, make the bathrooms nicer, speed up the operations. these are things Cedar Fair has accomplished in their parks and they are performing a hell of a lot better than Six Flags. I also want to apologize for 6:48 when I said “irresistible” instead of “irreversible” 😂

1000 percent agreed. I thought they had that with the prior CEO but they only gave him 18 months before getting kicked to the curb. Wasn't his fault that there was a pandemic. Salim is gonna kill Six Flags, and the worst part about it, one of those multi-billion dollar hedge funds double downed on him when they bough more shares.

That's what I'd like to do, but it sucks that the closest Cedar Fair park is like 6 hours away (I can choose between around 4 parks at that distance ),but the nearest Six Flags is only 45 minutes, and is at least one of their better parks. Makes it really difficult to just pretend it isn't there and spend a fortune on travel...but I'm afraid refusing to support them is the only way they're going to get the message, so for now I'm holding strong.

I totally agree with what you say needs to happen to improve Six Flags. But I also think the price increase needed to happen as everything has doubled in price over the last 10 years. Remember when McDonalds value meals where $4, nbow they are $8.. Cedar Point did it slowly and effectively. The previous Six Flags management failed to increase the price effectively creating a poor situation for current management. Six Flags chasing "cheap consumers" (regardless of age) is the reason food, ops & general park appearance has went downhill for the last 20 years. These problems have been a long time coming. hopefully they get smart and spend the money on improving food, ops and appearances (in that order).

@@NickyD Yes, there are parks that are doing well despite being more expensive than Six Flags. The only problem with that is those parks consistently provide top notch experiences for their guests to justify those high prices. On the other hand, Six Flags fails to provide guests with that kind of experience, and yet they’re trying to increase the prices anyways For reference, a few weeks ago I went to Universal Studios Hollywood and Six Flags Magic Mountain in one weekend. The difference between the two was night and day. Universal had plenty of rides open and I was overall satisfied with my experience. Magic Mountain was still relatively fun, and it always will be since it’s my favorite amusement park of all time. However, I’d be lying if I said I was completely satisfied. Way too many rides were down, including Wonder Woman, Goliath, Riddler’s, and Viper. Rides such as X2 and Drop of Doom faced constantly delays throughout the day. All in all, it was FAR from the “premium experience” that we should be expecting to get from Six Flags based on how high the prices have become Selim has to realize that his strategy as it stands now is simply not working. If he wants to increase the prices for guests, then there should be a focus on ensuring that the guests are satisfied with the money they spend on Six Flags. That begins with improving ride operations and ensuring that rides are actually open. Until that problem is fixed, I don’t see why he thinks that Six Flags can charge as much as other parks such as Universal or Disneyland

