Guess it all depends at what spectrum of society you are in India. If you are the one who could hire a domestic help then you are better off in India, but if you are a domestic help then I don’t think India gives you a very dignified life. Poor and bleeding people lying outside the local government hospitals give us a picture. Also was shocked to learn the salaries of boys/girls, for instance the ones working retail stores. Can’t help but wonder how are they even surviving! But, again, every country has its pros and cons. India is definitely a very unique country in a good way, and given the circumstances it is the most successful country, relatively. I am desperately trying to return to India, now that I have some money saved to live a little bit of a decent life. Let’s see! Having said, am happy for you and wish you all the best.

I guess it’s the same across the world and not just in India. If you’re on the other side of the spectrum anywhere, it’s tough. You don’t have easy access to health care, education, and a dignified life in many developing countries. India is has its pros and cons, like you said. You’ve to pick your battles and see what’s more important to you. Personally, if I was making a little less but had the opportunity to live in a 1st world country, I’d probably go for it because fighting cultural and societal battles as a woman in North India requires another debate altogether. Again, everything has its pros and cons. Glad to hear you’re considering moving back! Hope it works out for you!

Where should I live if I want to be inBIG nature but where people speak some English and where it’s spiritual. I am a meditation teacher and have been wanting to love to India for forever.

There are two options if you want to be closer to nature - Himachal Pradesh or Kerala. Himachal is in the northern and Kerala, is more tropical and down south. You will find foreigners in both regions. I would say go to Kerala, is very beautiful and the people are warm too.

I have been living in India on and off for almost 10 years and I want to point out that I haven’t felt unsafe anywhere. The key is to trust your instincts and just respect the local culture and norms.

Cons of India 1) Overpopulation and Unhygienic surroundings in Tier 1,2,3 cities 2) Lot of serious crimes 3) Lot of goons and its very easy to get in problems in India 4) Broken legal system and Judiciary 5) Bad Working and corporate culture

Thanks for your inputs! While I agree with some of the issues you have pointed out, it’s important to acknowledge that every country has its battles, especially one as large and diverse as India. I would like to believe India has done a decent job given the size of the country and the diverse needs of the people the government has had to cater to over the years. There definitely are some areas that require serious improvement, but the focus of this video was not that.

Corruption Attitude to women Intolerance to other religions The way Indian men treat foreign women India is statistically the most racist country in the world. It’s attitude to the poor. Lack of tolerance Colourism.
