Why more teens are enrolling in cadets

Cadet ranks are growing in British Columbia, boosted by Chinese and Indo-Canadian immigrants. Cadets say the experience provides opportunities and keeps them safe from bullying and violence in schools.

Joined Air Cadets in '81 - have life long friends from that experience including finding my wife among the ranks. We grew together after our run in Cadets, but that's where we first met. My best friends were cadets with me. The best and least known opportunity for young adults out there. Love it that the movement continues!

I was in the Civil Air Patrol as a cadet I am very familiar with Royal Canadian Air Cadet league of Canada. One year I went up to Lethbridge, Alberta to the HART ceremony where the Civil Air Patrol and cadets from Canada come for a weekend to remember our fallen, my favorite part was when they had Air Cadet playing the bagpipes playing the tune Flowers 'O' the Forest.

If you join Air Cadets your going to be fast tracked to a higher level (because of the fact your 16) you will need to do some level exams but like the other comment, you would still learn leadership skills, citizenship, discipline. But it also depends on how much time and effort you put into the program. So I recommend that you try out the program and see if you want to say in it.

Now that’s what ALL young people should be striving for. A sense of purpose. A goal in life. Respect for others regardless of their ethnic background. Simply wishing to better themselves. I spent 5 years in the Australian Air Cadets. That experience cemented in my mind how much I wanted to be a Military Pilot. Eventually I achieved that goal. Without the Cadets, I often wonder if I would ever have been able to succeed in Aviation as I eventually did. The youth of today need this type of disciplined guidance. But those same individuals do NOT feel that they are being oppressed … they revel in the discipline & authoritarian structure of their Cadet systems. Never let the Leftist “Do Gooders” crucify such wonderful organisations such as the Military Cadet System.
