What is content smp?

I don’t think the hermits “hopped on a trend.” I think that the similarities with lifesteal are probably by coincidence. For one, last life wasn’t the original series, 3rd life was. I highly doubt that most hermits consume any content similar to Lifesteal for the reasons you mentioned: it’s targeted towards a younger audience and even with the pvp elements of the life series, it’s a vastly different feel. Plus, as I’ve said, 3rd life came first, not last life, and that series didn’t even have the life gifting mechanic. They have their similarities, but it feels like a bit of a diss on the hermits creativity to write off such a refreshing idea as 3rd life as “hopping on a trend” They’ve never done that, never chased trends, they simply do what they think will be fun. Yes, they make fun references, but what they do is never motivated solely by that KZread grind mindset. It wasn’t meant to grow their audience, despite that being a possible plus, it was bean to be a fun spinoff for themselves and the hat portion of their audience wanted to watch it. Hermitcraft isn’t dying, it’s a thriving community with new art and animations coming out every single day! I think the most smps nowadays are carbon copy, flavorless “mrbeastified” videos. However, I do think that saying all smps are dying is a massive overstatement.

What separates Hermitcraft from probably most other minecraft content is that I have never heard of any harmful scandal within their members. Things like the Dream SMP have a ton of drama with everyone else and that is sad. The fact that Hermitcraft, like you said, is more mature, helps the content even more. Also an honorable mention I'd like to say is Techno, because I don't think he would have fallen into a rabbit hole of scandals and controversy. He was simply too smart to do that.

They have they repremend theyre members privately and ban them from the server later on if it comes out they are no longer affiliated with them thus it doesnt hurt their brand.

The life SMP is quite a unique take on the "plug-in" smp format. With each season giving a twist of the 3 lives and your out system. And one of the best part is that it's not scripted at all, with a minor caveat at a certain episode for each season, some decisions were made by some of the creators to nudge the server into a certain direction to ensure it's quick end of the season. It's own small little fan base. Many in the hermitcraft fanbase just treat it like filler content like in-between videos where they can let lose and for certain creators like Etho who doesn't upload often, it gives the fans something to look for every single week for the short amount of time because again they don't upload often.

It's definetly not dead look at hermitcraft it's probably at it's most popular

I'm not sure I agree that HermitCraft members could not go viral with a new clever idea. I think it's more that they simply have no real incentive to try. They are doing the stuff they like, and it consistently gets views. The life series is fun diversion sure, but by design only last few months at most per season, and new seasons only happen if Grian or some of the other members can think of a new interesting twist to the formula, so like, even that is not really an attempt to go viral, or at least I don't think it is. I don't know the hermits so I of course don't know for sure their thought process

In defense of the last life series, I don't think they do it for the views, I think they're just having fun with it. Each video within it is still filled with personality and it's still ongoing despite being long past the prime of lifesteal

I'd like to say that you might shocked how much lore hermitcraft has. ;) I'd also say that the third life and so on are just fun ideas by Grian, not necessarily hermitcraft. Although there are a lot of lifers that also are on hermitcraft and the two are usually put together, "hermitcraft AND life series" it's mostly a separate thing, and both have pretty big communities, although life series might have more fan content over all, especially because it created a lot of fan-favourite duos and groups, like desert duo or the clockers. It might have originally been jumping on the trend, but it also started it's own trend, and usually is considered one of the smps that really started the "smp with a twist" trend. But right now it's far more then a trend, and has a LOT of loyal fans. Also that the hermitcraft members can do massive projects, they just do it like as a journey, with the fans watching and even helping along the way. I mean Tango created a fully interactive, fully decorated game (it's more impressive then that, trust me) in vanilla minecraft. I just wanted to share my opinion, I enjoyed watching the video, and have a great day. :D Also yeah I watched to the end.

Just because 1 or 2 SMPs like dream SMP and Lifesteal SMP are dead doesn't mean minecraft SMPs as a whole is dead, for example hermitcraft is probably at it's most popular and nobody in hermitcraft plans on quitting any time soon so there is no sign of it dying anytime soon

I like how you barely mentioned the Life SMP, it's almost as if it's the greatest SMP of all time, right next to Hermitcraft. The Life SMP isn't about channel growth, but about getting good views and having a good time for viewers and the KZreadrs. It actually creates new ideas that never get old or run out, or until Grian can't think of a new twist that works.

