Honestly detachables are a must have if you have a lot of clients or you do a high number of clients everyday. Time is money in our industry and although they can be pricey. The time they save you makes it up 100%. I use detachables just to establish hair length for my haircuts. So it knocks out bulk in 2 passes and then your hair length is established and you can begin fading. Because they cut so even and tight it makes it easier to fade into that hair length than if you used a adjustable clipper. Personally i use only a 2 blade or 3.5 blade. 2 blade is like a 1.5 closed on guards and 3.5 is like a 2 guard halfway open. The way the octane is shaped and the blades make it super quick and easy to create shape for the haircut which saves time also when you go to clipper over comb or scissor over comb into the top.

Ive use an Oster detachable 30 years and I've never went wrong with them, preached to my students that the plastic guards for beginner's you have to start with the blade system‼️ and you would never even use the plastic

Agreed that’s whalers I’m at with is I prefer the detachable to establish a length and sometimes set in a line for a low fade quickly and fade everything together with the adjustables 🔥

Good video. I have 2 detachable clippers--76ers & outlaws. Outlaws run hot quick too. The octane is tight👌... just pricey.

This clipper looks the one worth spending $$$ for a regular home use too, no more separate beard, body shavers, no more barbershops just cutting all by urself.

Just an FYI, I don’t think the speed of cut has anything to do with the difference in motors between detachable and adjustable blade clippers. They make adjustable blade clippers with all the same types of motors: electromagnetic, rotary, and pivot. So I don’t think “TYPE” of motor is the difference...maybe they put in a stronger version of the same type of motor...maybe, but I doubt it. Why would Oster use two different rotary motors for their high end clippers...from a production standpoint it doesn’t make sense. The difference in speed has to be in the blades, or the blade arm attachment design.

I am in barber school and all my teachers use the detachable clippers mostly and say it is a cleaner and faster cut so all the information you stated is kind of irrelevant I have never seen my instructors have to go over waves with another clipper when using the Detachable. with the guards you always have to and I know this because I have waves

@@DreGetITIN but he's right. It's in the blades. Guards don't grab enough hair to cut. You're not wrong either. But additional information is never irrelevant.

How loud are they compared to a foil razor?

  • @Mike-hy8cs

I would say if you keep them oiled and greased its about as loud as an andis foil shaver but a more pleasant sound. It sounds like a classic car engine which i love but it is loud in a sense. But if you use it the way i use it which is only for about 30seconds to a minute of the actual haircut. Nobody will care except maybe small kids might get scared thats about it though. If you have music playing at a decent lvl at the shop it wont sound loud or anything.
