Why Sisu's Siblings ACTUALLY Picked Her To Be The Last Dragon
The Druun are an interesting enemy. In the film, Sisu explains that Druun are the polar opposite of Dragons. Dragons are the embodiment of selflessness all things good. They also symbolize unity through mutual trust as well as life. Druun on the other hand are monsters. They are depicted as creatures of pure evil. They say that they are born from human discord, with their only reason for existing being to destroy or consume anything in their path. Nothing else matters to them.
We don’t know for sure why Sisu was chosen by her siblings to be the last living Dragon, but we know that if it wasn’t for her, the humans would never have been saved. Three theories are circulating on why Sisu’s siblings REALLY chose her to complete such an important task.

Actually, nearly all Asian dragons are water dragons, and the rain was pengu's magic. Here's the theory that my friend and I came up with after watching the movie a couple of times: sisu's magic is that of rebirth, reincarnation, as water in the water cycle reforms, just like she does. Twice. We suspect her siblings knew that using the gem was going to kill whomsoever did it, and gave it to the one who could come back from that.
@abandondon

That's actually a really great theory, she would've turned into stone like the other dragons from gem but instead of that, she basically turned into water. We see at the end of the movie when the last person put the stone together, they did turn into stone. The dragons weren't immune to the Drune either, so it had to been her power, even when she got hurt by the arrow and fell. She still came back

I don’t know anything about this movie, never heard of it until right now that it showed up in my recommended, but after reading several comments and theories, and kinda grasping the plot and everything, this one seems the most logical.
The first theory is the most plausible by far. The other two depend on Sisu being inherently different from her siblings. ALL of the dragons are water dragons, not just Sisu. Her siblings chose her not just because she was so altruistic, but because she lacked confidence in herself. Pride is the downfall of humanity. Pride is what causes division. Pride causes us to mistrust one another because true trust requires a measure of humility, both in admitting that we can be wrong sometimes, and in admitting that we need each other. Sisu is a very humble dragon, to the point of self-depreciation. Her lack of confidence in herself is what made entrusting the gem to her specifically so important. The gem works via complete trust. By placing their trust in a dragon who had no confidence in herself, Sisu's siblings empowered the gem--and Sisu--more than they ever could have by giving it to literally anyone else. Also, Sisu is not the youngest. Amba is.

yeah first theory works, second theory doesn't even make sense. And they says that DRAGONS bring the rains, not just Sisu, the water receded because the last dragon died, not specifically Sisu.
Correction: ALL the dragons are water dragons. Sisu’s siblings were just the most powerful, and Sisu doesn’t have the ability to summon rain. That ability belongs to her oldest brother, which is the wisest one. It was clear when she said “this was my oldest brother Jagan’s magic. He was able to bring rain.”. The reason why all the water disappears when she dies is because she was the last dragon alive. Once all the dragons are gone, the water will go with them since they are all water dragons.

I think Sisu still being alive is what kept the water flowing. Once she died, being the last dragon, that's when the water started to evaporate. Actually, when all the dragons came back (except Sisu) that’s when all the water came back. All the Dragons were responsible for the water so no matter who went the water would have stayed. In the film you can see when Sisu dies the water goes with her. When the rest of the dragons come back form stone the water comes back with them and then they bring Sisu back with the water because since they are all water dragons, revival that way would be successful (also because the plot demands it) but for dragons that are not water they would have no luck (I guess?) It proves that Sisu and all the dragons are Water Dragons except Sisu’s power was to swim stronger than anybody else. You stated this beautifully and I believe your theory.
Sisu is a unique Finnish concept. It is a Finnish term that can be roughly translated into English as: strength of will, determination, perseverance, and acting rationally in the face of adversity. Sisu is not momentary courage, but the ability to sustain that courage. It is a word that cannot be fully translated. Sisu’s power is in her name.
me and my sister were talking about a similar concept about the third theory, were sitting on the couch being like "SHES WAY MORE POWERFUL THAN PENGU!???" and being like "shes literally responsible for all life on earth!" good to know the theory is covered here, absolutely loved this movie
I think it's because she has the purest heart. It was said in the beginning that the dragons bring the water, so when Sisu died, the water left because her death was the death of the last of the dragons. Plus, Pengu brought the rain, and they were all water dragons, you can see in the end that the water _actually_ came back when the dragons did, then they brought back Sisu _using_ the water. Also, she wasn't the youngest, Amba is the youngest, Sisu comes second I believe. Pretty sure Pengu is the oldest, then Pranee and Jagan, then Sisu, then Amba. In that order except I'm not 100% sure about Pranee and Jagan's ages, I don't think it was ever mentioned where they fell in the line of siblings.
@bhqld628

Supported. I figured they gave her the gem because she was the one who might help others to trust and care. Since the Druun are born from human discord, her heart was the most powerful tool, both as a defence and as their downfall.

