As a Dutchie myself I've never heard of Queen Cocktail. What I do know is that her father was was called 'Prins Pils' (prince beer) because he liked one just as the rest of us. Her mother was called 'Princess Airmiles' now Queen Airmiles because of her frequent flying. FYI: Crown Princess Amalia DID refuse the 1.5 million but: the King and Queen had another plan. They said gimme, gimme, gimme in her name and put it in a trust fund. So we Dutch taxpayers still had to cough up the money... 🤑 It was not Amalia's fault. The Dutch King and Queen have made themselves very unpopular with this action. Less than half of the Dutchies aprove of their actions now. So, Amalia is our hope now. We love her! She looks more like her great- grandmother, Juliana, the most beloved Queen of The Netherlands.

About the money: nope, not true. Since her 18th birthday the money she receives (part of it is salary and part of it is money that she can use for things like security etc) is being transferred back to state funds. Don’t know where you got the gossip from that it’s in a trust fund?

Regarding her cutting her student life short: there was no vague threat by some nutjobs but a very credible one by people involved with one of the biggest and brutal crime lords we ever had to deal with: Ridouan Taghi. Look him up and especially the trail of dead people he left behind even after he already was apprehended. For instance the biggest crime reporter Peter R. De Vries was assassinated on his behalf in broad daylight when he left a tv studio in Amsterdam. So, the threat was really considerable one.

Indeed they are human like everybody else. That reminds me. I was in front of a crowd during a Dorothea Pesch concert. Rock/metal queen and world famous. I was quite loudly singing along with one her older songs from the warlock period and she saw that. So she quit the song to invite me on stage sing it with her. Thats not what I expected when i woke up that morning.

Hah, if you like her, you definitely would have liked her great grandmother, former queen Juliana. She was really the queen of the people. There are numerous stories about how she sneaked out of the palace to mingle between the people (for example she would love to leave the palace grounds at the North exit, walk towards the groups of tourists in front the fences, who hoped to catch a glimpse of some royals, and then asked them if they allready saw the queen/princess, and after that sneaked back to the grounds through the south entrance without anybody noticing she was among them. And when I was a teenager, and she allready an elderly lady, I walked through my hometown and saw some men in suits and earpieces in an alley looking towards a shoe store (De Schoenenreus, voor de Nederlanders die deze winkel nog kennen) and when I followed his view I saw Juliana together with an other lady standing in front of the child section. Or the story of a British comedian scheduled to perform in the local theatre in Baarn, and early on the day bumping in to a nice old lady a the local bakery, who to his surprise could speak amazing English (due to her stay in Canada during the war she told). So he invited her to his show in the evening, without knowing who she was, until she actually arrived at the theatre in the evening, with a security detail of course.

It runs in the family; the tendency to escape protocol. Queen Wilhelmina (mother of Queen Juliana for non-dutchies) was notorious for sneaking out of the 't Loo palace to go biking. The children of Queen Beatrix all attained regular schools on their bikes and trying to ditch security. They were said to be a nightmare for the security personnel. I myself actually bumped into Queen Beatrix and the Duchess of Luxembourg out shopping in Utrecht, we shook hands and shared a few words before I was led out of the way by men with earplugs ... I think most members of the dutch royal family actually would rather live a normal life ...

Haha wow! Did not know that about Wilhelmina. And yeah I know indeed that the children of Beatrix attended De NBS in Baarn and that both Willem-Alexander and Friso attended the same highschool my sister was later on. And haha yeah I was also once pushed away by men with earplugs when I wanted to enter the stairwell at my university, and before I could ask what was going on, the then still prince Willem-Alexander passed me by and waved in a way of almost apologising for the inconvenience.

Americans:" Kingdom is bad" (Not so much you Highly :) ) You see, a Kingdom can be a bad or a good thing. What many people from "non monarchal" countries (and I am sorry.... ESPECIALLY Americans) fail to realise is that the Kingdom of the Netherlands is there because the Dutch CHOSE to have a King(dom), we were not forced into it. Every once in a while, there is a national poll held... do we still want to remain a Kingdom. Every time, 6 out of 10 at least says yes. This Majority has been constant because we had Queens like Juliana and Beatrix, a King like Wilem Alexander and the prospect of Queen Amalia. Do they cost a shitload of money and do they have priviliges others don't have... yeah. Tell me... what do your Presidents cost? And wasn't there a lawyer argumenting just two days ago with SCOTUS that a certain former President should be imune when commiting treason? Guess what, our King is not immune, heck.. our King has less power when it comes to "ruling a country" than your President or the PM from England, or Germany. An Absoulte Monarchy..... generally a bad thing... a constitutional Monarchy that isn't English... No issues at all (I think Scandinavians have similar feelings towards their Royals)

It's not that uncommon for the Dutch royals. All the princesses went to a public school, and so did the king when he was a kid. You can bet that while they are cycling there are some unmarked cars with tinted windows driving nearby though. And it's not just security that keeps them back, but also the press. Her sister had photos leaked from social media where she was drunk and kind of scantily clad at a party, which the media turned into a whole scandal. It's one of the reasons why they often study abroad; to be somewhat anonymous.

Personally I don't believe in a monarchy. Come on we're living in 2024. And yes I'm Dutch but this video ain't right at all. Our royal family is completely disconnected from us ordinary people. She lives her life just as anyone else does but just because she is born in a so called royal bloodline she should have all kind of benefits other "ordinary" people don't have. Hierarchy is never ok.
