In my district principals are the big problem. They don't support teachers, and kids get away with everything because they will be passed no matter what

NC beginning teachers get paid the lowest salaries in the county.....A Substitute teacher gets paid $100.00/ per day. Which is the same salary as McDonald's selling hamburgers...😂😂😂😂 I would not work for than money.

No. NO. Noooo. Do not be a teacher in NC. This is what happens right after you retire: Here...HERE is a VERY GOOD reason NC is short of subs...BECAUSE THE VERY PEOPLE RUNNING IT SUCKS BEYOND BELIEF. There are A LOT of teacher retirees that do want to work because living on the piddling amount of school pension (TRS) and pathetic amount of Social Security, we ARE LOSING around $800-900 amount or more monthly. We cannot afford to retire. I am 69. I CAN retire with my years. What's the problem that I cant!!!!??? I have to wait 6 months to even sub to make up for the money that I will be losing for not staying as a teacher. I will be 70 next year. How...HOW can I retire when I can't even save on a NC salary for those 6 months I am not allowed to sub???!!! NC has shot themselves in the foot. It is a HORRID state to live in as a retired teacher. I can't even retire because where am I going to get the income needed to live on for those 6 months NC will not let us sub??!! HORRID STATE INDEED!! Do not become a teacher in NC. Be a teacher somewhere else, one that pays for your CEU credits, like Seattle, Maryland, etc. Do your research. There are other states just as bad. There are other states way better. Do your research, but whatever you do, don't move here to NC as a teacher.

Does it not make sense for them to increase the pay? For example! If you budgetted for 500 teacher position and only got 150 enrolled, is it not obvious you need to increase the pay to attract more people to apply? Jesus fuck! Let me run the school district.

It interesting the teachers are blaming the pandemic they were the fighting tooth and nail to keep classes remote.

Cause they don’t get paid enough. Why try your best when you are not paid enough to do so. That’s the same with any job.