No offense meant to anyone, but this new CEO - I'm not gonna give him the privilege of saying his name because he might as well be a bot and frankly a despicable and lousy one at that - is absolutely rotten to the core. If he was a superior officer in the military whom I had to salute, I would definitely say out loud, "I'M JUST SALUTING THE RANK ... SIR" before fragging his ass after dark. Men like him have blood on their hands and are directly to blame for the sinking of the Titanic, The Great War, the Great Depression, the Challenger explosion, the Columbia disaster, the Great Recession, and almost every other catastrophe in recorded human history. F@#K THAT SH!T-FOR-BRAINS DOUCHEBAG. Men like him are responsible for the friendly "hostile" takeover of Boeing by McDonnell Douglas after Boeing bought McDonnell Douglas and MOST of the lives lost due to the DC-10 cargo door failures and the Boeing 737 MAX MCAS malfunctions. Men like him pushed the Challenger to launch in conditions unapproved by engineers and also denied the damage to the Columbia even after the disaster until it became apparent and obvious who the real culprits directly responsible for spilling the blood of the two shuttle crews were. The depraved idiot is like the leader of Russia, charging into battle with a horde of "Yes Men" and not much else, and everyone except for the Dear Leaders suffering for of it. THAT MAN represents the absolute worst in humanity. A sh!t-scum-stain that ruins everything they touch and then rides off into the sunset on their golden parachute saddles. Oh, he wanted to promote Six Flags to families instead of their core audience for DECADES? Let's see, who was another famous SHIT-FOR-BRAINS FUCKWAD - enough of the fakeness, I'M BLOODY PISSED-AS-ALL-HELL - that also disrespected the core audience (and yet got away with murder)? Oh, yes ... Disney CEO Bob Chapek. I'M SO DAMN GLAD THEY BOOTED HIS ASS IN ONLY TWO YEARS. Human fuckwad turd cutting annual passes, Fastlanes, etc. The two of them and EVERY OTHER PERSON LIKE THAT can burn in Hell for all eternity, as far as I'm concerned. Men like him were responsible for IBM profiting from knowingly and intentionally selling the Nazis the machines they used to kill more efficient at the Holocaust. HOW IN THE HELL DO YOU EXPECT TO SUDDENLY ATTRACT FAMILIES TO FUCKING PARKS WITH RIDES DESIGNED AND BUILT FOR TEENAGERS AND ADULTS? Where could families take young kids to have fun that is much closer and cheaper than ANY amusement park could be? Oh, yeah ... the FUCKING MINI-MONSTER-GOLF COURSE IN THE STRIP MALL AROUND THE CORNER or the DAMN FAMILY FUN CENTER DOWN THE BLOCK with FREE admission and indoor attractions OR MAYBE I DUNNO "CHUCK U. FHARLIE'S" PIZZA-AND-VIDEO-GAMES-JOINT ALSO IN THE STRIP MALL AROUND THE CORNER. Really, CHIEF DOUCHEBAG OFFICER? Were you born yesterday? Let me answer that for you: YES, YOU WERE. How else would you expect a large amusement park with MUCHO WALKING OUTSIDE DOORS IN THE SUN REQUIRED BUILT WITH GRAND RIDES FOR TEENS AND ADULTS to suddenly start catering to families with young kids better than FAMILY FUN CENTERS MUCH CLOSER TO THEIR HOMES? And then you name DISNEY AND UNIVERSAL STUDIOS AS EXAMPLES? ARE YOU FUCKING SER-DUMB-OUS, BRO? WHAT A COMPLETE AND UTTER JACKASS. GET OFF THE DAMN STAGE BEFORE YOU FURTHER HUMILIATE YOURSELF. Let's get one thing straight. Why are Disney and Universal so successful at attracting families? Oh, I dunno ... MAYBE BECAUSE THEY ARE MUCH MORE THAN AMUSEMENT PARK COMPANIES? IN FACT, NEITHER EVEN GOT THEIR START IN THE DAMN AMUSEMENT PARK INDUSTRY. What do families go to Disney to see? Oh, I dunno ... Snow White? Cinderella? THE SIX FLAGS CEO'S MOM? What do families go to Universal Studios to see? Oh, I dunno ... The Marvel AVENGERS? Harry Potter? Jurassic Park? THE SIX FLAGS CEO'S DAD? FUCKING SHIT, MAN. I WASN'T AWARE SIX FLAGS ALSO OWNED A MOVIE STUDIO WITH TONS OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES JUST RIPE FOR THE PICKING... Oh, what's that? They don't? They haven't even made one movie or TV show the entire time they've been in business?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! WELL THEN HOW THE FUCK DOES THE NEW CEO SUDDENLY EXPECT TO LURE FAMILIES IN? By paying tens of millions of dollars to purchase the rights to use characters and stories of other companies? Yeah, good luck with that. That reminds me of the debacle that Paramount found itself in after buying the Kings amusement parks back in the 90s. Also, EVERY LITTLE BIT OF DISNEY AND UNIVERSAL STUDIOS WAS BUILT AROUND "THE EXPERIENCE" AS THEIR PARKS ARE "THEME" PARKS AND NOT AMUSEMENT PARKS. So this new DOUCHEBAG CHIEF EXEC wants us all to suddenly believe Six Flags will immediately pay the BIG bucks (MUCH MORE THAN EVEN B&M GIGA COASTERS) to completely retrofit ALL of their parks to become "THEME" parks?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!! Oh, is that so? Let's see where things stand after one year: uh huh ... just as I thought. Prices have been jacked up and attendance has plummeted BEYOND ROCK BOTTOM into the physically impossible. Whaddya ya thunk? Shithead asshole jacked up prices while RUNNING RIOT like he's Elon-Fucking-Musk after just blowing his money on a new shiny company and then abruptly realizing he's headed for the BIG CHAPTER 11 and panicking by throwing everything INCLUDING THAT SINK HE PROUDLY BROUGHT IN ON HIS FIRST DAY to staunch the bleeding. Oh, really BRUH? You think firing half the staff, overpromising and underdelivering, trashing the parks into the ground, causing maintenance nightmares, and generally ruining everyone's days (STAFF AND GUESTS) is going to somehow make the parks MORE attractive to families? EAT SHIT, FUCKING DOUCHEBAG. Seriously, what a nutter! Dude should be locked up in Arkham 'cause he's more insane than the Joker! At least the damn Joker manages to follow through on his schemes. In all seriousness, I have no idea how we got into this whole messed up situation. The new CEO needs to go. And everyone who voted for him from THE BOARD DOWN needs to go as well. Smack that golden parachute onto his ass and shove him out the door before "Six Flags" ceases to exist. Oh, and by the way ... running Disney and Universal parks ain't cheap. I dunno what Chief DOUCHE is thinking, but clean parks, GOOD shows, costumed characters, etc. costs staff. A lot of staff. And IIRC many news articles are now sprouting stuff about labor shortages and increasing labor costs. Absolutely Egg-cellent timing to suddenly begin converting amusement parks into theme parks, dummy! The way That Schmuck is running Six Flags, I WOULDN'T BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR. In fact, I wouldn't even trust him or any of his partners in CRIME to even WATCH my daughter's lemonade stand for a few minutes. Next thing we know, she comes back and finds out her fresh ice-cold lemonade has been replaced with warm watered-down concentrate, her price of 50c per large cup has increased to $50 for ONE teeny cup, her stand is in shambles after being ransacked for parts to build a giant frame around her paper sign, and all of her previous daily customers have vanished because they were openly and brutally MOCKED and TOLD OFF for being too old to be buying lemonade from a child. With all due respect, FUCK THAT NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE.

