Kewell was mostly injured in his last season at leeds and for liverpool he only was fit enough to play 12 full games a season rest of the time he was used as a sub.

It wasn't a Champions League match vs Galatasaray, it was the UEFA Cup semi final (basically what we now know as the Europa League)... But everything else was well explained 👍

I am a Leeds fan and I don't hate him. It was a shit storm back then. He wasn't the only player to be greedy when push came to shove, that's for sure. Kewell was a fantastic player for us. Possibly the cream of that crop.

His greed will never be forgotten but then too move to the club knowing how much we hated the bastards just stuck two fingers up to Leeds united and all the fans 😡

As a Leeds fan I don't like Liverpool because they made an illegal approach to Kewell. They admitted it. And nobody did anything about it. Although I never had much time before that for them anyway. I grew up in the 70's and I live in Dorset. In those days everyone supported one of four teams. Leeds. West Ham. Liverpool. Or Manchester Utd. You would get the occasional individual choice - one schoolteacher I had was the only Grimsby fan I've ever met. Another was the only Bristol city fan I've ever met - but it was mostly those four clubs. YOu never met Arsenal or Chelsea fans in those days. ANyway all the Liverpool fans I knew were complete and utter glory hunters, and I couldn't stand them because of that. The same kind of supporters who went on to manchester utd in the 90's. Mind you I did know one derby fan and he was a horrible piece of work. I just can't stand Derby. Ever since. I can't but associate them with him.

He was greedy? This is the period in Leeds history that was filled with issues in regards to mismanagement. Other players around that time were being labelled as greedy. Mark Viduka springs to mind. Leeds ownership was at fault nobody else.

You may be correct about Leeds being badly managed by owners but Kewell was a special type of cunt. He rinsed the club and then moved to those horrible bastards. No amount of money should have tempted him he played the night Kev and Chris died.

It’s not the moving to a bigger club for more money, it’s how him and his agent conspired to have Leeds reject Liverpool’s initial bid to accept a lower amount and Kewell and his agent supposedly take remainder of the initial bid to themselves directly from Liverpool. It’s a complicated story of one which Kewell was in court for but it’s the shoddy business that’s the issue.