The theory about Sisu being responsible for the water makes sense in a way, however if i remember correctly, it was said in the beginning that all dragons bring the life into the land, so that means that any other last dragon could've died and the water as well would stop flowing, not necessarily related to Sisu

Unless all last dragons gave enough of their power to other dragons?
I saw one commenter here saying Sisu's magic is "Flow". She did say she's a REALLY good swimmer. What if her siblings' power can't actually be combined perfectly and it would actually need something to help it flow, circulate or stabilize it? Maybe her power is what actually enables her to tap into her siblings power(flow) after they retrieved the gem pieces?
I have a theory that goes back to why the dragons weren’t brought back after they turned to stone the first time. This was because there still “druun” present in the world after they were wiped out. This was because there was still doubt, human discord, and no unity with the humans in the world (hence why they were separated to different tribes and they didn’t trust each other - seen in the first parts of the movie). Much like the end when Raya gives her piece to Namaari, it’s because “you have to take the first step.” I believe it’s similar to what happened with Sansu. She was chosen because her sibling dragons knew that her low self esteem and confidence made her scared and hesitant to use her powers to make the orb but seeing her loved ones do it she followed their first steps and dedicated herself to make the orb. At the end, all the dragons came back because the orb was brought together with the unity of all the tribes because there was mutual trust and unity within the humans again (the orb was brought together by one person from each tribe).
The last scene and the explanation why Sisu was important because she's a water dragon. i'm just gasping here like: 'omg THE SOUP! '

I’d say unity. The whole point of the film is to unite the nations back into kumandra. Also it seems while her siblings could only use one power, she could use all of her siblings powers when she came in touch with the stone.
That sounds really interesting and most of the theories makes sense but... that part when you said Sisu was a water dragon. That's actually a true but her siblings were water dragons too and the other dragons. All of them are water dragons so this theory really doesn't make sense. And the powers she got were actually from her siblings when they made the dragon stone. I hope my comment makes sense and it wasn't a misunderstanding. But a very nice video!

But maybe it wasn't enough because they were close while Raya, Namaari and others from other part of the world weren't close till they started to "saving" a world. And with that water dissappearing after Sisu got shot? She was the last dragon because every dragon turned to the stone. So dragons actually were protecting human even they weren't able to move. I have a better theory. It’s because Sisu was the weakest dragon. The dragons infusing their power into the crystal sealed their fate turning them to stone thus unable to use the crystal. By entrusting Sisu to carry out the task the other dragons could make the crystal as powerful as possible. It’s important to mention that the story was centered around the message of trust.
When you started talking about Naga, you completely lost me. You did all this research, but didn't even bother looking into dragon lore. Water disapeard because the last dragon died. It is not specifically Sisu who's death means no water in Kumandra. And the water returned BEFORE dragons revived Sisu.
I think it was about trust. That because Sisu's siblings trusted her they were able to banish the Drune. The Drune feed off of chaos and discord and by trusting someone you show peace. That's why they had to trust Namaari to stay and save the world. Because if it was any other person they did trust, it wouldn't have worked. Because they showed peace and trust in Namaari and in Sisu, they were able to banish the Drune.
This movie taught a very negative lesson in the end. The villain girl gaslights Raya and Raya falls for it and feels guilty. She has to try to trust the person who abused her in the past, multiple times, without any evidence of that person actually changing. Terrible lesson.
@SolidarityGraphicsYT

I think you're looking at it all wrong. Firstly, Raya and Namaari only met once prior to the events of the movie. Namaari betrayed her, but I wouldn't necessarily call that abuse. Namaari was the antagonist, yes. But she was following orders -- doing what she thought would help her people. Her mom influenced her and groomed her to be selfish and put Fang above all. But by Raya taking the first step and offering trust, she proved that being selfish isn't the way to help the world. Trusting each other and working together is what saved everyone. Namaari clearly had an arc throughout the movie. When she met Sisu, you could see all the doubts she had come crashing to the surface. During the scene just before the crossbow went off, Namaari would have joined the group but Raya didn't trust her. Understandably so since their history wasn't great and Raya was always cautious. But ultimately, I think the message was unity saving humanity. Being selfless and trusting. That everyone has a part to play, no matter how insignificant they may seem.