As someone from outside the US, these changes are pretty much stopping me from ever going to another Six Flags park. I keep hearing about abysmal operations and I just can’t afford going to, say, Magic Mountain, buying a flight, lodging and paying an arm an a leg to get in and not being able to ride half of their biggest attractions. So not only are they alienating plenty of thrill seekers, they are becoming less attractive tourist destinations.

The whole point of raising prices was to reduce attendance, therefore reducing queues and increasing guest satisfaction. But then, they thought they could cut staff. Fewer staff means half the park is closed and the stuff which is open has worse operations, meaning queues are just as long as before, so there is nothing to compensate for the higher prices. I liked the idea of Six Flags investing more into quality of life improvements, such as improved operations, improved transportation, improved cleanliness, more greenery, and repaints on some of their rides and vest restraints on their old Arrows and Vekoma's as opposed to new rides, but they haven't done that. They've raised prices, lowering attendance, and cut staff to compensate for the lower attendance, meaning queues are just as long as before, half the park is closed and customer are paying more for a worse product. They haven't spent on new rides or quality of life improvements, unless you count their new app. No wonder no-one wants to go to Six Flags anymore. New Yorkers will probably just make the trip to Hersheypark. Texans will go to Universal's new park. St Louis could permanently lose a lot of customers when they realise how much better Silver Dollar City is. Californians will probably go to Disneyland, Universal, or Knott's. And I've just gone on a tangent listing alternatives to Six Flags parks. And people from areas without alternatives will either travel to a destination park, such as Cedar Point, Kings Island, Disney, or Universal, or just not go to a theme park this year.

