i think bike choices always follow our state of mind. It's a complement for our needs. Freedom, speed, style, work. Name it. Constant changing experiences. There is always a bike to fit our needs. that's the biker life i think. And each one teach u something about riding and yourself.

Since you choose MT09 for the 3rd time, you seem to be indeed keen on this model, why not get yourself a higher performance SP version with superior Ohlins cartridge in a golden tube and rear full adjustable Ohlins shock, plus a very handy cruise control function.

I bought the exact same MT09 just a few months ago. The second gen is so much nicer, with TCS if we are on edge and you don't want to die. The headlight looks angry making it the best so far. The blue color is just awesome in the sun, making it the eye catcher for the ladies. I love it so far, this summer going for a holiday in germany, gonna open the throttle on the autobahn!

I almost bought this bike. A 2020 model. Even went to the dealer, sat on it, did my homework. Then covid hit and I had to put off buying a bike for awhile. When I did buy a bike last year, I ended up getting a Honda CB500X. I was worried about the power and what not, but I wanted a comfortable bike that I could ride for hours. Ended up being the best bike I've owned!!! Never thought a sub 500cc motorcycle could be so much fun, and I've done several weekend trips with it. That being said, I do think a 650 or 700cc version would be the perfect bike for me.

I recently moved from a 2008 Kawasaki KLR (you loved that bike :)) to a 2019 Yamaha Tracer 900. Holy crap! You are spot on regarding the torque, desire to rip my arms off and all things fantastic about that triple! I am so in love with more than quadrupling my horsepower! Looking forward to more videos!!!!!

I came off of super sports also but now I just want a fun street bike so I bought a 19 mt09. Haven’t really had time to really try it because of winter. I hope I love it and not regret it

Great video because of the thought process you put into it 👍 The make\models don't really matter but I went from a Ducati Multistrada 1200 DVT to a Versys 650, no crashes involved just a change of country. What a smile on my face with the little Kawi, I can ride it full throttle, fell like 'I know how to ride it', it puts a smile on my face every ride... The Multistrada was a brilliant bike but I could never do it justice (not good enough), so like your 3rd MT09, I have found a happy place 😎😉 Just wondering if an MT09 might be the next Versys for me LOL!

(I had a Gixxxer K8 1000 and HS1200 before, but they are too big/serious, all I want is some fun

Awesome bike currently saving up for my second 09. You can get a get a screen protector for the bikes dash laterally the first mod I do.

My XR650L was one that I've had a love/hate relationship with. Then when it was time for me to move with my family, I was going to sell it. But when I road it around, to take it to the self serve carwash, I couldn't stomach it. I was thinking about the prospect of it being my last ride, as I listened to my exhaust crackle in the downshifts, I that was it. Not gonna happen.

I have the same with the Street Triple, I'm on my 3th one now with a few bikes in between every other year. I even had an MT-09 but I hated the seating position and suspension (although I fixed that with a hyperpro street box). I miss the powerful engine of the MT09 but the Street is so much faster and more stable around corners.

My road bikes started on an RD125 then a TZR125 YPVS then back to the RD250 then a RD350 YPVS. The a Reverse Cylinder TZR 250 with 350 barrels . Then a RGV 250 then the first R7 the R1 . With ZX7RRs & ZX12R

I suggest you to buy the DPM Gullwing Windshield to enhance the look of your MT-09 even more. A friend of mine has it and it really is brilliant.

The biggest grower I've owned (stop laughing at the back) was my 2009 Kawi Versys 650. I got the bike after a series of short-lived bike changes, and it felt like an anti-climax. The two bikes before it were big, loud, shouty cruisers with wide pipes and lots of character. Next to them, the Versys was extremely bland. However, before them I had a V-Strom 650, and that was an incredible bike. The Versys was faster and more agile, sure, but it was also way less comfortable and the parallel twin lacked character compared to the V-twin in the Strom, so it even felt like a downgrade from that too. However, I swapped the massive riot-shield windscreen it came with for a nice little short, tinted number, which somehow made the bike feel so much more agile and nimble purely by placebo. Then I put an aftermarket can on it. And boom, literally overnight it was a fun bike to ride, with character and enjoyable shifting. It was always competent at what it did, but now it was enjoyable too. And then a couple of weeks later I got hit by a car and the Versys was shrapnel all over the road, and me along with it. Typical.

@@ag096 Hey man, thank you, I appreciate that. I did indeed get another bike, I've got a Triumph T100 Bonneville now which I (very occasionally) made videos on over on my channel. And with your Vstrom, I'd personally keep it over a Versys yeah. The Versys does handle better, and is probably faster, but the Strom is the nicer bike in my opinion. And it's even great on fuel, I had a camping trip here in the UK, put fuel in it in Wales and road all the way back to the West Midlands in England, fully laden with panniers, tent on the seat etc, then drove to work the next morning, and then finally filled up on the way home that night. Can't go wrong with that.

I've had bout 20 bikes including super sports,sport tourers and naked like mt10,super duke r,zx14r,cbr1000rr,this is one of my favourite ones.

