Why ___ Lost Season Premiere | Survivor 46

Ойын-сауық

The Why ___ Lost team of David Bloomberg and Jessica Lewis are back to start off Survivor 46, and for Episode 1 they have special guest Lindsay Carmine from Survivor 43! Jeff Probst and Jelinsky both mentioned possible kryptonite for him before the game. Were either of them right in the actual reasons? Was it all the quitting? As usual, it’s more complicated and you might say there were, ahem, several reasons. David, Jessica, and Lindsay look at his short but eventful time in the game and put together the pieces from what we saw on TV, his interviews, and other information. It’s time to figure out Why Jelinsky Lost.

Richard Hatch had a great FTC answer back in season one when asked about qualities that got him through the game when he said self awareness. Jelinsky lacked that. Players are often inside their own heads and not paying attention to how other players are reacting to them. They don’t understand where they stand with other players, they’re focused on how they feel things should be going instead of how things are actually going. It’s not just young and overly eager super fans. Russell Hantz did it twice when he constantly beat his chest and declared that he was in charge and calling the shots. The juries were more impressed with the maneuvering done by Natalie, Sandra, and Parvati. Jake last season was so focused on a big move that he forgot to maneuver.

His 2 quits were the right decision imo. The problem is he handled them HORRIBLY. I don't for a second believe Q actually was suggesting to quit. It was probably a misunderstanding.

My guess is that Jalinsky "quit" in his mind right at the start of sweat. He saw how impossibly hard it was going to be and told himself he wasn't going to get it done. He complained throughout and Q probably finally asked him, do you want to quit.

That's how I read it. But from the exit interviews Jalinsky seems to be the least self-aware person in the universe so in his mind Q wanted to quit too.

1:08:02 Whenever this comes up I always refer back to a study I learned about in a psychology class, where researchers essentially implanted false memories of seeing a Bugs Bunny mascot character at Disneyland into people’s minds. For reference, Bugs Bunny is a Warner Bros character and would never be at Disney. Basically the researchers brought in like a hundred people who’d recently been to Disneyland and had them describe their experiences. One of the groups was exposed to a fake advertisement before their interviews, and it included Bugs Bunny being at Disneyland. A number of people in that group went on to describe interactions they remembered having with Bugs Bunny on their trips.

After he quit two tasks in a row, and at the immunity challenge, saw his tribe reach the puzzle portion in last place, and possibly knowing that he already annoyed his tribemates by quitting the two times he volunteered, Jelinsky should have at least had some sense to maybe not step up on doing the puzzle with Jess, and let one of his other tribemates do the task with her. Maybe Jess might have been the 1st person voted out had Jelinsky backed down a bit from putting himself in the limelight there.

Due to how much more info is available and the type of players cast since Philippines I think Jalinzky is a bigger flame out than Zane.

Why don’t you just talk through the episode and then point out what rules it applies to? Wouldn’t that be a more natural way of talking about the episode? Constantly saying we’ll get to that is pretty annoying and disrupts the flow of the conversation.

As a long time listener they Can’t do that bc they refer to pre game and exit interview content and secret scenes and social media post and so on and so on. This is a podcast where they talk through everything. Not just the episode

This podcast has never been an episode review show. There are other podcasts on this network that do episode reviews. This discusses the player voted out & what they did/didn’t do in the game.

Because when someone is the 11th person voted out, doing an episode review doesn’t make any sense.

Imo his choice to give in at the island and make the two other tribes happy was smart. He just shouldnt have told his tribe that he did that. He shouldve just said it was like previous seasons and that he risked his vote and lost it.

Yeah in my mind he out way too much stock in how betrayed Tevin or Maria would feel and how it could screw up his long term game. Like mate you’re already in hot water and I don’t think the other tribes are gonna judge too harshly. Day 26 only matters if you can survive the tribal on day 3 Maria would’ve come back looking dumb as hell, I don’t think she’d want that impression to stick and Tevin would’ve had to admit to failing his task as well.
