Why PAYTON WILSON Was an IMPOSSIBLE PICK for the Steelers (His Insane Rise)

Спорт

A few years ago, Payton was just a small town prospect who had no shot of making it to the NFL. 4 injuries and 6 years later though, Wilson became a superstar linebacker for NC State and despite falling to the 3rd round, the Steelers got a steal. Today, we are going to talk about the impossible rise of Payton Wilson and how all this happened, enjoy!

I watched every game he played at NC State, and he was absolutely dominant! Wherever the ball was, he was there, usually crushing the ball carrier. But if he didnt make the tackle, he was right there about to. He routinely would run from one side of the field to the other to run down ball carriers. He is one of the best defenders I have ever seen, has a massive chip on his shoulder, an insanely hard work ethic high character and hates losing. Expect greatness

I operate a KZread channel talking steelers and I have been saying since before the draft that if Wilson fell to the 2nd or 3rd or maybe beyond he would be the biggest steal of the NFL draft. He has the athletic ability to be super dominant in today’s style of defense in the NFL. The range he has is insane and his strength and willingness to be ultra aggressive is unmatched by any linebacker in this rookie class. Also his injures have not been an issue for several years and I think that maybe he will have a handful of really highly productive years in the NFL.

Interesting prospect. I had to look up his height/weight because he looked a little thin for LB. 230 is ok but at 6-4 it looks a little lean. He must be a hell of player and must have been fun to watch. Those guys that only have one speed (full) are fun to watch. I never got watched an NC State game, would’ve been fun to see.

We can only guess, assume, or predict however I absolutely believe he has as the overall best pick in the draft. Many people don't realize that Hines Ward came into the NFL with no ACL in one of his knees. Look at his career and how aggressively he played. I'm not a sports scientist so idk if your ACL is more important for WR type movement or ILB type. Id guess ILB because of the fact that they have to be able to move in any/all directions without hesitation no matter body position at the time. That being said, WR has to constantly come off the line and fast and make a lot of cuts and plants to get best outta route running. I played ILB as a kid and lateral movement is so important. Another thing is he hasn't had an injury in a lot of play since his shoulder (I believe was the last). I have a lot of faith in the young man and even more hope being an absolute Steelers fan and a fan of no other team, period. Even if he doesn't work out for whatever reason, the pick isn't wrong. The risk and reward are so far from each other that it's worth the gamble. We all know that no matter the skills, success or pedigree of a draft pick... there's no guarantees it'll transition into success in the NFL. I'm 100% in support no matter what and hope he has a great and long career.

As a Saints fan, I was really hoping they'd trade up into the 3rd to pick him up when he made it out of the 2nd round... Sure, they've got Pete Werner, but at some point Demario Davis won't be immortal anymore, and having a 1st-round level talent learning as Davis' heir apparent would have been great. Even if he somehow couldn't beat out Pete Werner to succeed Davis, the 2 of them would have been a force together.