When i heared impulsesv and skizzleman talk about the third life series on their podcast i dont think that they created the server with the intent on growing as a channel, but really more of a fun side project

The thing with hermit craft is that it doesn’t have this whole big shouty thing and we’re doing this today screaming attitude. They have genuine interactions and not all them are builders, some redstoners etc. They do do big projects there bases are those projects and it tends to feel more familiar because of the scale they have

the Life Series was created before Lifesteal, and it was really beneficial to the smallerish creators like Skizz. I think it also does a lot better than Lifesteal, because, 1. It has creators that know each other and mesh together really well, and 2. The twist changes at least a little bit every season.

Honestly great video, however the life series with hermitcraft was never meant to get easy views. While it did work and those videos did amazing it brought a mix up for the fans in between the long form normal hermitcraft smp videos. It was a way to get consistent videos every week for a short time and it breathes some life into the longer videos as well.

The SMP's was hyped in 2020 during the pandemic and when we had nothing else better to do. We'd play and pretend to be in a forest building and touching grass. But now that that's over we can now go back outside and literally touch grass again.

The small SMP you were a part of never blew up, that doesn't mean that SMP content is dead. That would mean that SMP content isn't successful, but that isn't true. Like all things in this world, individuals and groups will have different levels of success. If you notice, Dream SMP didn't die because it was a dead idea. It was because some of the group moved on to other things, and also... One of the backbones to that SMP LITERALLY died. TechnoBlade. I could see it hard starting another run without techno and how it might have soured some people on coming back. I dunno. Even Vault Hunters SMP does REALLY well. Maybe not so much on KZread, but it's a twitch based SMP. A very successful one, too. I don't know It just seems like you wanted to make a video and instead of being real or using any form of logic, you just used confirmation bias and started with a negative concept because negative dying sensationalist claims work better than honesty. Only. They don't do better for building a community.

The main problem with SMP's now days, is that no one takes risks. Unless you have a loyal fan base you won't try something new, which is sad to see. Because there is content creators that 100% can make SMP content outside the norm and will do well, but I doubt most people would do that, because its either a numbers game, or 12 year olds at most times. Not saying all people see it as a numbers game, some people probably do it for fun, but you don't get to see a lot of the more original creators shine. (Don't ask why an SMP channel is writing this)

I know they're all technically different series, but they have the same people and some say are connected like seasons. I'm referring to Empires SMP S1 and S2. There's SOS (ongoing) and Afterlife, which I've seen some people believe is connected, in some instances they think X Life is connected to. All of these series have never really seemed to die down

As Mobs SMP owner, you are speaking fax. While I agree 100% my SMP is better than most because we actually take things serious, some of our content is the same and we are trying to find ways for our members to experiment with their content trying to find a new unique style with actually good ideas. Thank you for addressing this about SMP Content. It's just fax everything is becoming the same. Keep going with your uploads man, they're amazing.

honestly with the problem with personality is SO true i me editing a video rn and i want to personality into it but i always scared that people wont care, it feels like for me i have to do a cut at most every 5 seconds

3rd life was gians spin off idea based on the demise minigame the hermits had in season 6 of hermitcraft. Grian even refuses to see fan submission ideas for the life series just because he wants the idea to come from him. Lastly the life series is not hermitcraft related its grian related. Its grian idea all of the creators in it have said it, even some hermits not in it have said it. If it was a hermitcraft thing they would have just made it happen in the hermitcraft server like all the other games the have done in the server. Such as tag, demise, and others.

Hermitcraft will never die until it ends but modern smp yt is going to die but modern smps are not going to die but they are just going to loose there charm that it had and now just be the same thing every upload.

The reason they started the life series is probably got bored and wanted to do something else for abit. I doubt its hopping on the trend.

The thing i think about mc smp is for content creator there should be a balance between wanting to have a high monetary value vs how they presented themselves to the audience. If you want to talk about SMPs you can go way farther back than the DreamSMP. The Yogscast in 2010 and CaptainSparkles' SMP Mianite in 2014 were huge back in the day. I'm sure there are also many more than that. SMP content will never die so long as Minecraft has a following. What changes is that sometimes the market is oversaturated.

lifesteal did not die. it is still pulling huge amounts of views. they changed the regular format in season 4 with the wormhole.

I wouldn't say Minecraft SMP content is dead, but i do think controversies and drama has been slowly ruining it. its definitely ruined a lot of my motivation and i don't blame people like clutch or subz for quitting

While you bring up some great points and this video is pretty well made. Saying SMP content is dead is a bit too much. The loss in views is the naturaly cycle of something losing popularity overtime. All highs are followed by lows. I think the main reason lifesteal dropped in views is because the content is about what is being done in the server not who is doing it. Its much less dependant on the creators personality and charm. There is only so much you can do on a pvp based server.
