Try out Dash Hudson! www.dashhudson.com/features?u... | Vlogs are a super popular format on KZread - so why is it so dang hard to get views on them? In this video, I’m going to break down the biggest mistakes I see a lot of beginner vloggers making, and we’re going to take a look at how successful vloggers get views on their vlogs, get their videos served on the Home page, and ultimately, grow their channels. So if you’re an aspiring KZread vlogger, then keep on watching! And let me know in the comments if you’d like to see more videos on me on how to grow on KZread :)
00:00 Most vlogs on KZread will never get views - but why?

I like following people with unique lifestyles - Jetting Julia (flight attendant), Eva zu Beck (adventures on the road), Sailing LaVagabonde (life on a sailboat - with kids!), The Crew Chef (cooking for crew and guests on a mega yacht), and Kara and Nate (travel) are a few. Probably the most “normal” type blogger I follow is Shelby Church Vlogs and sometimes her sister Monica. Good vlogs can be hard to find sometimes so appreciate your advice!

"Now one cares about you." I heard this advice a few years ago and it changed my perspective completely with content creation. People want something for themselves. What is your audience getting out of it? Eventually, if you're lucky, they will start watching not just for the content, but for YOU.

Vlogs is what I mostly watch on KZread. For me, the vloggers I'm drawn to are those who align to my travel interests (e.g. Japan), silent ones (asian vloggers), hometown ones (vloggers in my city), and finally those where i simply find their life or personality unique or interesting to me. Editing and style are also important but not deal breakers

This is exactly what I came to realise. I had to understand that no one actually cares about me or what I do 😂 - so I changed my content to be a lot more informative and having the focus on what viewers will actually want to see. Of many people enjoyed the vlog content, but viewers ultimately want to be engaged - and since I’ve changed my focus/content, my channel has grown SO much in comparison to how it had been growing!

I am currently planning and preparing to start a KZread channel and am doing a lot of research for it. And I do think the whole "Nobody cares" topic is crucial. Your vlogs / stories should be showing something that is at least a little different from what the average person experiences or should document what life is like for a certain specific group of people in order to really engage viewers. What I mean by that is that most successful vloggers who document their life are e.g. living in a cabin in the woods or living in a van or have a specific career so they can show what a work day looks like in this career or are a student at an elite university so people are curious about what life is like there etc. etc. As Katie mentions in the video - you don't have to survive by yourself on a desert island, but your vlogs should contain aspects that are in some shape or form out of the ordinary - even if it's just taking a swim in a cold lake in winter or something that people are going to click on just because it's different from their own everyday life. It should be something that people will want to watch because maybe they wish their life could be like that or are working towards that. Of course there are many other aspects to it but ideally your vlogs should be something that not every single average person with a smartphone can effortlessly reproduce.

This was great! Very few of these cater to vloggers. And as a creator I feel like I get lost in the story line and forget to do the KZread specific things… like remind them who I am.

Hi Katie, thanks so much for making this video! It's really useful for a youtube beginner like me. I've been reflecting a lot lately on how to further improve my videos, making it interesting for my viewers and further reinforce my objectives of starting the channel. What you've said in the video is really helpful and enlightening. :)

Thank you for your very simply explained tips. Easy to remember and not intimidating with bla bla bla… this is just a chillin way of teaching and guiding.

Very useful advice, Katie! Thank you. I think I can nail the "and then" adjustment with a "No, Miles, no....!" theme regularly, which is quite authentic. My daily life is mostly like that. Intro: I have a plan today, mostly, I think. I hear: "I don't think you should do that, Miles!" (buildup), and then "Miles, I told you" (breakdown, maybe literally), and then, me again, with a conclusion: "I'll be back next time for you guys, my sadistic returners, and to the new ones who are wondering how it is possible for me to resolve this. I guess you can guess how it'll start...."
