A big piece they need to add. Better hourly pay. Most controls engineers i know make less than me yearly but like 15% less for 60% less hours

Hvac tech here. How do I get training and start doing this? Is hvac the right field?

The HVAC industry generally doesn't use PLCs but does in some cases. You might look more into Building Automation training such as at smartbuildingsacademy.com

@jamesberry365 The Hvac industry doesn't usually use plc. A DDC (direct digital control )uses on most applications and Internet access to field devices. You can find free videos on KZread. Take a look and think about it.