Their every interaction except when they first met is Namaari trying to hurt Raya or blaming her for what's gone on. She showed no signs of changing to Raya. Gave no plausible reason for Raya to think Namaari wouldn't do as she always had. The audience saw the doubt, but the character who has to learn to trust didn't. All Raya sees is the person who has only ever hurt and lied to her, and now she has to try to trust this person on a vague hope they'll go against all she's ever done in Raya's experience. Agreed to a certain extent. Because it's a movie, we know Namaari's character development and why she does what she does (her mother taught her being two-faced will save her tribe). Do I understand why she acted the way she did? Yes. Did Raya ultimately need to put her trust in Namaari to save the world? Yes, and that was the right thing to do. Because she was pushed to it as there was no other choice. The part where I completely disagree with the movie is where Namaari put part of the blame on Raya for killing Sisu. Yes, Raya played a part in literally pulling the trigger. Were her actions justified? Yes, I do think so! Namaari has proven in the past to be a duplicitous person, and she was literally aiming to shoot while her finger was pulling the trigger. My goodness, pointing a weapon at someone is a serious offense! You are labeling yourself the enemy when you point a weapon at someone. You cannot blame the other person for treating you like an enemy when you are acting like the enemy. I did see Namaari's inner turmoil, and I feel for children who grow up with bad guidance like she did because they often don't know any better. But she had no right to lay any of the blame on Raya. My issue with the movie isn't the lesson. I think the lesson is accurate - just not practical to implement in the real world on a large scale. I just take issue with that one line about Raya sharing the blame. Raya had every reason to mistrust Namaari and try to protect her friends.
The movie was all about trusting your fellow man even when they've given you reason not to. If you return failure with distrust then everyone suffers. She is chosen as the last dragon because they have reason to trust the other dragons more, they had more wisdom and strength after all. They chose to trust the weakest member of their group because putting your life in the hands of someone capable is a trusting act based on logic where as putting your life in the hands of someone who is inadequate is trust based on faith which is stronger which made the magic stronger.

Many of the things in this video are incorrect. Though, Sisu states in the movie that her power is that she is a really strong swimmer. Im pretty sure they just didn't have enough voice actors for the dragons- Not sure.
I think all the dragons are water dragons, i mean they all mostly look like her and have the same abilities like flying by walking on waters droplets. And the movie is inspired by asian culture where dragons are strongly connected to rivers and rains. I think the first one is the relevant. What vainquished the druuns was the will of humanity to trust eachother and unite together, not just the magical gem. As Raya said, it's not jsut about that. And since Droons are monster of evil, greed and selfishness, who better to destroy them than a good, generous and selfless personn?
To me Sisu has what is called Imposter Syndrome and it shows a lot. She is truly powerful and able to pull people together
It looks like all dragons had the power to control water to some extent. Hell, it looked like the reason they could fly was due to them walking on steps made of water. Plus they all have fins, I just think the water stopped due to all dragons going extinct. She probably just got picked for being the best swimmer and most likely to escape out of all of them.
Sisu mentions she’s a really good swimmer, she could’ve been chosen as she can survive in and under water and she literally is water
I always thought her power was being able to use other people’s abilities. Maybe she was the only one of the who would be able to use all four of their powers. I also assumed the water disappeared because ALL the dragons are now gone.
So, basically: 1. Pure Hearted unity 2. Hehe water dragon 3. Hehe water dragon part 2
Caption: 'why sisu's siblings actually picked her to be the last dragon' A third of the video in: we don't actually know for sure why they picked her Me: uhh what? That's why I came here 🤷♀️
So, not just A water dragon, but THE water dragon!
The reason they chose her even if she wasn’t the youngest. She was younger by mind. Meaning, she wasn’t as mature as they where even if she’s older. We can even tell from her actions and personality she’s childish, goofy, pure, sweet, kind, and care free.
Vid: “There are spoilers you have been warned.” Me: *watches every spoiler that exists before I watch a movie.*
My theory is that it requires trust to work. You end wars through trust. I’ve always thought of the drune as the embodiment of war
A lot of these theorys are pretty good but my personal theory is that sisu's ability is to borrow/use the abilities of the other dragons she is close to. She was surprised when she first learned she could do that meaning none of the other dragons could. And just like the video i agree that her ability is that of unity.
The first theory is the only one that held any water at all. For her being a water dragon: ALL the dragons were water dragons. When she died and the water dried up: she was the last living dragon so its not that she was important it was that dragons were important and when she died they were all completely gone. A more likely reason would be that she was the weakest dragon and therefore has the least to contribute to the creation of the gem. So they needed one dragon, any dragon, to stay behind and cast the spell but they needed the most power to make the gem and since Sisu had near 0 power to help create the gem she was chosen to cast the spell instead
4:13 watch the movie it’s the siblings power that she got in the beginning like bruh-
I was about to cry when Sisu dies
Theroy number 2 ignores that most of the dragons when seen at the end are able to manipulate water like Sisu.
Sisu isn't responsible for the water, there just needs to be at least one dragon for all the water to be there, not specifically Sisu.
Sisu having the purest heart is the theory I personally subscribe to for why her siblings chose her because it just makes sense to me
I thought it was going to be, “Sisu didn’t know” - how untrustworthy humans could be. As in, she was just the most trusting of all dragons because she didn’t know any better.

