Why medieval politics was nothing like Game of Thrones

‘🦋Knowing One Another’ is the piece I chose to open the ‘Beyond the Stars’ concert at the Expo 2020 Dubai. Composed and arranged for the musicians I had assembled for the performance, the music evokes the anticipation of travellers setting out on a journey full of the promise of discovery. From Tayyar Bayramov’s mesmerising mugham solo to the compelling rhythms and melodies performed brilliantly on traditional instruments, my aim was to paint a sound portrait of the ways we come to know one another through our music. Deep thanks to all the musicians who shared their stories and skill, and who set out on this journey with me. -Sami Yusuf

🦋On a personal note, this music - and traditional music in general - is the music I love the most. These are the musical forms that speak to me. By drawing deep from the beauty and wisdom that can be found in this art, I find joy and fulfilment. It’s a great honour to know that we are leaving something behind for the next generation as we celebrate these sublime cultural expressions. Thank you all for being with me on this journey. -Sami Yusuf

😊 🙏🏻 Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them, is the true measure of our thanksgiving!

🦋Knowing a person is like music, what attracts us to them is their melody, and as we get to know who they are, we learn their lyrics!

Allah ﷻ told me ‘’It is because you share all your basic dreams and they recognize you.’’ THE CHOSEN ONES Bismillah Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahiim Imam Mahdi Muhammad Qasim: I was walking somewhere and I knew my destination was the era of peace and a person meets with me and we were headed in the same destination, although he was going down the wrong path. I did not say anything to him or force him but I hinted to him that you are going the wrong way. He noticed in time and went the right way and was working like a spark, he gathered a few people and at one point they were waiting to meet me, they knew my name and where I was going which surprised me. Thinking ‘’Where have I met them before.’’ Allah ﷻ told me ‘’It is because you share all your basic dreams and they recognize you.’’ They were awesome people very nice and kind, they asked me "Qasim where are you headed to.” When they knew I was headed to the path of peaceful land they started following me and even walked faster than me. Then Allah ﷻ gave us cars and we moved faster, at one point that man gather many more people and then the whole world saw our efforts.
