Why Malcolm Gladwell used to get pulled over by the Police | BookTube
New York Times best selling author, Malcolm Gladwell, is out with another groundbreaking non-fiction book, Talking to Strangers. Malcolm Gladwell is joined by guest moderator Derek Muller, creator behind the Veritasium KZread channel, and BookTubers Nai'a Perkins (NaiaReadsAndSmiles), Danielle Bainbridge (Origin of Everything) and Ellias Hoang (Ellias) to chat about the ideas behind his new book, his Jamaican roots, and the only five liquids he drinks.

With the case of the women who died in jail it’s not just about two people who are not communicating well with each other, it’s more about one person who does not communicate well and that same person having complete authority over the other person and having the situation escalate and get completely out of control. With a job like being a police officer you would hope that they are trained in how to communicate and deflate situations not the opposite as it was in this case.
Im glad I got hooked onto Malcolm Gladwell. I first read "Blink" in my senior year of high school, I bought it for my 19th birthday. I love behavioral and social Psychology, so after Blink I wanted to get Talking to Strangers for my 20th birthday.
This book changed the way I interact with my wife and kids. His work is the best self-reevaluating work out there.
I feel like youtube is trying so hard in creating a diversity of interviewers so viewers, utuber thinks, can have a broader range of perspectives. But instead, this just makes the discussion feel less deep than it should have been if there were one or two interviewers. Btw, I love questions asked by Veritasium guy. Great video btw.
Tnq Malcom for changing my life.your book is a masterpiece
Great company, Great discussion......
*One of my fave Authors!! Looking forward to more Episodes!*
My chem professor recommended this guy's podcast and now I'm hooked on malcom!

I understand the fear of getting pulled over. The advice Naya's father gave her is genius. I will be giving that advice to my sons.
Fantastic and engaging format. This series will surely go far.

Fantastic .... so many things were said that I have "felt" but have not been able to put into words. I am reading your book and sending it to everyone I know (and don't know!)

Blackhood Against The Police we need to read.
Hey, hi...just found you. (Mentioned in the comments of an apologizing idiot who said people who watch KZread don't read.) GREAT! I live out of the US in another culture, language, and --just realized--I'm very hungry for this kind of talk. This is exciting in a way that GoodReads isn't--and different from a family of avid readers ordinary conversations. Can one write a little little story from when I was very little about reading?
Going out to buy. 🙏🙏
My favourite books
Your name is Naya, you love books and I love you.

I wonder how any of these people would feel, or if they even imagined themselves being in the shoes of a police officer? Having to wonder if this was the mundane traffic stop that is going to end their life. They never once mentioned that. Not dismissing the bad police encounters that happen, but I will say it’s not as prominent of an issue as society is making it out to be; I wish they would acknowledge the polarization tactic the media uses by overdramatizing this issue.
Love this!

It takes a dead woman to inspire a living book. Each of us has a gift, beyond ourselves, our lives: that will effect a ripple of love, sadly, of hate, who knows? Malcolm wrote an obituary that wil live, well past, than any of us, including the MOSES Malcolm. Let's thank the sacrificial lamb as well as the High Priest Gladwell. And. Heaven is here, to help us all. Gregg Oreo long Beach Ca

Maybe it's a problem of how the video is edited but i am still having trouble understanding Malcolm's perspective on using machine in justice system. In 5:30, he said "I want the machine", but also said the decision of whether a person is going to go free or be put behind bars cannot come from a machine.
Sorry but saw the thumbnail for this as a ad and said "wow he looks like jeff warren"
Wow..
Thank you share my video

Dope
The default to suspicion and coupling bits were really interesting. Couldn't stop myself from posting a video on it. :-) Let me know if any of you get the time to watch it.
*Listen,* y'guys.. because this interview had a *handful* of *objectives,* i promise you *that!!* and here *is* the bottom line: give it *UP!* because *Mr. M.,* he's *somewhat* of a unicorn!🦄.🌈 and *despite* some of what you were, *hilariously* 😆 & in *this* case [as not all channels are, like yours, *SOMEHOW* remaining just *fairly* curious & innocent], you need to accept it: *Sir Malcolm Gladwell, hahaha!!* is like a *lot* more of us than some would prefer!!: the *perfect* & so *ideal STAR TREK* character!!👍👍
He reminds me of Fred Armisen

Hello
Walker is Cuter than gavin
I will admit that I prejudged him before I listened to him and he certainly isn't the person that I initially thought he was, though, he certainly does exude many of the traits that I thought that he would, at the same time, he is not the caricature cut out that I initially perceived him to be.