Well, all the dragons were water dragons in this movie😅 am i right it's even said that druuni should represent fire? Reasons 2 and 3 are out, because all of them control water. So it's clear :) she had best heart
the water came before sisus resurection. In fact, sisu (as shown on your video) is resurected from the water, so no, her resurection doesnt bring the water back.

Hmmm, if they’re all water dragons who bring life and water........then what if there other types of dragons? Like fire dragons? Who, like, bring other things? Wisdom, hope, power, destruction, rejuvenating (cuz farmers burn their fields sometimes and rotate fields, and it’s actually helpful), Or even bring the sun and thus light? Moon? Stars? Gravity?Would they be from beyond Kumundra? That’d be a neat 2nd movie (Or even series). The Chinese zodiac has an eastern fire/golden-red dragon, so fire dragons can look similar in style to the water dragons here. Just food for thought
i went right to Disney plus and watched this movie before i finished this KZread video, That was amazing. A favorite of mine for now on.
This movie contradicts itself. For example: they had established that each dragon possesses a special and characteristic ability or power (so characteristic that a dragon could be recognized only by the power or special ability that he possessed). One of the dragons had the power to "walk in the rain" which gave the power to "fly" (this seemed like a great idea to me since it gave another perspective or interpretation to the stories about oriental dragons that can fly without having wings, it was a great idea to run/walk in the air/rain). But at the end of the movie they show you ALL the dragons being able to walk through the air, without even being raining. Just with this, the movie loses internal coherence.

Oh there was a reason? Before watching the video I bet it’s just “she is very friendly and trusting so she’ll find the right people” Even though that really ain’t the case when she just stayed dormant for 100 years and when she came out she became the backstabber of the team even when she wasn’t trying to Heck she even gave the dragon gem to humans
ngl it was like disney compiled all of their cliche lines into one movie, but tbh it was pre cool
Well, no. All of the dragons are water dragons in Raya's Universe. I think the reason why water disappeared once Sisu was killed is because she was the last one, there was no other dragon alive to sustain water on earth. Also, she had absolutely pathetic power compared to other dragons... Soooo her power wouldn't be useful while creating dragon gem. Come on, good swimmer? You can keep it sis. She was also very kind and believed in good in people, regardless of their actions so here I can agree they might have think she's a right candidate. BUT other dragons couldn't predict that the gem will be broken to pieces. The task was super easy. Go back, get the gem that people will definitely happily hand it over to last dragon, activate it and bring other dragons back. How simple is that? They just did not predict that Sisu will be put down to some kind of sleep and could not do anything if not summoned by someone. Sorry but Sisu was the worse dragon of all, still loved and important to her siblings which is cute ❤️
All that power at a young age; it's easy to understand how and why one would be so stressed out.

