Why Revolvers Are Better Than Semi-Automatic Handguns..?
Do you sometimes wonder why some folks still swear by their trusty revolvers in a world where semi-automatic handguns seem to be everywhere? It's like preferring a classic vinyl record over the latest streaming tunes. There’s just something timeless and appealing about a good ol' revolver that goes beyond nostalgia.
Think about it: in a world crammed with gadgets and gizmos, a revolver is like that no fuss tool in your shed that never lets you down. It's the down-to-earth, reliable buddy in the world of firearms. Sure, semi-autos get all the hype with their fancy features and extra rounds, but when push comes to shove, sometimes, less is more.
So, why do some folks choose to stick with the revolver, a design that’s been around since Wyatt Earp’s heyday? It's not just about keeping things old school. Revolvers offer some real-deal benefits that can make a big difference, especially when you need them most.
Let’s take a step back from the high-tech hype and explore why choosing a revolver isn’t just a nod to the past - in certain situations, it might be one of the smartest choices for today's gun owners.

it can give you botulism too. Just ask the feds who got shot up in miami, when they outnumbered a guy who had just ONE arm and a bullet thru one lung. He was a dead man walking, couldn't use one arm or his peep sights, was outnumbered, 8 to 1. and he still killed 2 and wounded 5 more. had it been shtf, those 5 would have died, too. His partner fired only one shot, hit nobody and was a gutless burden.

From my humble point of view on Revolver’s vs Semiautomatics is that the “hammer less” model’s of revolver’s can be shot from concealment (like a pocket or a purse) so you do not have to prematurely exposing your weapon, especially if it turns out to be a false alarm. Ie you have the ability to be ready to execute self defence without alarming or causing an unwanted situation.

Have you tried this in live fire? The ranges I know of have rules against this. I mention it because I advise "try before you buy" and do so under safe condition. Some shooting ranges prohibit shooting from the hip for safety reasons. There is also a technique o shooting from a bag or box. Sometimes the muzzle flash will cause the pocket or other container to smolder. Watch out for the cylinder gap flash--with a powerful cartridge, this flash can slice through cloth and flesh. In other words, use appropriate techniques. A semiautomatic will probably jam on the first or second shot, but you can get off one shot.
Average self defence shooting is 3 shots or less at about 7 yards or less. Bottom line; revolvers are good enough and reliable.
@PedroBrando

The 3 by 3 rule is 3 shots at an average of 3 yards within 3 seconds, covers 90% of self defense shootings. The citizen is not required to arrest an attacker, unlike police. The citizen only has to stay alive.
Revolvers don't spew evidence all over the area.

My experience as a military armorer and small arms instructor is at odds with the factors mentioned here. I have cleaned 120 Beretta 9mm pistols during a single shift. Revolvers have more parts and those parts are less robust than semiautomatics--the delicate magazines are easier to replace than a bent revolver crane. Training to standard with revolvers takes longer and more practice ammunition in my experience. I have to admit, however, that compared to military vehicles the gas-operated belt-fed machine gun is a simple device.

I strongly disagree. Solid revolvers like S&Ws and Rugers are virtually bullet proof. As an 11C, 18B, 18F I carried and used Berettas all over the World. In training I shot the bejesus out of them and many other autos as well. I have seen virtually everything that can go wrong with both. There is no question that a well made revolver is more reliable than a semi-auto.

@@cvr527 Everybody's got an opinion. The information I have on Smith and Wesson Model 10 and Model 15 revolvers is that they required more frequent overhaul than did the M1911A1 pistols in Air Force and Army service, and both Colt and S&W revolvers in police service had service lives of between 6000 and 12,000 rounds before no longer economical to repair. Many law enforcement officers carried the same revolver for decades, but during the last ten or fifteen years their revolvers were seldom shot and sometimes left in a locker or desk drawer because senior personnel up to the 1990's didn't have to pound a beat or qualify annually. Prior to World War Two, some police agencies still didn't require attending a police academy or annual revolver qualification. Check all the special deputies in the 1946 Battle of Athens, Tennessee--quite a few of those thugs with badges had no police training.

Why use a gun that isn't made? Good information but you lose credibility when you try the click bait route.
Can be fired when in direct contact (can't be pushed out of battery). Can be fired reliably from inside a jacket pocket, purse, or bag.

Be sure to shout "RELOAD" so they stop shooting at you while you reload.
Jesse demonstrated the old Revolver concealed in the Coat Pocket sneak attack technique in "El Camino".
Cleaning any revolver takes 3 times longer than cleaning any automatic. It's also takes 10 times more patches and solvent and makes 10 times the mess. Personal experience.

bs, they get short-stroked/skip a chamber all of the time and the heavy trigger pull and torque cause lots of MISSES. Misfires are many times more likely with a DA pull than a cocked and locked SA-only auto, because the primer is hit much less decisively and you run out of ammo really quickly. Ask the Feds who got shot up in Miami vs platt, cause they ran out of ammo.

Revolvers are, hands-down, better in every way mentioned here. The downsides across from automatics are 1) width when considering as a CC option, 2) reload time, and 3) round capacity. Nothing to be done about the first two, but honestly, if you need more than 6 rounds to settle a predicament then you are probably in a disadvantaged situation where 15 rounds may also not cut it. That, by the way is the main reason people buy automatics. Shoot accurately - spraying leads to praying.

It's about shot placement. You only need one high pressure round to do the job. You will not panic fire or do a mag dump. Having 17+ rounds isn't necessarily an advantage when you come across a trained shooter. No jams here

I was a cop way back in the day when we carried revolvers on duty. It is what I am comfortable with. I still EDC a Taurus .357 magnum revolver. It may only have 6 rounds, but a jacketed 158gr hollow point will basically make people explode. kzread.info6xIj8BQQZI8?si=RlClqsZIKrtCan2z
Yet another clickbait video. You're blocked!!
He forgot the fact that semi automatics can get knocked out of battery in a struggle and not fire when you pull the trigger. Revolvers can’t.
I can agree with you claim on the maintenance of side arms BUT as far as self defense is concerned you'd be good to go with your 6-gun UNLESS your fixin to face off with 7+ attackers and you left your speedy loader at home so now ask yourself "how fast can i run ?" Buy cheap semi-auto's and open yourself up to these problems and same goes for cheap revolvers. Am i wrong ?
