Why Max Effort Full Bolt N/A On 350z Builds Suck!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In today's video, we discuss the topic of why a full N/A build in the conquest of making great horsepower gains is potentially one of the worst ways to build a 350z/ Infiniti G35 versus the forced induction route.
Do you think I'm wrong?!

    This video is really well researched. For NA to make sense, you’d basically wanna get ISR everything and a nice intake and hope your engine is healthy (HR and VHR). For DEs, a Vortech kit or midmount kit is way more fun with not very much more than going fbo + cams etc.

    Oh this is interesting! What would be the power goals at the end of both platforms after everything is all said and done?

    Exactly what I'm doing with my DE now. FBO, a nice set of cams, forged pistons and rods, slap a vortech kit on it with my cooling mods and call it a day. Have fun and drive.

    Video is all facts lmao. Fbo, cams, ported intake heads, pulleys, injectors, pump, e85 etc, $15k on the low. Makes maybe 325-350. + stroker kit like $25k total and makes like 400whp lmao. De, and even hr don't make shit NA lmao even if u spend $50k ur not even gonna make 450 with the best of the best available.

    valid point! it just best to save up and do it one time to make some great power. the vq platform can be great if done correctly the first time around.

    Also, realistically speaking an actual FI build pushing 600whp or more.. give or take, would cost u closer to 25k-30k. If u want it to be reliable, 15k is down playing it big time. Once u include all the supporting mods. Shit you gone spend 10k on the engine alone, if its built properly without cutting corners and lifting the heads after the first pass on boost 🤣

    Hmm I would say so for sure. I have a built De capable of 700whp and two other friends likewise that spent a fraction of that. My total build cost had been 15k. My car is at 514whp right now and could hit 600whp but I’m currently on pump.

    @@JDMNEDU yuppp mine just put down 750+ on a dyno jet (not the most accurate numbers) and I’ve put about 20k-ish maybe even a bit more, low balling it . But then again mine is built for 1k+ just not worth the headache that comes with more boost to even come remotely close to those numbers.

    I was bored in class one day and made a breakdown of DE power goals and IMO with careful research: NA 300WHP (NEAR+) Plenum Spacer Long Tube Intake Bigger Throttle Body Full Tomei (headers - back) Cams Full Manifold Thermal Gaskets Fully Ported Manifold Gutted OEM Top Manifold REVUP Oil Pump (maybe) E85 (maybe) R35 OEM Injectors (maybe) Race Fuel (yes gains) Honorable Mention: head port seen 300whp 271 tq with 11.1 pistons & cams power to weight mods: full tomei as mentioned u save a lot of weight, lighter driveshaft less rotational mass, solid diff bushings, diff brace to put the power down without hop. imo this is the best off the shelf NA mods. I wish I could do this but I’m in school and I’m limited. If you wanna talk about BIG HP ON A DE the formula is actually simple: 700-1000 whp Forget L19s ARP CA625 Studs (I think discontinued) Next best thing: ARP200 Even better: R35 CA625 Studs (custom fit) CSS CLOSED DECK O RING OR TKM FUEL HOOPS SURGE TANK FUEL RETURN LIKE 3 FUEL PUMPS COPPER HG

    What does the o rings do and prevent?

  • @DEATHWISHVQ

    @DEATHWISHVQ

    6 ай бұрын

    @@JDMNEDU there’s two ways of installing and going about o-rings: installing on the block, or installing on the head. You take your block/or head to a machine shop, they will dig a groove in the block/or head, in the shape of a circle, if it’s on the block then it’s grooved around the cylinder, once you have the groove, you can install the o-ring (awkward copper, I believe because if it’s expansion properties) it was slightly be raised, like a speed bump, it is used to SEAL the cylinder head, I think most copper o rings are not off the shelf products, they’re custom made I believe, since they have to be cut it’ll never be one piece, the part where it is split, should always face toward a bolt and away from a cooling jacket or oil passage, this reduces chance of pressure escaping into the coolant or oil just a tip from watching a lot of videos. The brother of o-rings, are fuel hoops, practically the same principle but if I’m not mistake more expensive because now the edge of the cylinder needs a bore to seat around the cylinder. It’s a very clever invention and has been around for decades, o rings came first, the old school way of sealing head pressure, fuel hoops are more advanced. Here’s a video that best represents how they look kzread.info/dash/bejne/eY2Msrx-nry_h9Y.htmlsi=yzZzxYecZWRfYTmJ a few googled images will also help, the only reason why I say avoid L19 with big hp like near 900 is because when a VQ has failed and lifted the head I believe MAYBE it’s because it doesn’t have a high enough PSI capacity, but who knows maybe o rings and L19 would last, but hard to prove since nobody shares their failures. if I’m not mistaken CA625 studs are the strongest studs from ARP near 300 PSI strength around there I believe.

    Nahh take out plenum spacer and add e85 and injectors; that spacer a waste of energy and cash

  • @DEATHWISHVQ

    @DEATHWISHVQ

    6 ай бұрын

    @@omari5875 the reason why I said maybe on those items is because since it’s an NA build, I feel that the stock injectors should be far more than enough to provide fuel, also I’ve not found a video as to where E85 has really benefited a DE make significant power gains. It’s known why a plenum spacer is used for that’s a proven fact, race fuel from what I’ve seen on an HR did provide huge gains that defend the use of race fuel.

    Or pull a big brain move by puting some Murrica freedom power in your Z by pulling a L92 out of a junkyard Escalade for 500$, get a big choppy cam for 500-800$, buy IRS performances LS swap kit and a wiring harness for like 4000$-5000$, and go that route. (Not only will get you get angry V8 sounds, but now you have a 530 hp engine in your car that probably will still be more reliable then having a 350hp VQ)

    Idk if I blow up my Zs engine Im not putting back in a VQ, Im not even going to mod it right now because I know that its not going to be THAT CAR with a VQ in it. It only has 45000 miles on it and its a reliable daily so I am not going to turn it into a project car 😂(unless the engine mysteriously blows up then its getting some freedom power, probably a L92, L99, LS3, or, if I want to be a try hard a LS7, then Im going to have to make custom badges and replace the 350z with 700z 😂)