You're too kind! 💜💜
Do you ever just watch spoilers and all theories, without watching the film and then you're just sittin' there like **interesting**
I dont know if am stupid but i keep trying to find the name of this series or movie and all i can see is its a disney and pixar thing i know i can look it up elsewhere but isnt there a youtube copywrite which states you have to put the name of what this video is taken from
lmaooo I have never heard of this movie before but good video
this became very fast my favorite disney movie. modern disney movie. cause i grew up on cinderella and ariel and beauty and the beast
why is she so fluffy-
I watched that movie a Dozen times all ready.
I watched it and loved it because Daniel Dae Kim voices her dad and I love Johnny Gat from the saints row series
should look into what type of dragon she is, remeder in lore that they were often contected to such things as rivers. suprised he didnt mention it at all in this video
Like I mean I totally agree I didn’t think about those
Basically the sisters thought it's too much work so they ganged up to pick the most obedient one to do it. It just so happens that Sisu is the most obedient one lmao
Walt Disney you've done it again ❤️
I think option 1, because in Asian culture the common idea of dragons are water dragons. So option 2, can be thrown out if that’s true, and I’d say the death of the last dragon, creatures tied to water, would mean water in general is gone.
YO Raya and the last dragon was lite, i mean no romance no songs, just love trust and friendship, Disneys done it again
I dunno… I mean, the first theory is the most plausible by far, but we don’t really know enough about Sisu’s siblings to actually confirm this. I have two other theories: 1) Sisu was chosen because she created the last, and biggest chunk of the gem. Think about it. When the dragon gem was split into 5, it seemed as though it was split unevenly. However, each gem pice gave Sisu a unique power: the power that her siblings held. Heart’s piece was Amba’s magic, Tail’s pice was Pranee’s, Talon’s piece was Jagan’s, and Spine’s was Pengu’s. Which meant that Fang’s piece- the biggest one- must’ve been Sisu’s. So perhaps it was a little to do with that. 2) Namaari and Sisu. Why is nobody talking about this parallel? According to Sisu, she “handed the gem in”. Namaari did the exact same thing, didn’t she? It was Raya and her team that actually went through the process of gathering the gem pieces, but it was Namaari who turned it in. Obviously, the idea they were trying to convey in that scene was that sometimes we trust not because the person is trustworthy, but because we have no other choice (yes, I know it’s from Squid Game and I don’t care). Sisu perhaps was the more fastidious, annoying and unreliable of her group. The loner. The one who didn’t trust as much. The only reason Raya and the rest could guarantee their safety when they gave Namaari the gems was because it wasn’t a question of whether she would give or not, it was a gamble, but they knew that Namaari had no real choice other than to put the gem together. Perhaps the same happened to Sisu, and that was why she was so focused on empowering Namaari. Who knows?
here's a theory shes a water god and her siblings knew this and she didnt so she didnt know how to control her powers and her siblings thought that she would learn how to fully control as time went on and learn how to kill the druin with her powers but instead she got washed away in the river unable to practice her powers so instead it played out how it did. and when she died since she was the water god all the water dried up cause it had no one to no longer obey.
It's because she was filled with trust, so her siblings probably knew that already and realized that could counter the drune
I watched this movie 2 or 1 month ago in a app that let's u watch movies before there release but it so fun
Such a great movie 🍿 ❤️🔥
Raya and the Last dragon is one of my favorite movies and the 3rd theory made soooo much sense that when she died all water disapeared too and there would be no life i was like sooo amazed🤩
Three type of comments I’m seeing 1. “I have another theory....” 2. “All the dragons are water dragons not just Sisu” 3. “Sisu isn’t the youngest Amba is”
Yea,I heard that too
@ *Deluxe,* this is the first of the videos I have seen from your channel and OMG. I _LOVED_ how informative this was. I am honestly quite_SHOCKED_ at the fact that (as of now) you only have 494 subscribers?!?! You sound like an old pro in your speech, and the video editing itself is SUPERB. I just subscribed and am looking forward to exploring the rest of your channel! ❤️
Sisu's Quirk is One For All.
This greatly angers me. She’s not the youngest and they’re all water dragons. The water leaves with Sishu bc she’s the last water dragon, and it comes back with the dragons.
It is one of the best diney moves out there.
The movie was so good doe, when I use to be in primary, me and my class went to go to a trip and we saw it 😝
I think Sisu was chosen because she did not have a power like her sisters, she might had been the only one who could use her sibling abilities together and that might had been her power. As why the water dissapearred when she died is because nobody held her sisters powers anymore so the existence of her sister (water dragon) made the water possible to exist with her power. I never thought of otherwise I thought this was more logical lol.. but we will never know
