This is a great video for me, since I build electric cigar box guitars, and other electric guitars of my own design. I've been thinking of switching to laminated necks on my guitars for the purpose of increased neck strength, as there are no truss rods in cigar box guitar necks. I build my all of CBG necks from red oak (through neck design), and I also tend to make them a little beefy. I have discovered that my beefy oak necks seem to have a nice warm tone, and a noticable amount of sustain. I'm especially interested in your technique of turning the cut pieces to oppose each other to avoid warping and twisting. I use the Gibson style 15 degree scarf joint on my headstocks. Thanks so much for your very well done videos.

Thanks 🙏. Beefy necks are stronger and do give better sustain. It's just a comfort issue where thinner ones excel.

@@yoavbinyamini Yes, you're right. In making the CBG neck a little thicker, it's a fine line between achieving neck strength, tone, sustain, and how comfortable it is to play -- which is essential. With only 3 or 4 strings on the instrument, though, most people don't find it problematic. Thanks, Yoav.
