Well it sounds like the neighborly thing to do would be at least to stop supporting them in their utterly horrific ongoing murder and misery spree in Yemen.. good God, that might even synchronize our moral outrage against the invasion of Ukraine, I mean it's a little out of sync it's a little laggy.. but that would at least you know just maybe not for the reasons entirely we should but, definitely would be the right thing to do.. and if the money works you know, that's usually when the right thing might end up you know getting some sort of semblance of troglodyte version of itself showing up.. Saudi Arabia is toxic to the core, as the wahhabi section of Islam has been to Islam as a whole.. and the only reason that hyper extremist fundamentalist distortion of one of the largest faiths got so much clout is because we just kept giving them money to spread it around and legitimize it... Step one be just you know stop giving the money.. just in general, both for our actual security interests not monetary.. and then you know step two would be probably I don't know stop wholesale supporting genocide which you know we shouldn't have done in the first place should have could have would have though you know I'll take what I can get when it happens if it happens. @@Taskandpurpose just some constructive criticism, but in your dejan beric interview I felt that your personal bias got in the way and ruined what could have been an otherwise excellent interview. If you’re going to interview someone for the reason that they show the opposite side of the coin then why act shocked and argue with the man? At that point it’s moving from an interview to a debate and adding tension and awkwardness. You did a good job asking questions but I didn’t appreciate you attacking what seemed like a very reasonable perspective to me. If you saw what he saw in Serbia would you really be a huge NATO fan? Your values and viewpoints are not universal and people on the other side of the world are not obligated to abide by them. Throughout the millennia of recorded history probably >90% of governments were what you would call “authoritarian” so you shouldn’t be shocked when you meet people who aren’t cheerleaders for western democratic values. Not every man can be a NATO “freedom fighter” at the end of the day we will always have an enemy. Also found it strange when you cashed doubt on his farthest shot. Canadian sniper hit over 1000m farther than he claimed and even a Ukrainian sniper claims a farther kill than him. Idk if you were being sarcastic but the distance wasn’t unbelievable. He is a major, and considered a legend, so I’m assuming there’s a good reason why.

@@Chris-df1zr I don’t know, pretending there are 2 sides to every argument is a false premise. Sometimes there is one evidence supported side & one not worth giving any respect to. Sometimes there are 4 or 5 valid ones. And ‘it used to be like X’ is not really an argument for anything besides ‘history is a carnival of errors.’ Slavery was the norm until this century (just didn’t always carry that name). I don’t object to your individual criticisms, but maybe mind your own biases as well.

The quote was taken out of context lmao. He was showing his concern that deposing Thieu (the south vietnamese president at the time) would make the world see america in that way. Most us allies have been way more stable domestically than the other choices. One could make the argument that their meddling outside their allies bubble is volatile, but that's unfortunately just reinforce the point.

The Ukraine-Russia conflict being viewed as a "complicated European conflict that does not require to stand against and/or cut ties with Russia" is actually a relatively common perspective in many countries outside the Western spheres of influence; i.e. the classic "third world countries" (where first world = NATO and second world = USSR/Russia).

The conflict started with the fall of the USSR and it is ongoing for more than 30 years with different degrees of intensity. I guess you mean the last escalation that led to the Armenia-backed Nagorno-Karabakh region losing a solid chink of their territory. So this conflict is one more brilliant example of the Realpolitik in the world. Months earlier, after a series of US State Dept backed and organized "protests" (follow the money) and new government, led by Nikola Pashinian has been formed. That new government with talibanish vigor rushed to cut all ties with Russia - more or less following the scenario that unfolded after the the coup in Ukraine in 2014. Now, the differences here are that Azerbaijan is tightly connected with Russia too and as well - backed by Turkey that is a historical enemy of Armenia. Another important point is the status of Nagorno-Karabakh. It has been recognized as occupied Azeri region by UN. Third, on paper is independent state - not part of Armenia, so Russia had no legal ground to interfere as Azerbaijan has not attacked Armenia, but a backed by it separatist region. In fact, the state senates of California, Maine, Massachusetts, Hawaii, Rod-Island, Louisiana, Georgia and Michigan have voted and accepted resolutions that were sent to the POTUS and the Congress to acknowledge the independence of NGR. So, when the conflict intensified, it was in fact USA and its vassals from EU that ditched its muppet in Erevan like an used condom as the backing up Armenia would place them in conflict with Turkey (a NATO member) over a military allied with Russia country. Two weeks later, Russia interfered by getting the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Moscow and the conflict deescalated. Overall, this conflict is another brilliant example of the diplomatic incompetence of the latest US administrations. maybe it is time for you to reintroduce "competence" as hiring criteria with priority over skin color, gender and political alignment.

