I would like to apologize for there being a mistake in this video, The decision to ban timed laps stems from an accident at a VLN race, involving driver Jann Mardenborough, in which a spectator was killed was BEFORE THE KOENIGSEGG CRASHING. Track management reacted by imposing a speed limit at Flugplatz, where the crash occurred. Since then, management has imposed further restrictions in other high-speed sectors. Official word from Nürburgring management is that these restrictions will be reviewed at the end of the year, but for the time being, manufacturers like Koenigsegg are banned from attempting lap-time runs - even if they’ve rented out the entire track for themselves ,But then the limits were removed after the track was deemed safe again so koenigsegg went and attempted their lap record but crashed, and they never went on the track again. In March 2019 Christian von Koenigsegg says that they plan to return to the Ring with the 1600bhp Jesko, however they have still yet to go back to the track...

You have the entire story backwards The speed limits were imposed before the koenigsegg one:1 lap where they crashed on the Nurburgring, these speed limits were the result of a Nissan GTR crash that killed 2 spectators. Fun fact, the gtr was being driven by Jaan Mardenborough, yes the one from the movie. After this crash, the Nurburgring imposed track wide speed limits for ALL manufacturers regardless of Situation while they got to work making the track safer. In this time, koenigsegg achieved a lap record at spa Once the speed limits were finally lifted for all, koenigsegg would attempt a record with the black one:1, but would crash, ending their lap record attempts on the ring. They were never banned they simply gave up

The speed limits are no longer there. It was temporary because a spectator died when a Nissan GTR race car flew over the barrier and hurt some people. They have now made improvements to the Ring and the speed limits are gone.

The speed limit only applies in tourist days. Companies like Porsche and Mercedes still goes for lap records on the ring

The reason why we don’t see the koenigsegg on the Nordshleife is that those cars are quick on the straight only. They have good sound, they looks good but in terms of fast lap times, cars like GT 3 RS beat them heavy. They don’t want to lose with much cheaper cars.

Nurburgring times are irrelevant when their brand is built on engineering and straight line speed. Setting a slow lap time (by Hypercar standards) would damage their reputation

That’s because Nurburgring is old and slow, poorly engineered and not up to the performance standard of modern cars. There are are too many corners where you have to slow right down to old granny speed, and no fast, sweeping 200kph+ bends.

Couldnt agree more, if you want car that just speed launching on the straight line, those are your options. But if you want cars that can actually race in a racing track, or you can take a bit speed on normal regular road than you need different car.

@hemendraravi4787 they focus on extreme horsepower so it's harder to handle on the ring. The regular jesko alone comes with 1280hp. The amg one which has the ring record is only at 1063 hp. Ceo of koenigsegg said something about the jesko being too fast for the ring, which makes kind of sense since theres speed limits for safety at corners around the track.

Most hypercars are pretty boaty as they focus on topspeed and luxury. Only a few like amg one and Valkyrie. Jesko looks all track focused with that massive rear wing but who knows the real performance figures on track compared to actual track cars that is

The Jesko Attack makes almost equivalent to its weight in downforce. It is extremely capable of track racing and is predicted to crush records when it releases. The Jesko Absolut is about top speed.

One :1 is far from boaty weight under 1.4 tonnes and being 90% carbon fibre, it does well on flatter wider tracks like spa where it broke records T the time (road cars) the problem it doesnt get full traction till 4th gear

Well they keep crashing their cars, whats the use of 1000horsepower if its useless around the corners, aside from the amg one who has f1 technology, the rest of the top 10 cars has less horsepower than the jesko some even half of it. They either put the car to the test or save face for the company and stick to straight lines and drag races.

As a Porsche fan for life, the Turbo S is still a beast inspite of being the heaviest and underpowered in this line up.

To be fair when your driving a car that can do like 180 miles an hour in like five seconds, it only takes a second to crash. They need to add more downforce if they want to go onto a windy track and set records. Preferably front downforce because the wing pretty much has the rear covered for downforce.

The speed limit he's talking about is 350kmh due to tires being used for official lap records. Everyone has to use the same compound and it's rated for 300kmh so that's also the speed limit. You can see it in Rimac Nevera lap, it reaches 350kmh and stays there while it can reach 412kmh.

The speed limits are for theoretical death limits. No matter how good the car or safety. You will die or cause so much damage when crashing its hazardous for the environment as much as the owners of the track. The nurburgring is never consistent.
