Why Rabat The Capital of Morocco SHOCKED Me 🇲🇦(POLICE made me leave) is a video where I travel to Morocco in 2022. In this video, I will show you around the beautiful country of Morocco, specifically the city of Rabat in Morocco. We meet some of the friendliest people on our journey here in Rabat and eat at some of my incredible restaurants in Rabat. When you're visiting Morocco be sure to visit Rabat in Morocco. It was unfortunate at how our trip in Rabat ended, as nobody should have to be made feel the way we did, watch till the end to find out what happened.

The decision stipulates that personal photography of Egyptians and foreigners residing and tourists in public places in the Republic is permitted in accordance with a number of controls established therein, without requiring obtaining permits or paying fees, using all types of traditional and digital photography cameras as well as personal video cameras and tripods for these cameras. It also prohibited the use of equipment that would occupy public roads or professional photography equipment such as photography umbrellas and external industrial lighting means in personal photography except after obtaining a prior permit, in accordance with the laws and regulations regulating this.

Thank you for your explanation, Saad. There were people filming but with iPhones. There were no warning signs whatsoever, so it seemed a bit extreme to be calling major and putting us in a sense of “danger” for doing something very wrong… A simple warning would have been sufficient. But like Yad said, totally not put us off Morocco, we absolutely loved it, just a shame we couldn’t capture Rabat.

When you enter a store and buy from him while filming the seller, he will not charge you much because he is afraid that you will publish the video. There are committees in Morocco that monitor prices for tourists so as not to harm the sector. And I think that the price of the shirt is reasonable and it is of economic quality... As for filming in some places, there are controls, especially if you carry a professional camera... Beautiful videos Yad!!! I think what happened with you filming is just because Rabat is mainly a Government city and lots of embassies & gov buildings there thats why you’ll see the tight security just like if you go to Washington DC or something!!! A big camera with a microphone will always put you in uncomfortable situations no matter where you go really that’s why it’s always best to vlog with your iPhone sometimes :) the permission is because usually they think you work for a TV channel or doing a TV documentary or something witch requires a permit to film

As for the artistic morrocan inspiration, it is avery old history as old as the old stat of morroco more than 12 centries. the country was always a terminus for many people arriving from the east, north and south, and this artistic fiber is due to this mixture of cultures that made the Moroccan a builder.

One Moroccan big KZread vlogger got arrested and held for 5 hours in interrogation in Rabat , speaks Moroccan and knows his rights and what to film etc… and they never gave him a logical reason , he was grilled by many police officers , yelling at him intimidating him , and finally they let him go . His testimonial was heartbreaking and he expressed true disgust towards the authorities who behaved that way . I think they were fishing for money which he refused to give .

It seems that your presence in Rabat, coincided with one of the cases of security alert that precedes an important political event, such as the visit of senior officials from foreign countries . In such cases, especially in the capital, Police officers are usually more stringent in enforcing the law! Generally speaking, photographs and video from mobile devices are allowed in any public place in Morocco. However, for video on professional and semi-professional devices, a prior license from CCM (Moroccan Centre for Cinematography) is required.

Thank you for sharing, that is totally understandable and i have no issues with obtaining a certain license if required. The issue in this situation was the way it was handled and they way they make a tourist/person feel is not the best.

@@YadVenturess Be absolutely certain, what that officer did was anomalous and isolated behavior. In Morocco, such behavior can only come from a beginner and inexperienced officer who is also scolded more severe than that by his superiors 😁 Any way, Accidents can happen anytime and anywhere. and we are very sorry for what happened to you! I hope you have a more enjoyable trip to forget that bad luck.

Thank you for sharing, this makes sense. It just feels that picking an Arab looking man from the crowd was a bit biased, everyone was taking videos there… We were held at a point whilst major was “deciding our destiny” all of which just seemed a bit off. But like you say, all’s well that ends well. Things happen everywhere. And no, it didn’t put us off at all, we still love Morocco, just learned to be more vigilant when it comes to camera in certain places. 😊

@@dacedaine822 Thank you very much for the good work you are doing and it's nice to keep your positive spirit 😀 about the CCM filming license, unfortunately, at the present time it's not given to individuals ! but only to channels, media companies and production companies...🙄 Amending the laws to include Individuals (KZreadrs) as well, is still a pending project in Parliament ! In the meantime, KZreadrs use high-quality mobile phones to film in places where the use of professional devices is prohibited😉

Hi Fouad, apparently filming with your phone is fine. We had a professional camera with a microphone which triggered the undercover police. There were no warning signs about filming not being allowed, so such drastic approach with us held at a point and having to wait for major’s decision on what will happen to us was a bit unwarranted. A simple warning would have sufficed.

@@dacedaine822 it's for political reasons. We still have issues with the neighbouring country (Algeria arming a separatist group) over our southern provinces (they basically want a vassal state to get access to the Atlantic, we also had issues regarding borders after the independance so the best way to make us forget about it? Get more from our own territory and it's working for now). So as a tourist, you're either getting here "visa free" (US and UK and Schengen Space in Europe, Japan and some other developped countries), or with a tourist visa (from other developped country, or the rest of the world). This means personal visits. Using cameras and mics, even fir vlogging in some specific places, can be seen as a "professionnal presence" and this requires another type of visa... those who have it have already filled the purpose of the visit, the places they want to film, etc and they're not bothered by the way, because police already knows about them... for the rest of individuals? It will raise suspicions and they will be more likely to intervene.

Using a professional camera and if this specialty coincides with a special event, you will need an authorisation ! Btw Morocco is not only about medinas. Salam alaikum my friend, Meh, don't take it personally. There are certain areas where filming is sometimes randomly forbidden for mysterious reasons. There are some people who want to exert authority and assert their insecurity into other people's business. Props for the patience. Otherwise, Moroccan people can be extremely welcoming. I speak objectively even though I'm a moroccan myself, but I have my bad days as well and I represent myself. Wherever your journey takes you, enjoy yourselves.
