I play Solo mostly because I don't have any friends who also plays ESO. I have a brother who is sometimes playing, so I'll play with him whenever he come online. But it is also ver convenient to play solo as I don't have to take other players into account and can play the way I want.

It's the same for me. None of my friends still play ESO, we started with a group of 7, I was the only one who kept playing. Most of the group content that I do, I do either via the Dungeon Finder or chat guilds.

Honestly, ESO has a pretty solid set of story quests that are engaging and don't require a group. If you don't like waiting on someone to help with world bosses, a solo build isn't that hard to build. The game gives you options on how to play.

As I've said before, I came over from Skyrim for the exploration factor., but I literally started with Beta. I tried it, didn't like it much, went back to Skyrim . After One Tamriel, I came back and played off and on. About the time Summerset hit, I got more interested in group content and PvP... up to leading PvP groups and vTrial Healing for Trifecta runs. At the end of 2022, something in my head just snapped and I decided I had enough of wrangling cats and arguing with stupid. 20 plus yrs in retail, most of that management of some kind, I just had enough of people. ESO allows for that, I can solo to my hearts content and just chill. I can help new players if I want, or do group... or anything. Would I want a live server, single player RPG? If it checked all my boxes, sure. Would I pay for cosmetics in it? That's a tricksey question.... So my answer is, that depends. All games have to have some way for the developers to make money. Ya gotta eat, ya Know? Just like ESOs cash shop, I'd prefer Pay-for-cosmetics and choice items ( housing) than Pay-To-Win items. . I don't DO flashy glowy mounts, or over the top looking armor. Most of my Sub crowns ( when I sub) go towards music boxes or costumes. But I do, judiciously, buy housing items. Example, the Snowy Trees, they make excellent Chritmas Trees. I refuse to spend RL money on the actual house though.

I'd love ESO to have some sort of "Overland Tier Levels" in game. Something similar to what we have in games such as Outriders, Genshin Impact, Diablo and so on. I believe that those tiers should be unlockable and bring better rewards for every next tier. In addition final tiers / the hardest tiers should be unlocked via some sort of achievements ONLY obtained via grouped content. This grouped achievement requirement would also make sure MMO part of ESO isn't gone and would also work as a bridge into an MMO for Solo players. At the same time people who want to play ESO as SP game can feel a meaningful time investment into such type of activity by getting better rewards for doing content in a harder manner than previously because of tiers system that is controlled by every player individually for their level of skill. In addition if you want to push MMO aspect even more - the game could have some sort of buff system that gives much better rewards in Solo play BUT to receive such buff you MUST participate in X amount of grouped content per day/week. This would motivate TES fans to play the game the way they want (SP) but experience grouped content more frequently!

Answer: Cause that's the way I like it! The other reason is that it is the only new Elder Scrolls content available till ES 6 comes out (if it ever does). I prefer single player games and games like Oblivion and Skyrim. Problem is that there is no current single player Elder Scrolls content available. One can only play Skyrim so many times (even with mods) before you get burned out.

--"Why do you play solo in an MMO?"-- -Well friend, when I first started playing it was because dealing with others is exhausting and I knew that my build was sub-meta (which in my mind translated to "not good enough"). In not wanting to deal with yet another toxic gamer or be a burden or get carried by others, I just quested and there were always more quests to do -I felt like a burden in group content until I was CP500 and even then I was still a burden, I was just more confident (I self-taught myself rotations and builds so I was a late bloomer on buildcrafting) -I came to ESO from Defiance and Destiny, both of which were essentially solo MMOs that emphasized overland gameplay. I started ESO because I wanted that solo MMO feel (seeing other players makes the world feel alive) while still in the ES universe --What got me doing group content?-- -Gear farming. I wanted the powerful gear but couldn't get it solo, so I geared up for my skill level and went into the game's progression. For me it was Relequen. I wanted to hit those numbers and wasn't going to do that in Hunding's Rage and Briarheart -Finding a user-friendly class (for me it was Templar DPS). Once I felt like I could hit like 50k blindfolded, that was when I felt comfortable in normal DLC dungeons. Being the strongest DPS or the one who remembered mechs gave me more confidence and got me more invested in the game and learning the game -Group content is story content -Group content makes for dynamic experiences. Dreadsail is always the same but no 2 PUGs are the same -Building a character who is able to hit numbers and support the group feels good

ESO has always felt like 80% RPG and 20% MMO, and i love it for it! It's a bit hard to start for people unless they love the IP though.. At least in my opinion, someone who comes to ESO and skips to endgame trials and skips overland questing as much as possible, is playing ESO wrong... but that said, there is no wrong way to play!

MMOs have been dumbed down to the point where you don't need a group to play. When I started playing this type of game, 1999 EQ, you pretty much needed a group to do anything. This caused a lot of down time waiting for groups but it was fun. There are still thing that pretty much require groups in games now but not to the point of back then. Love ESO but if you know what you are doing Veteran dungeons are easy to solo, Groups make them boring and no challenge. ESO needs to add a way to make the overland content tougher if the player wants. A way to toggle overland from easy mode to Veteran.

Because dungeon runs with players is AWFUL. They won't let you look at any thing cool in the dungeon, much less pick up and do the quest(s). Especially won't get the time to listen to the dialouge. They run through the dungeon like hamsters. Thankfully alot of then can be solo'd. Yes, it takes longer. But at least I remember the dungeon instead of a bunch of players on sped.