Nailed it. I live near SFGAm. I've been buying passes from them since the early 90s. Not every single year, but most of them. Many years, I get a Cedar Fair pass too. In 2021, we visited 10 or 11 different parks (not as many as some of y'all, but that's still quite a few). I'd have done more if I had more time and a more reliable car! That's two season passes, btw - both myself and my kid. Last season, we bought both passes, but they didn't get much use. In the case of Six Flags, we didn't go as much because of disappointment (various reasons, but particularly operations). Even reading about the sh!t shows happening at OTHER Six Flags parks sapped my enthusiasm about going to Great America - and it's historically one of the better ran parks! We didn't make it to many Cedar Fair parks simply because of distance and car trouble. So, this season, IDK what we're doing. Might just be individual trips, if and when I can afford them. I would have loved to renew my Cedar Fair passes, but it was hard to justify with the distance to their closet park and no specific travel plans yet (the small price increase didn't help). I appreciate that Six Flags has lowered the prices back to something more reasonable (if they had settled on these price points in the beginning, I think hardly anyone would have been upset). However, how well the parks are going to be staffed and operated is still a big question mark, so I'm reluctant to reward them with my hard earned money due to the past year plus of really stupid missteps (IMO). I kind of feel they need to learn a lesson, even though it'll be painful for me too. If they tank again this year, maybe we can be rid of this guy and start fresh (maybe they'll go bankrupt and SeaWorld can snatch them up, since it seems they want to expand so badly...and they've got experience both competing against theme park juggernauts as well as turning around a chain that's been dogged by controversy).

@@jasonfinneran9374 tired of watching the same reused stations, bathrooms and food stands from 30+ years ago rot away because when they retheme an area or build a new ride, they're too cheap to replace them. Sure, you can recycle them SOME, but a lot of that stuff is from when the park opened still! Goliath is still using the same station as ZForce! American Eagle's entrance has always been a bit goofy, but it's been trash since they took the big top down, and now that kiddie area they replaced the queue with looks like trash too. They need to redo that entire County Fair area next, similar to how Carowinds is doing their Aeronautical Landing area, but maybe just one new flat ride to replace Revolution, since it barely runs, along with an American Eagle restoration (keep the theme, unless they're going to redo all the themes over time now that they screwed up the OG theming with all the DC stuff. As for Eagle, I don't care if it's wood, Titan or I-Box, just freaking do something before it falls over!)....and that's the LEAST they could do, aside from simply restoring operations to pre-pandemic quality. They shouldn't be raising prices until then, if anything, they should give us more perks (that cost them barely anything) to offset all the other BS.

I am vary concerned with SFMM’s operations. When I was there in January, we were waiting for wonder woman to open on a Friday. The ride was testing for about two hours, and it finally looked like it would go. People started building up at the entrance. A lot of people. Lots of kids and teenagers as usual. Then they started letting people in, but stopped them immediately after. The crowd was jammed into the entrance, without having any way to get out, and with huge crowds behind them. People were pushing and shoving, and it was extremely dangerous. We were packed in there so tight people were starting to get very uncomfortable and saying they wanted to leave, but couldn’t. Quite frankly, it was dangerous, and I’ve never had such a bad experience at a theme park. I’m pretty sad with where the parks are going with the recent trajectory. It's all about "families". Or Bassoul's version of it. The guy really knows NOTHING about parks. Also, I went to my former home park of Magic Mountain last September. Most restaurants were closed (so much for improved food and services) and some rides were barely functional. The family friendly Justice League dark ride ditched the 3D glasses and basically the preshow as well. Not to mention some of the animatronics and lights were broken too. Nice to see all that great quality Bassoul promised being delivered. Seriously I'm hoping shareholders demand accountability and get this guy as far away from the company as possible. Justice League was cool when it first debuted, and particularly impressive for Six Flags, but at this point its pretty dated, and that's only worse with the removal of 3D (even if 3D is less trendy now, it helped mask its flaws and improved immersion). While it's still nice to get out of the rain or heat, I feel that ride's time has passed and it's time for something new. Especially at SFGAm, where it's not even near the other DC themed rides (and where Southwest Territory could use a new ride).