This video is all over the place with your references this time around, Cappy. You talk about 3-D chess, and you can't even show Spock playing it? o_O Insinuating the Russians have advanced M-270 MLRS batteries, when what they really have are are the TOS-1 and BM-21 Grad?

Another interesting and good video. But to be fair, you could have included a chart with the oil price. It indeed skyrocketed in the early war period. But then it decreased, even hitting a level lower than pre war. THIS was the moment, the Saudis cut production of oil to stabilise their income. Actually pretty simple.

I agree BUT he still sees things in a very US way, for example: 'Saudi funds terrorosim'. Yep that's true. But so does the USA - *even against its allies* (Until 20 years or so back most of the funds the IRA received to fight the Brits with came from the US, particularly Boston area. & 'Saudi's working with Russia for mutual benefit on Oil Prices'. Yep that's true too. But SAudi ISN'T *buying Russian Oil* - The US still buys loads of it 'though. So yes, Mr C is right - It IS *all Realpolitik* or *doublespeak* to you & me.

I like the style, though there is much oversimplifying here, so the videos can hardly be called informative, rather entertaining. I really wish the US would do something about its horrific human rights problems. The largest prison population in the world. Poorly trained police that shoots civilians at an alarming rate. Racism. In many ways, India is also following the same path that the Saudis are taking: domestic interests first, international interests second. Unfortunately, too many people in the Washington Beltway don't seem to understand this, and seem to think that the world still revolves around American interests, circa pre-1991. The United States economic and energy policies need to be flexible enough to adjust when our so-called "allies" abroad have agendas that can affect the USA domestically.

It would collapse the saudi dictatorship, something the usa does not want. And with it severely damage the arms industry. Something the usa also does not want. And it would have no more reason to be in saudi arabia, something the usa also does not want. Plus, north american oil is far to expensive and poluting to activly persue. Opec would lower prices, making the usa economicly uncompetitive with the rest of the world which would have massive impact on the domestic economy.

The only real way to do that would be to nationalize the oil industry so we could make sure it's used in North America before being exported. Also, most of our North American oil reserves aren't the thin "sweet" crude that the middle east has. Their oil is thinner so it's easier to refine & ours is thicker & harder to refine. Also that's not even touching on the fact we wouldn't have near enough refineries. We've slowed down or basically stopped building refineries in America for the last few decades bcuz of the environmental impact. Our government basically decided to let other countries trash their environments instead of ours. This whole issue is ridiculously complicated

When I a kid in the ‘70s, my family and I lived in Saudi Arabia. We were there during the Iranian revolution. Soon after it happened, one of the features that we would see on the way to the beach were anti-aircraft batteries. Socially, the government tightened down on “immoral” activity and enforced such things as shutting down stores during call to prayer, no public eating or drinking at daytime during Rhamadan and disallowing “pagan” practices like hanging Christmas lights and decorations. It’s like they were in a holier than thou contest with Iran.

They began what’s known as the “Sahwa Movement” which culminated in extreme social and religious conservatism and even extremism in some cases. It must also be pointed out that all oil is not created equal as well. Russia and Venezuela are the most important oil countries when it comes to diesel production. Now basically most logistics runs on diesel. This is why when the war started the US approached hed Venezuela about getting oil, despite bullying Venezuela and treating it like shit for the last 25 years. There should be no surprise that more neutral countries might want to back the Russians. Diesel is the oil product that makes the world go round and Russia is a prime diesel manufacturer.

It would be a lot smarter to buy oil for hundreds of years, and then when things get tight, or there are political problem, we still have our reserves. Small thing you missed, The Saudi government has had complete ownership of the largest oil refinery in the United States, which is Motiva’s refinery in Port Arthur, Texas, since May 2017. As well as major oil industry everywhere including Canada.
