Despite being seen wielding red lightsabers on numerous occasions, Palpatine hardly relied on them, and instead used his immense power in the ways of the force to strike terror into his opponents, and it was with these abilities that he could quickly bring any fight to a quick end. So, in large part, Palpatine saw the lightsaber as something below him and hated those who relied upon it as a sole source of power. He saw it as a Jedi’s weapon and felt that any true dark lord of the Sith would easily defeat an opponent with dark side force powers, viewing this as a sign of strength and being on the right belief system.
He felt that those among the darksiders who relied on lightsabers were inferior and fooled into abandoning or neglecting the sheer potential they could reach if they focused solely on the force. So deep was his dislike towards lightsabers that he was easily able to master every form of lightsaber combat, teaching them to his apprentice Maul, singlehandedly taking him from never holding a weapon to being a deadly Jedi-killing Sith Assassin. His lightsabers were even designed to mock the Jedi, with the hilts including electrum, a purely aesthetic material which was only authorised to be added to the hilts of high-ranking and immensely respected Jedi Masters. It was therefore extremely rare and one of its few wielders was Mace Windu, yet both of his sabers were decked in electrum, as Palpatine sought even in the subtlest of ways, to mock the history of the weapon and those it came from.

I really loved it that despite his age, Palpatine was quite agile when using Jar’Kai while fighting both Maul and Savage Oppress
I think Palpatine's greatest strength was not his sheer power in the Force, but his natural talents as an opportunist and grooming others to be his unwitting agents. That's what he did to Anakin, building him up over time, and using him at that key moment to defeat Mace. That's the true essence of power. Not your weapons, your physicality, or some magical abilities. True power is control over the minds of others. How you gain and maintain that control is the key to long-term success.
This isn't true, George Lucas has said outright that Mace won fair and square not because Palpatine gave up. That being said obviously Palpatine had a plan for both situations.

im no expert on these things, but Palpatine does say he is too weak after Anakin comes to the rescue, indicating that Palpatine is at his strongest while lookin like a sith?
All this Star Wars content getting me hyped to play Survivor, I am so happy I finally got the game and it was on sale for thirty-five dollars even. What a deal.

If I'm not mistaken, Lucas himself said Windu defeated Palpy fair and square. Don't understand how this lie you stated on the subject is still popular nearly 20 years later.

Ask yourself if anakin still would’ve turned to the dark side if he would’ve seen palpatine about to kill mace windu and not playing victim like he did in revenge of the sith.

@@markscherer3881 Yeah lol, Palpatine would've outright killed Mace Windu, he just played victim as a ploy. Though it's not like it was easy with Mace.