My local Six Flags (Fiesta Texas) always has what I call artificially inflated wait times for their attractions. What should take a few minutes takes a half hour or longer because of extremely slow load times, dispatches, or simply running one train on a roller coaster. This is my biggest beef next to rides breaking down often. Even my old friend Knott's Berry Farm in California, while not a Six Flags park, has suffered from these artificially inflated wait times in the last 10 years also. There is no excuse for single train operations in any major American amusement park. One time at fiesta Texas I counted four rafts operating on the rapids ride that's right four.

Yeah Six Flags was always meant to be the cheaper alternative to Disney or Universal. Your local Six Flags park was always meant to be a reasonably priced fun day for the working class. They were never parks about tourism and premium experience. I go to Magic Mountain because I want to ride coasters, not because I want to have a Disney experience. I think it's stupid how the new CEO is ruining what Six Flags was, a chain of relatively low priced parks that offered a lot of thrill for cheap.

After my terrible visits to magic mountain and fiesta Texas late last year, I am taking a year off of Six Flags for the first time in quite a few years. The fact that their pass is even on par with cedar fair is inexcusable. Have no intent of returning unless I see major changes given how much I've enjoyed my trips to sea world/Busch Gardens parks and always love Cedar Fair. I live in the Wisconsin but will happily pay for travel to go to an actual decent park. Sad given how great parks like Great America could be.

Also in Wisconsin, also taking the season off. Our trip to MM was pretty good, but that was before this guy went on the rampage. It still could have been a little better, but nothing worse than a typical visit to a Six Flags around that era (so decent ride operations on most rides, a couple rides backed up or closed, and horrible food operations). I don't care about the food because it's both overpriced and trash, and most theme park food always will be (one or the other at least), so whatever - but they can't afford to have any worse operations - especially if they're thinking about raising prices. That's disappointing to hear about Fiesta Texas - that seemed like one of the last well run parks left. I had hoped to make it there last year, but it didn't pan out.

@@lightfantastik Yeah, I visited fiesta on a weekend during fright fest last year and it was the worst park experience I've ever had. Run worse than Mt Olympus. Only 3 rides open, and the ride ops were horrific. Besides awful dispatch times, they had groupers who had no idea how to do their job. Didn't see a full train the entire day, which is not a good thing when that's literally the point of grouping. I did the three rides once and left immediately. I know for *sure* Iron Rattler was one train ops for almost the entire past year - but just this weekend it has gone back to full two train ops (they got slammed waiting on a part that was delayed due to shortages. . yes, for that long). Wonder Woman was also down to 1 or 2 train ops, which made the lines brutal. And gully washer blew a pump, so that has been down for a while waiting for a replacement as well. With the Poltergeist refurb, that's running better than it has in years. give the park another chance, as they have resolved most issues, and many of the rides there are people eaters: Goliath (B&M Batman clone), Superman (B&M Floorless), and the new Dive Coaster, Dr. Diabolical's Cliffhanger. Park can't control the wind obviously, but the line jumping and ride ops were horrendous in 2019. In 2022 they only had 3 coasters open. That is inexplicable and inexcusable during a busy time like Fright Fest, or any time (though I can at least understand some rides being closed during normal off season dates for maintenance). I'll likely return for a visit when I go to COTA land in a few years, but this park has been the most disappointing of the 30-40 parks I've visited. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the Vekoma for St Louis. I figured they'd be getting just another Skyline, but instead it's a custom Vekoma kiddie/family coaster. That's a ride the park has desperately needed, since the closest they have to a kiddie coaster is their mine train or Pandemonium. Honestly, I don't know if it would be any different under a different CEO. Now, there's a lot of work that needs to be done, but honestly I feel like giving it some time to see exactly where this goes. See if Selim changes his mind about big additions to the parks. I think Dr Diabolical will be a major deciding factor too. It may show that adding some large coasters will actually be beneficial.