My headspace on my first (new) bike was my cbr500r and almost immediately i wanted more powah! But i got used to it and learned to corner on it (for 1.5yrs). Strangely i bought a Versys 650 next which only had like 15-20ish more horsepower but that seems to be enough to soothe my power thirst (l o l - i guess im not really that thirsty). Oddly though i wish it handled more like a sportbike…. It took some time to realize that bikes can be cornered in a variety of ways and deep leans is not the be all end all. Also my back doesn’t hurt, im comfortable to ride all day aaand BAGS! BAGS FOR DAYS! My headspace changed to match the logic that my brain knew the Versys offered….i just had to give it time 😊

I rode a Duke 390 2015 for 5 years. And also own a husky fe plated dirt bike. Found my self riding more freeways so went to a mt07 2021 a couple of years ago. I am an old lady and Prefer upright bikes, handles so well on freeways. Maybe one day I will be ready for Mt09.

You're right about headspace, but that refers to a lot more than just motorcycles. And we're not crazy! 😛

I was a bit late to the motorcycle world, ie: 32 years old. That's because I needed a place to live, and buying a bike would have ended that. At least that's what my mum told me! I have had only five bikes since then though. I love MotoGP and Superbike racing so I have an affinity for Sportbikes. I currently own two. Both bought new. A 2001 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R and a 2010 BMW K1300S, and I love them both. However, at 64 years young, I am starting to think that I might want something a little more relaxed. Will you try and run a lower profile bar on this MT? if so witch one? I've tried the Pro Taper Universal low and the Carmichael bend. But I'm not sure what to think of either of them. I think I like the stock bar better, I just with it was 800mm like the Pro Tapers.

I've had 1st gen and I now own the 2022 MT09 and I must say there is a huge improvement over both 1st and 2nd gen, best thing about it is the wheelie control & auto blipper! 🤌

I learned to ride on a Suzuki GS1000S (with clip-ons!) when I was 18 ... and survived. I kept it for the better part of 15 years and then got a Honda XL500 which I used to go on a trip ; overland from Belgium to South Africa (1 year trip, 30.000km) These are the bikes I remember best. I now ride a BMW R1200R. It's good and reliable.... It's also boring. 🙂

I love the bike but the things I want to do to it cost as much as another bike. Definitely an amazing bike but riding it as my daily has become a chore and think it’s time to sell or trade it in

With the knowledge that in south Africa you drive on the left hand side of the road it makes me wonder. As a motorcycle rider how do you (or do you) use the motorcyclists greeting when riding? In the United States the greeting is your left hand extended outward with your index and middle fingers only extended. This greeting is basically saying be safe. In south Africa you'd have to use your right hand for another motorcyclist to see it.

Have you ridden the 3rd gen MT-09? From pictures I didn’t like the front, but it looks so much better in real life. And after riding it you will never want to go back to a previous gen, it handles corners soooo much better than the 1st and 2nd gen

Third gen 09's seem to be having quite a few teething issues after the engine overhaul. Fueling issues causing the bike to cut off white riding and bad vibration issues are the two big ones I see mentioned the most. And the new chassis' seem delicate. Saw where one guy ran off the pavement, didn't ram in to anything and the headstock snapped off the frame. It's not looking great for the third gens just now.

My buddy has the mt09 loves it and rides it he’s at the track but you either love or really don’t care for it. Got to say I’m in the camp that doesn’t care for it the bike seems so confused about what it’s trying to be0.

My 2022 MT09 has grown on me. At first I didn't like it and wanted an GSX-S 1000 or MT10 but couldn't afford it new. A good in used condition was hard to find and so I bougth the MT09 and start looking around for a good MT10. But after riding it for a few months I've stopped looking for an MT10 because the MT09 has grown on me and it has showed me why she's a keeper. It's in yamaha blue obviously😁

The RN69 chassis is a gem. They completely transformed the bike from basically a great engine in an afterthought of a bike to a fantastic hypernaked allrounder. Only problem is the looks.

@@dsofe4879 I can't say I disagree with you. At first I didn't like the looks at all. When I did see it in real life it was okay but still not as atractive as the MT10 or GSX-S 1000 would be. But after a while it has grown on me and the headlight doesn't bother me anymore and I love the way it preforms. Makes me smile every time I ride it.

@@marioplessers I have the 2022 XSR900 and I feel the same way about it. At first I hated the seat and I still don't love it, but it's slowly growing on me. And with the way the bike rides, it's impossible not to love it.

@@marioplessers I've got the blue one. I originally wanted black, but the blue was all I could get and even that was a 4 month waiting list. It does look stunning in person though, despite the weird mismatch in gold-tones. Total blast to ride.

You should just have gotten a Kawasaki Z900, then you would never have been in doubt :) 4 + years of ownership and still a grin on my face every. single. time. I. Ride!

I think it is better bike all round as for one thing the Z900 has an 17 litre tank compared to the 14 litre tank on the MT 09. The Z900 is superior for touring.

street triple 675 r 2009. bought it cheap as my everyday bike and ended up falling in love with it, sadly had to sell it as money was tight, now i have got a 2019 mt09sp,

It's ridiculously high Guess how much is the 1290 R here?
