@@CyrusJanssen you nailed it regarding long term commitments to the the Pakistan region which the US cannot provide, as it is a distant land separated by oceans on both sides. China can provide long term relationships due to proximity alone. Even if the US were to sabotage sino-pak relations, they will just pack up and abandon Pakistan again.

@10:40, Cyrus gives the impression that the extraordinary friendship between China and Pakistan developed only after USA abandoned the Afghan war. Truth be told, the China-Pakistan friendship began 50 years ago and over time the two nations became ‘brothers.’ The completion of China-Pakistan joint venture building the difficult Karakoram Highway over the course of nearly 10 years is a symbol of the trust, commitment, and shared future between the two nations during the past 50 years.

@@MarkYeung1 You said: _"We all know about the history of conflicts between India and Pakistan."_ Many Indians (but not all) suffer from the _"colonial mentality"_ of worshiping Anglo-Saxon culture at the expense to even their own culture. In 1947, the British partitioned British India into two, forming a separate sovereign country Pakistan. India later supported Bangladesh independence from East Pakistan, forming another separate sovereign country. Each division weakens the country, and once separated, the new countries might grow to become a thorn in your side. That's why China fight so hard to hold on to our territories like Tibet, Xinjiang, Hong Kong and Taiwan. China doesn't want to end up like India and Pakistan; blood brothers that share the same history, but because of British partition, result in conflict and bloodshed.

The friendship between China and Pakistan is mutual and longer than the economic ties. Pakistan was the first nation to recognize Communist China and was a friend when China was dirt poor. China appreciates and reciprocates the goodwill and friendship. In fact, both countries regard their friendship as special. China keeps its policy of no interference in domestic politics, but successive rulers in Pakistan of different political leanings maintain the bond with China. As China becomes strong and wealthy, Pakistan benefits more and more and is also happy to be helpful. In Europe, it's Serbia that has a special place in the hearts of the Chinese because of their long friendship and the US brutality they both suffered. The US bombing of the Chinese embassy in Belgrade in 1999 was one of the many US-inflicted wretchedness China had to endure. When President Vucic went to China to appeal for help to combat the Covid pandemic, he touched the Chinese with his love for his people. China immediately sent plane loads of doctors and medical supplies to Serbia. This is another long and ever closer relationship between China and a country regarded as a friend. Africa also receives China's goodwill and help in its development partly because of the common understanding of the colonial oppression. Africans appreciate the respect from the Chinese on both national and personal levels, unlike the attitude of Westerners. Chinese culture places great importance on good relationships and gratitude, seeking to return manifolds what one has received. OTOH, old hurts and sufferings are not easily forgotten. Currently, China treats Japan with courtesy as a trading partner, but if ever a war broke out that Japan participated in, it would suffer revenge for their invasion, slaughters and cruelty inflicted on the Chinese. As it refuses to admit nor apologize for its atrocities, it is not truly forgiven. For the Chinese people, it's very personal. Japan is well aware of the possible consequences even as it takes up anti-China cooperation with the US.

That is exactly why China has preserved all the evidence in its Nanjing museum. That is also why China has never rebuilt Yuan Ming Garden when the French and British troops burnt the Summer Palace to the ground and looted all its treasures. The preservation is for all future Chinese generations to ensure that such atrocities will never be repeated.

@@stevenzechmeister474 If ever China had to deal with Japan and S Korea in a war, US would surely be the main player. Hopefully it won't come to this. US would probably face a financial collapse and a depression soon. It also needs critical supplies from China for its war equipments. As it is, the US military manufacture has serious issues with production capacity. As well, its allies are less and less willing to be the cannon fodder in US planned proxi wars. China is playing the global Go game while the US is playing checker. The US military experts study The Art Of War and confidently predict China's moves in a war, but in reality they are not in the same league strategy wise. While actively and aggressively engaging in spying, propaganda, provocations, and proxi wars, the US was blindsided by the Iran-Iraq peace deal! While the US does its grandstanding, China is setting up the game holistically at different fronts. The US would find themselves late and unprepared for the grand scheme.

And as for as relations with US is concerned , I as a Pakistani do have the opinion that a strong US-Pakistan relation along with China is in the interests of Pakistan because It US that allowed Pakistan to build Nuclear weapons against India when they could have crippled Pakistan's Economy through sanctions as they haver done with Iran and N.Korea. The real reason why China's diplomacy and BRI is successful all over the world is because China treats their partners with the RESPECT of an EQUAL PARTNER and doesn't carry any sort of self-centered hubris when they negotiate. China first asks their partner nations what their partner needs or wants and how they can assist their partner achieve their goals and be SELF-SUFFICIENT. This means knowledge transfer and the creation of local self-sufficient economies that can take over once the construction of the contracted project is completed. This is part of the reason why the African nation of Guinea evicted Australia for breach of contract (regarding iron ore excavation and infrastructure development rights) and handed over that contract to China. Basically, Australia's Rio Tinto dragged their feet and didn't do any infrastructure development in Guinea; the deadline came and Guinea rightfully kicked Australia out of the country and made Australia persona non grata.

One of the main success stories of CPEC is the Gwadar Port. Gwadar has grown to rival Dubai. Millions of tons of cargo is handled daily. The port has become Asia's biggest port in cargo handling capacity, helping pakistan to become the logistics hub of Asia. The Gwadar city has grown to rival many European cities like Paris, London, Copenhagen, etc. This is all due to the visionary foresight of honest Pakistani establishment.

And that’s the reason the USA CIA are active in these countries. The current troubles in Myanmar have the USA funding the anti-government forces. In Thailand the “red shirts” are American backed and in Malaysia, the USA has recently been successful to get their man into office after 19 years of funding and other supports! USA is the warmongering country of the world 😡😡. The world needs Russia and China to win!

Ancient China was the "America" - the go-to place for modernity and wealth, and emigration to a better lifestyle; this integration of China's "melting pot" happened over course of 3,000 years as opposed to the USA which has its integration and "melting pot" for only 300 years, and is undergoing an upheaval 😮

Again hitting the nail on the head.. What you said about the US overlooking countries, China looks at developing countries as an opportunity to gain trading partners, gaining trust, friendship, & China & the other countries prosperity with the BRI is a very good approach.. The US comes calling when they want something, & the rest of the time.. Who knows.. It's like the Chinese saw long before the situation that Is unfolding now & that is the US wants to contain China as much as possible.. This isn't focusing on the issues, & that is their foreign policy will have to be rejigged to gain real friends & trading partners long term.. Yes, the US.. China has a whole long line of countries that would like to partner on a major project at amazing financing rates.. The US has a massive military, yet hasn't figured out to not use it so everyone is a bit weary if they aren't already a big Time friend.. Like the UK, or Canada.. Overall the credibility of China seems way higher than the US now.. & The US hates that anyone could pass them..

As a Paksitani, I must admit that CPEC is really a game changer for China, and Pakistan plays major role in China becoming a major economic power but if Pakistan do not exploit CPEC and China positively as a booster of our economy and continue looking to USA for loans than we are the biggest fools on Earth and nothing will change our lives.

Pakistan has missed on CPEC. The country is in political shambles, on the verge of default, and facing extreme political instability due to last year's US backed regime change operation which deposed elected PM. Today, the country is run by the military and their unelected lackeys. They have postponed the elections indefinitely. Even if they have done so, there is no roadmap as to what they want to do ahead. In such a situation it's very difficult for the country to reap the benefits of this huge investment project.