I will agree that the coaster at St. Louis is something that that park needed on the long list of improvements/additions that they need. However, I do think Six Flags would be doing much better under a different CEO. In 2021 my home park Great America saw extremely high attendance for most of the season and since is one of their top tier parks it helped bring in the revenue the chain needed. We also saw several major infrastructure projects going on around the park. We also saw the first B&M coaster Six Flags Bought in ten year (the last was X-Flight at Great America in 2012). What do all these things have in common? They were started by the former CEO that Selim forced out. Now looking at 2022 attendance was down at the same time all their competitors saw an increase. Once the projects from 2021 that spilled over into 2022 were finished we saw very little improvements maybe except for some park benches and painting over rotting wood. Not to mention the loss of Holiday in the park at a park that is in between Chicago and Milwaukee with a large population to draw from. So yes I can confidently say that the chain would be doing much better under different leadership

I remember when our local Six Flags was AWESOME- they had TV screens playing 'Looney Tunes' in front of nearly every coaster so you could watch cartoons while waiting in line; the prices were all pretty affordable (not just for entry, but also food and souvenirs); and the park looked and ran great!! Now, the park is over-priced in every regard, the overall look is incredibly under-unappealing (our 'American Eagle' coaster has more exposed wood than paint on the main structure- and it no longer runs backwards), and the whole atmosphere is just sad and less magical. They closed down part of the kid's area, and they also seem to let in wayyyy too many people on the weekends. I also hate the newer coasters, which are all smooth steel and boring to ride (but that's just my personal preference, tbh). Just like Disney World, I miss the Six Flags of the 90's and early 2000's. :(

They treat their employees like trash. I was a face character, Wonder Woman, and the park guests thought it was funny to pinch/slap my bottom while posing with me for a photo to record my reaction. Other times they would try to hug me, often from behind, or put their arm around me while posing for a photo (despite my clear/firm objections). A group of drunk college girls wanted me to park with them in a photo, and one of them forced a kiss onto me like the sailor and the nurse WW2 photo. The company didn’t do anything about my safety or that of the other characters who were also harassed by guests. Other face characters went through what I did, mascot costumed characters were beaten and harassed. The park security couldn’t do much about it except to kick them out and risk an angry phone call from the company because a guest complained about being kicked out, food vendors being emotionally abused by guests who didn’t like the food or drinks, rampant fighting by park guests, etc.

We’ve had the diamond memberships for a few years now. The closest six flags is like 6 hours away, but I figured it was cheap enough at like $9 each per month that it would be worth it for the 3 or 4 visits per year we make. Well they’ve jacked the prices up to where we’re paying around $50 for the three now and that’s $200/year per person. I can’t really justify that for not visiting much. It’s great to get included preferred parking, a skip the line per visit, and generous (more so than CF) discounts, but I’m not sure we’re breaking even at this point. We’ll likely try to hit SFNE, the Texas parks, and SFMM asap then cancel them. I will say that our visits this year were great in respect to getting a lot of rides in. The parks were fairly dead. We went to G Adv for 2 days in April (Sat and Sun) and I don’t think we waited over 20 mins once. It was to the point where we just used our skip the line at the end of the day bc the lines were never bad enough. Probably did El Toro and Ka like 15x 10 or so on JDC and Nitro, a few on the remaining B&Ms and at least one on everything else. Similar situation on a Friday in July at SFGAm. Only Maxx Force had a long line, but we just did single rider once and then the skip the line. Everything else was super short. Rode all coasters at least once with 2x on Viper and Maxx Force 3x on RB and 5x on Goliath (they let us get an extra on the last train). So, at least in it being a more premium experience with less full parks, I’ll give them that.

My best bud and I both went ahead and got the $90 ticket because of the free parking and benefits and didn’t even realize it was the season pass. We went at 11am, waited in line just to park from around 11:30am to 1pm, finally parked, got out and waited in another line for around an hour just to get into the park and man… you can just tell everyone working there hates their jobs. The whole placed seemed miserable. We were there for a total of 4 hours before we decided to leave. We only got to walk around the park and see everything had around a 2-3 hour wait until we saw Apocalypse at 30 minutes. We then proceeded to stand in that 30 minute wait for nearly 2 and a half hours. Worst theme park experience of my life. Do yourself a favor and don’t go.

A lot of complaints about rides being down happens during the late winter months, at least for SFOT. I don't think it's fair to charge someone full fair if half the rides are down for maintenance. If not completely closed, at least maybe half price tickets. And have signage (before entering) stating what is down and why. Also post the info on the website.

We visited last summer, on a Saturday, and all of the major rides were open and fully operational. Yet, even on a summer Saturday, there were very few lines for any rides. Most we just walked on or waited for maybe 10 minutes. People here say the St. Louis park has gone downhill. Sure they haven't introduced a new big coaster since American Thunder in 2008 (it's been hand-me-downs from other parks since) but it's still a nice park, clean, decent food choices. Thing is, many are now headed further down I-44 right past Six Flags and driving 3-4 hours to Silver Dollar City which has been seeing amazing business for many years now. Some are going 3 hours to World's of Fun in KC. Really too bad because I grew up at Six flags as did numerous St. Louisans. They need to bring the shows back and introduce a new big coaster to keep so many from driving right past on I-44!

I got to enjoy a total of two rides, the other had an hour long waits, and I valued walking around the park with my family more than wasting time in the lines... I went with my two youngest brothers, and they were able to get on about two rides total, the rest were closing just after the park opened, and I couldn't belive that they were trying to go for the "family friendly" roure when they barely had a thing to offer for them, they had more fun playing on the cheap playground set. The water rides were closed, and all the food booths were shut down. My mom was able to find someone selling funnel cakes (her favorite). They were overpriced, and they also caused us to leave early because they were disgustingly soaked in grease and made her sick. We had to walk damn near to the exit to find one restaurant that was operating, but the food was so overpriced that we decided to just find something on the way home. It was an awful experience to have with my family, I'd be forgiving if they'd advertised it as a place for teens, but it was being heavily advertised as family-friendly at the time. This was the location in illinois, 10/10 wouldn't recommend 😕

But they spent years gutting the parks of family attractions and installing roller coasters so honestly there's nothing for families to do at their parks. MM was a balanced park at one time but has been gutted and all that's left are coasters. You can see some of the theming left at SFGA and SFFT. I also think the demographic he's after is loaded with competition considering he's going after the Cedar Fair, Sea World, and Herschend crowd. But if they stay a so called decent budget park or maybe a true thrill park they can stand alone. It's going to be tough sledding either way.

I will say its nuts to think abt the fact that when you adjust for inflation, six flags dropped $75,000,000 on X and X2 refurb combined while also building Tatsu in between.

Opening day at SFOG, SEVERAL fights broke out, a lot of the rides were closed, opened late, or broke down. I have been going to SFOG for YEARS and after the price jump, we switched to the tried and true chain, Cedar fair. What I've noticed is six flags has been going downhill for quite some time; after some research, turns out it wasn't just one park, but basically all of them. Rude staff, gross eating areas, unhappy customers, etc. I'm incredibly disappointed in Six Flags as a company, but Cedar Fair, I am honestly impressed with their staff, cleanliness, ride comfort and maintenance, and overall a positive environment and experience.

Honestly I still have my diamond elite membership and I kind of like the drop in attendance. I don't need them to put in more coasters, my biggest gripe with SF parks is that the food sucks and the parks are often lacking visually. I have the choice to drive 30 minutes to SFA 1hr to KD, 2hrs to BGW, or 3hrs to Hershey. At SFA I actually really enjoy 4 of the coasters there which is pretty decent for me at parks. I typically have 2 or 3 I like and thats it. However I almost never go there. A new coaster wouldn't really change that. Sure the first year I would but after that its still the dingy park with shitty food. I'd rather just drive a little further for a better experience. So to get me in the park spending money, Selim might actually be the right guy for the job.

I vidited SFMM last year in spring for the first time. Operations were really, really bad. At X2 our wait time was more than 30 minutes with a flash pass as they were only operating one train with an anverage dispatching interval of approx. 4 minutes. Apocalypse and Batman were closed and Superman had so many downtimes that I couldn't ride it. Wonder Woman was still under construction. Maybe I'll come back one day if they improve their operations and maintanance.

Cedar Fair owns Great America in Santa Clara, which will close in the next 10 years. Six Flags owns Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo which is also sitting on some valuable property and also has no room to expand. Just a thought, what if Cedar Fair and Six Flags formed a joint venture to build a new them park in Northern California, near Sacramento. Build something with a Gold Rush theme. There is a lot of land south of Elk Grove or east of Sacramento near Folsom. You would draw a lot of customers from the Valley who right now would rather driver to Disneyland or Knott's berry Farm than drive to Santa Clara or Vallejo.

Not only the new additions would grind my gears, but also the choices that Selim makes for their parks are beyond ridiculous. I've been going to Great Adventure for years and as of last year, I've started to get into more amusement rides than just roller coasters, seeing the Parachute Ride getting removed without notice just gives me a huge punch in the groin as I never got to experience it since I kept focusing on roller coasters at the time. This may sound harsh, but something also tells me that Selim does not have good experience in working in the amusement industry and perhaps hospitality management. I really hate to see Six Flags going downhill again and it makes wish that Great Adventure is not my home park at this point.

I went to magic mountain the other day and I’m not gonna lie the parks operations where terrible for the first 2 hours the only coasters open where full throttle and west coaster racers. Slowly the the other rides started opening up but rides that remained “temporarily closed” all day included, Wonder Woman, ninja, and scream. Not to mention riddlers, gold rusher, Superman and Goliath where all just already going to be closed that day. At least I got to ride X2 for the first time and get re rides on a lot of my other favorite coasters at the park. Don’t get me wrong I had still had a fun day, but the operations just where not there. Though I honestly think it could have been a staffing issue since the park had been closed the past 2 days due to weather, and the 5 was closed north of the parks, so any staff from that side would have had a lot of trouble getting to the park.

I've kept my legacy Diamond membership so far -- even after Six Flags raised the monthly price without ANY advance warning -- but after a great 10-year run with season passes and then the membership afterward, I'm just about to tap out. It's a shame, since SFoG was my very first job, at 16...a looong time ago.

I believe Six Flags St Louis's coaster is a clone of a vekoma model that is extremely popular in indonesia. From what I read online, it was fabricated for an indoor park in indonesia, but they couldn't ship it there due to covid, so six flags bought it.

Most of the problems you describes seemed to only be true at six flags magic mountain, expect for price as that is universal. At my home park, all the major rides were open, operations were great, and in the span of 5 hours you could ride every major thrill ride there.

And Knott's in October was all walk ONS with only about 75 people in the park. $100 each to get in and with validation to park by the food shops we paid 10 for parking plus 50 for an electric wheelchair.and I know it is a cedar fair park but it was a way better experience.

You can tell the new attractions are to get families with younger kids in the park. Kids young enough they can’t be dropped off. It’s pretty obvious the goal. Six Flags over Georgia is my home park and while I have no problem with that in particular, it’s the rest of it that needs to be beefed up. The food is crap and most drink places are almost always closed like you said a lot of rides are down because they don’t have enough staff. We have a splash park like the one you featured and it’s actually really great but it’s often closed now because they don’t have enough lifeguards to run it. If I can’t guarantee that the rides my younger kid will be interested in are going to be open and there’s nothing else to do other than rides - well it is not a great way to spend the day… Universal and Disney have shows parades characters etc. - then it’s hard to justify the price for the day. at Six Flags over Georgia we used to have a Thomas the train section which I know you might laugh at but it was really great for attracting younger kids and when my son was three he loved it. It brought us into the park for the first time in a long time... however when we experience flooding in 2009 that area was ruined. And I’m not sure if they lost the rates but basically that area sat empty for a long time until a couple years ago when they got pandemonium. However that area of the park still feels really barren. it’s hard to explain but there’s just a weird vibe at Six Flags over Georgia that makes me uncomfortable. When I used to go in 2001 and 2002, there was a awesome fun vibe with tons of entertainment tons of people tons of food choices tons of snacks and all the rides were always open. basically kind of like a mini Disney World. Unfortunately they weren’t able to hang on to that and it’s just degraded further. The last time we were there the entire section with superman and battle for metropolis was actually closed. They just don’t have enough staff to run all of the rides. now when we go sure, it has some fun coasters but it’s just depressing for me!!
